'There's no reason for these apps to be downloaded', Independent MP's push to ban AI nudity apps

Possessing nudify apps, digital platforms that allow users to insert a person's photos and use generative artificial intelligence to sexualise them, would become a criminal offence and carry up to 15 years in jail under proposed laws.

00:00Now these tools are currently available and are currently being downloaded and

00:06they allow perpetrators to train the AI tools to create this material and then

00:12delete the images so that they can't be detected. It normalises and

00:18desensitises this sort of illegal material and regulating AI is difficult

00:25and we do need a holistic approach but we also need to plug the gaps in our

00:29legislation as they occur. This is an issue that needs to be dealt with

00:34urgently. It has a relatively simple solution and there should be a fence for

00:41downloading these particular tools. There is no good reason for these tools to exist.
