00:00Hey, we're Like Roses. We are currently in Chicago on tour for May Day Parade's Three Cheers for 20 Years tour with May Day Parade, Microrave, and Grayscale.
00:19We put out an EP called Stuck last year, and today we are going to show you the inside of the band.
00:24Okay, welcome to the driver's area. My name's Devin. I usually drive morning shift on our drives, but last night I got the late night.
00:34We all kind of take turns depending on who needs to get sleep at the time.
00:40So yeah, everybody drives. I usually hit some of the morning ones too with Devin.
00:43I work remotely, so it's just kind of the way it has to shake down, but yeah, no, it's super fun. I take the easy ones.
00:49I mean, I've been, every time I'm trying to get reared up and ready to go, I've been listening to the new Loathe song, because it riffs.
00:57Gifted Every Strength, so sick, and then sometimes go into Loathe.
01:02Other times we listen to like Alanis Morissette, we listen to Gracie Abrams, we listen to Microwave.
01:11Occasionally I'll punish Amy with some 90s, like classic rock or 70s classic rock.
01:15Yeah, also about classic rock. I was on an AC-DC kick the other day.
01:21I often drive in silence. My favorite drive to do is like the sunrise drive, because everyone is asleep.
01:32But other than that, I don't even really know if it's specific. Sometimes it's pop bangers, because I like singing while I'm driving, especially if I'm trying to stay awake.
01:42And then other than that, it's probably the early 2000s kind of emo stuff that I haven't stopped listening to for most of my life.
01:55Yeah, so we do save our hot sauces.
02:02We organize them, not because we knew you were coming, just because we're very organized.
02:08But, you know, sometimes they don't give you sauces, sometimes you want to put sauce in something else.
02:13We keep those here.
02:13We've got, like, lotion.
02:16This is the medicine cabinet.
02:18Hand sanitizer.
02:20Ha!
02:21We've got aspirin, Pepto-Bismol.
02:24Yeah, the essentials.
02:26You never know.
02:27We all got matching tattoos in Dallas, so the lotion has been passed around a lot, because everybody's trying to moisturize.
02:35Yeah, and then sunglasses here and there.
02:40This is an envelope full of all of our receipts for taxes.
02:47Liquid death.
02:48Liquid death.
02:49It's a must.
02:50Yeah.
02:50Yes.
02:51That's bug spray in here for whenever we get to the humid parts.
02:56And we also have, just in case, salt.
03:01All right, so we've got our snacks here.
03:03We usually keep about two bags worth of snacks.
03:07The number one essential being the peanut butter pretzels.
03:09We have to have these, especially for Amy when she gets hangry.
03:13Yeah.
03:13And then we keep a couple spare, just, like, GZero's.
03:17That's another essential for the van.
03:18Another must-have on the rider every single night.
03:21A couple other things in there.
03:23And then we've got just some random things.
03:27That's the snack bag specifically.
03:30And then, yeah, Costco's another fun one, another must-have that we do.
03:33So we've got our cashew clusters here.
03:35Yeah, just a ton of, like, good shit.
03:37The Sour Patch Kids.
03:38Anything that you could easily eat that's not going to make a mess,
03:41because we try to stay super well organized.
03:43So in the organization, too, usually it's, like, only one person can sit here.
03:47One person sits in the back, and then two up front.
03:49So you can lay down.
03:50We can rest.
03:52Yeah.
03:52The back bench is the best.
03:53That's my favorite, because it's the most quietest, and it's not cold up there.
03:56I get super cold.
03:57On the rider, we get Gatorade Zeros.
04:00We get hard seltzers, either Jameson or Jim Beam, depending on what they feel like giving us.
04:07There's always liquid death on there, too.
04:11Then we get turkey pinwheel sandwiches and carrots and hummus.
04:15But we established a policy today that after 24 hours, the turkey pinwheels and the hummus and carrots have to go,
04:23because we found some old turkey sandwiches today.
04:29We also get bananas, but usually we try and finish them either, like, night of or the next morning,
04:34because we have had some incidents of leaving them up in the sun and forgetting about them,
04:39and then they turn brown and no one wants to eat them.
04:42So, yeah, we try and finish those as fast as we can and make sure no one steps on them
04:47and makes the whole van smell like bananas.
04:49Yes. The weights were an attempt to stay in shape while on the road.
04:57We ended up, I ended up getting a Planet Fitness membership a couple weeks in
05:03because I was not using these as much as I thought I would.
05:07Also, cardio for the vocals.
05:10But this is for, like, upper body stuff, and then we've got the 20s for, like, squats.
05:16There's two of each of them in there.
05:19We wish we used them more.
05:22A lot of times we put a bag, like, whoever's currently on the back bench will have their bag here
05:27so that when you lay across, you can kind of, like, level it out and actually lay down flat here.
05:33So we're always filling that gap, but usually with whoever's currently in the back bench.
05:39Is my little cooler over there, too?
05:40Oh, yeah. Kayla's cooler is sick.
05:43I don't know if you want to talk about this.
05:45There's another, just something to punish Amy with the Iron Maiden, and yeah, oh, there's some spoiled things in there.
05:50Oh, ho, ho.
05:51We filed, is that a turkey sandwich?
05:53Yeah.
05:53That's an old turkey sandwich, and that's part of why we established the 24-hour rule.
05:59That smells bad.
06:00Oh, this is Kayla's thing, right?
06:02No, that is our touring drummer's.
06:04Is this his Switch?
06:05I think so.
06:06I didn't know that it even fits in here.
06:08That was great.
06:08He said he would put it away.
06:10He loves playing Smash Brothers.
06:12We kind of play Smash with all the other bands.
06:15I kick their ass.
06:17That's that.
06:18I don't know.
06:19The touring photographer for Mayday Parade also has Smash, like, cracked on a Steam Deck,
06:25so has all of the characters, but we can play with other controllers, too, because playing
06:30with the Joy-Cons is tough.
06:33It's, uh, it's subtle, but, uh...
06:35The bar?
06:36Yeah.
06:37Oh, sorry.
06:37It's the bar.
06:38The bar is closed currently.
06:39So, yeah, like we mentioned, on our rider we have either Jim Beam or Jameson, and obviously
06:44we don't always finish it.
06:45So, just in case, we keep the, uh, the bar under here.
06:53And, you know, sometimes people will stop by when we're hanging out in the van, and it's
06:58nice to be hospitable when that happens, so.
07:02Uh, we also have this solar panel here up in the window.
07:05It both acts as like a sunshade, but it charges up this battery here, um, and I utilize it
07:12to charge my laptop and my phone for up to, like, two days at a time.
07:16Like, one afternoon in the sun will do it, so.
07:19It's pretty sweet.
07:20Somehow there's still bugs on the back of the van.
07:23That means they must be flying into it when we're parked, you know?
07:27They're backing up at warp speeds.
07:29So, I am the lead Tetriser for the back of the van.
07:32I'm also the smallest, so it hurts my back at least.
07:35So, we try to keep it as organized as possible.
07:37MERSH gear, right?
07:38We don't want our vinyl getting crushed or anything.
07:40Um, but yeah, generally it's all filled with gear, and then once we load out, Amy and
07:44I will kind of hang out in the back before the show, just to get a little bit of peace
07:46and quiet.
07:47Super nice, I like that.
07:49This is where they do their vocal warm-ups.
07:51And vocal warm-ups are essentially lying across the back of the van and blasting, like,
07:58pop bangers that I feel hit different parts of my range.
08:03Um, just so, like, nobody else has to witness that.
08:06Thanks for checking out the van.
08:08We're Like Roses.
08:09Our EP, Stuck, is streaming everywhere, and you can follow us on Instagram for updates on
08:15tour dates and everything else.
08:18The Instagram is likerosesca, by the way.
