BROTHERS Mike and Jim Ring from Spring Green, Wisconsin, are two custom car building legends known as 'The Ringbrothers'. One of their finest builds is a 1956 Ford F100 truck which took an impressive 3,000 hours to build spread over seven months, costing over $85,000 in parts alone. Powering the truck is a 415-horsepower 5.0-liter Ford Coyote crate motor which is a really good fit for the 50s pickup. With a 1956 cab, but a 1954 grill, the truck is actually a mixture of the two, however the brothers explain: “Most people will recognize it as a ‘56 just because of the cab.” Whilst this vehicle has the looks of a 50s masterpiece, The Ringbrothers are known for blending old-school looks with modern technology. The 1956 Ford F100 is not short of up to date tech either - it has power brakes, electronic transmission, fuel injection, air conditioning and even a bluetooth stereo system. “There’s a lot of modern amenities that you would probably never pick up on by just walking by it,” Jim adds. The car’s interior also sports a classic 50s look, not giving away any of the modern conveniences the brothers have added. Mike says: "It’s the little things in the interior, like for instance, the headliner looks like an old zoot suit material.” The multi-award-winning car customizers state that the pickup truck is the most American vehicle around, and say they are excited to see what people are doing with these trucks.

00:00I think trucks are hot it's modern but it just still looks retro the pickup truck is the most
00:12American vehicle around you fast low sleek cool and kind of sinister
00:28Spring Green Wisconsin home to custom car building legends the ring brothers and one
00:43of their finest builds is a Ford f100 like no other I think trucks are hot I don't know
00:52I don't think everybody likes the early early Ford f100 it's somewhere between a
00:5754 and a 56 it's actually a 56 cab on it but we use the 54 grill and pretty much
01:04built everything else most people will recognize it as a 56 just because of the
01:09cab this first-class resto mod pickup was a 3,000 man-hour build costing $85,000 in
01:17parts alone honestly this truck did not take very long from start to finish we
01:22ended up doing this truck in about seven months this entire truck was hand-built
01:28including the entire box the tailgate the tailgates kind of cool the way it opens
01:32you just basically pull down on it and it stays open and then it just shuts
01:37automatically obviously the cab is original the fenders so the rear fenders
01:42are actually widened quite a bit to get that big tire underneath them but also
01:47this area was shortened up to give it just a little tighter look typically on
01:53the 56 Ford f100 the front wheels look like they're pretty far back on them
01:58trucks these we actually move forward to get rid of that what we call an overbite
02:02personally I just think it helps the appearance of these trucks I think the
02:07only thing left of original sheet metal and it's been touched but is just
02:13basically the cab and and the hood we like the 56 grill but we like the 54 grill
02:21better so we ended up basically putting the 54 front end on this 56 pickup a
02:27little more chrome personally we like it better it's I guess it's everybody's
02:31opinion with that sometimes things are just best left alone and we felt like the
02:36hood the bubble in it really worked well with the truck while this vehicle has
02:41the looks of a 50s masterpiece it's not short of up-to-date tech some of the
02:48modern conveniences on this truck is the braking system and obviously all power
02:52brakes it's got a electronic transmission and it's all fuel injected it's got air
02:58conditioning Bluetooth stereo system in it there's a lot of modern amenities in
03:03this truck that you'd probably never pick up by just walking by it and the
03:07faultless nostalgic beauty isn't just reserved for the bodywork
03:16inside obviously we wanted it to be a little more old-school with all the
03:21amenities it's modern but it just still looks retro we actually use the same seat
03:27and left the bench seat in it these we actually color-coded to kind of tie in with
03:32the interior but there's a lot of parts like this that we actually build for
03:35these vehicles you can see that the door hinges are all machine billet we
03:40actually build all this stuff in-house for these trucks it's the little things in
03:43the interior like the headliner looks like an old zoot suit material the power
03:52train in this truck is a stock crate Ford coyote motor Ford sells it as a crate
03:58motor package their own computer it's pretty much plug-and-play it's really a
04:03nice fit and it looks like it's meant to be in this truck I think it makes about
04:08400 415 horse it's all this truck needs pickup truck is the most American vehicle
04:15around it's pretty exciting to see what people are doing with these trucks a
04:191950s American classic and some ring brothers magic what's not to like
