Transcript
00:00The Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracey Brabin, has set out a new West Yorkshire Local Transport Plan,
00:06which details how future improvements will be prioritised through a vision for an integrated Weaver network,
00:13bringing together buses, trams, trains and walking and cycling routes.
00:17A 12-week consultation is underway, with views sought from Leeds residents on a draft of the plan,
00:23which has been developed in partnership with the region's five local authorities,
00:27and is set to succeed the Transport Strategy 2040 Plan.
00:32Work is already underway to transform travel across the region,
00:36with plans to take buses back under local public control,
00:40an ambition to get spades in the ground on a mass transit system by 2028,
00:45and a partnership approach to making the case for overdue investment in Yorkshire's railways.
00:50Views shared during public and stakeholder engagement last year on the plan's vision
00:55have been incorporated into the draft,
00:58with the Your Voice West York's consultation open through till the 21st of October.
01:04Tracey Brabin is aiming to create a transport system that works for everyone,
01:08building on the billions of pounds of transport investment already secured.
01:12Too many people are utterly isolated in deserts without transport and connections.
01:18We can do better.
01:20Why is it that London and the South East has this fantastic integrated transport plan?
01:25This is my ambition, to have that tap in, tap out, integrated plan,
01:30where you don't have to worry about what things cost,
01:33because you know it's going to be capped.
01:35I know that's going to boost our economy and enable people to get to those opportunities,
01:40those jobs, that training, cultural events, without worrying about how they get home.
