During a meeting on Monday with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, President Trump spoke about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Transcript
00:00Mr. President, back to Gaza, you talk about Hamas stealing food and stealing aid.
00:05What responsibility does Israel have for limiting aid to the region?
00:10And if I could ask a follow-up to the Prime Minister, what pressure can be put on Israel?
00:15Is that something that you and the United States have worked on?
00:18Israel has a lot of responsibility.
00:20They're hampered by the fact that you still have 20 hostages or so.
00:24And the people of Israel are very concerned about the 20 hostages.
00:28It's very interesting.
00:30You could say they could be more concerned about retribution than the 20 hostages.
00:34But they really want the 20 hostages to survive and live to make it.
00:41You know, many of the hostages came to my office, the Oval Office.
00:45And I was amazed by, I would ask them the question, was there any sign of love?
00:51Was there any sign of, when you were a hostage and you have all of these people from Hamas around you,
00:56sometimes 100, sometimes 10, sometimes 2, but you're a hostage?
01:01And you're being stored in a pipe.
01:03It's not even really, you know, a cave.
01:06It's a pipe, a little pipe.
01:09And some said they didn't think they were going to make it because they were losing air.
01:12There wasn't enough air.
01:13And they'd open up the pipe just in time.
01:16But they didn't do it on purpose.
01:17They just happened to open it.
01:19They got lucky.
01:20But I said, did they ever wink at you and say, like, don't worry, you're going to be okay?
01:25Did they ever give you some extra food, even if it was a piece of bread?
01:29Did they ever give you anything during that time?
01:31And some were there for 400, 500 days now, right?
01:34It's a long time, a year and a half more than that.
01:36And not one person said there was any love from anybody.
01:41You know, in other words, you have hundreds of people.
01:44And you see it in the movies where somebody is a prisoner and somebody is helping.
01:49You even see it with Germany where people would be let into a house and live in an attic in secret.
01:58You know, you'd see signs of something.
02:00I said, did you see anything like, did they wink at you?
02:03Did they say, don't worry, you're going to be okay?
02:05I never received, I ask that question all the time.
02:08I've never received one answer that said, yeah, they really wanted to help.
02:13No, the hatred is just incredible.
02:15But certainly access to food issue.
02:17What more can Israel do when you have to go to Congress as well?
02:21Well, I think Israel can do a lot.
02:24I will say that Iran, I think interjected themselves in this last negotiation.
02:32Can you imagine the beating they took?
02:33Look, we wiped out their nuclear possibilities.
02:36They can start again.
02:38If they do, we'll wipe it out faster.
02:39Then you can wave your finger at it.
02:43We'll have to do that.
02:44We will do that gladly, openly and gladly.
02:47They've been saying, Iran's been sending out bad signals, I'll tell you.
02:52For a country that just got wiped out, they've been sending very bad signals, very nasty signals.
02:59And they shouldn't be doing that.
03:01They shouldn't be doing that.
03:03They were talking about things that they shouldn't be talking about.
03:06They were interviewed on a recent show, the foreign minister, saying things that he shouldn't be talking about, shouldn't be saying.
03:13And I think they got involved in this negotiation, telling Hamas and giving Hamas signals and orders.
03:23And that's not good.
03:25That's not good.
03:26Yeah.
03:27Yeah.
03:27Yeah.
03:27Yeah.
03:27Yeah.
