A man claiming to be a Datuk Seri—accused of running a fraudulent investment scheme—has drawn further suspicion after backing out of a promised appearance at a press conference to clear his name, citing health concerns.  At a press conference on Monday (July 28), MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong revealed that at least six victims have come forward, including one who lost RM400,000. 00:00The plot has thickened in the case of a self-proclaimed Datuk Sri accused of

00:06swindling victims out of thousands of ringgit after the man himself offered,

00:10then backed out, of publicly revealing his identity. At a press conference on

00:15Monday, MCA Public Services and Complaints Department Head Datuk Sri Michael Chong

00:21said the man had earlier contacted his office expressing his intention to

00:26attend the event to clear his name. He's supposed to come here and yesterday he

00:34told me he had also contacted a reporter to come here. So we follow his what you

00:48reporters to come here. But last minute yesterday I received a message that he's

01:04Last Friday, Chong revealed he had received six complaints from individuals who

01:10claimed they were scammed by a man who claimed to be a Datuk Sri running a

01:14fraudulent investment scheme. One of the victims reportedly lost 400,000 ringgit and

01:19another is said to be a Datin. Following the public disclosure, the suspect

01:24uploaded a copy of his identity card and supporting documents on social media in an

01:30attempt to defend himself. He also threatened legal action against Chong and the

01:34Council of Datuk Dato Malaysia . Chong, however, said they had no intention of apologizing,

01:43pointing out inconsistencies in the man's documents, including a suspicious title

01:48description, Ahli Istana Anak Angkat, printed above his name. Chong also displayed a copy of

01:55another identity card allegedly belonging to the man's partner, who goes by the name Putri.

02:00He urged others who may have fallen victim to the scam to come forward and lodge police reports.

02:06MDDM President Datuk Samson, David Maman, said the Council had received two more complaints

02:13from individuals who claimed they too were deceived by the same person.

02:46Meanwhile, Datuk Hamzah Limin, Datuk Lembaga Suku Bidwanda Raja Balang Luak Johol,

02:52clarified that traditional titles under Luak Johol are only valid if recommended by the Datuk

02:58Undang Johol and conferred by the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan in an official state
