00:00hey everyone it's kritika welcome back to my channel i am in valencia in spain right now
00:17this is the third largest city in spain i've actually been living here for the last few weeks
00:22kind of just moved here for a month and i'm absolutely loving this city but in this video
00:26i thought i'll put my tourist hat on and take you around the city and show you what all you
00:29can do in valencia if you plan a trip here or if you want to just virtually explore valencia
00:34so let's go around and explore this beautiful city
00:36my first stop in valencia is this stunning futuristic architectural complex that you see behind me
00:55called the city of arts and sciences this building is sort of become synonymous with valencia's
01:01modern identity i feel like if you google valencia this is probably one of the buildings that shows
01:06up in the top searches it's a very futuristic looking building as you can see in fact i think
01:10some sci-fi movies have been shot here as well so it consists of different parts there are scientific
01:15and artistic centers over here so there's the oceanographic which is the aquarium there's the
01:21hemispheric where you can watch 4d shows i think there's a science museum there's an art museum so
01:25there's a lot to do over here but even if you're not planning to go inside any of them i feel like
01:30this building is just worth checking out so just taking a stroll around it is worth it as well
01:34i am now inside the umbricle which is this garden that you see over here so right next to the city
01:53of arts and science which you can see in the back there is the staircase that brings you up here and
01:58this park is absolutely free of cost so there's no entry fee and it's got this beautiful rooftop
02:04architecture there are tons of palm trees some interesting sculptures here and it's very nice
02:08to stroll through valencia was actually awarded the title of the european green capital uh in 2024
02:14and i can see why there are lots of green spaces over here but speaking of green spaces let me take
02:19you to the next stop right next to the city of arts and sciences is this beautiful garden which is
02:32where i am right now it's called turia park and it's got a very interesting history to it so back
02:37in the day this actually used to be a river that separated the city into like two different sites
02:42but sometime in the 20th century there was actually a flood over here and i believe the actual river
02:47was diverted to an artificial route and then this part was later converted into a park and it's an
02:53absolutely beautiful park it's around nine kilometers long and on one end of it is the city of arts
02:58and sciences and you can easily spend hours just walking around here you can see people cycling
03:02i also did a segway tour sometime last week and segwayed through this park as well which was really
03:08nice there are also lots of playgrounds here one of them is called park gulliver which is actually
03:12inspired by gulliver's travels which i thought was very interesting but it's so nice to have such a
03:17large green space in the middle of the city there are also tons of bridges that you can walk under
03:21and these days because the weather has gotten kind of warm and it's sunny outside you can see lots of
03:26people are having picnics so very often i get asked how i find vegetarian food when i'm traveling abroad
03:37usually it's quite easy to find but especially in valencia i've not had any issues at all there are
03:43lots of veggie friendly restaurants and fully vegetarian restaurants as well like the one i'm at
03:47right now this is called copenhagen and it's looking really nice our food just got here and i ordered
03:54like a tasting menu i think there are three appetizers one main and one dessert all for 14 50 euros which i
04:01think is a good deal so yeah i'm very excited for this meal we ordered cauliflower for appetizers
04:06which looks like gobi 65 and tastes like gobi 65 as well but it's really good
04:13well the food there was great i really enjoyed that meal and this restaurant is in a really nice
04:22neighborhood called rucifer which is where i'm actually staying it's a very trendy and artistic
04:27neighborhood and while i'm here i thought i'll give you a tour of rucifer
04:31next up i'm checking out the ceramics museum which is this beautiful building that you see behind me
04:48so spain is kind of known for its ceramics and a bunch of people recommended this museum to me
04:53i feel like normally i may have skipped something like this um but it does look like a really pretty
04:57building i'm not exactly sure what to expect inside but i think they have like a collection from the
05:0218th century to the contemporary times and also some pieces by picasso so it sounds really interesting
05:07and honestly this building is just so beautiful so let's go inside and check out this museum
05:12no trip to valencia is complete without visiting its old town and this famous cathedral behind me
05:41so this cathedral dates back to the 13th century and you can buy tickets uh and go inside it as
05:46well it's a beautiful structure i happened to watch a concert the other day which was like a free
05:51concert so i got to go check out the cathedral for free which was really nice but this cathedral
05:55houses the holy chalice and you can see stunning frescoes and it's very beautiful but this here is the
06:01main square in old town this is called plaza de la rena and there are lots of nice eating joints
06:05over here you can take a stroll through old town and check out beautiful alleys and cute courtyards
06:11which is what i'm going to be doing right now and close to this place is also the main central
06:16market of valencia which is supposedly the largest uh market in europe so yeah let's go check all of
06:22this out something i really love about valencia is that it's such a walkable city the public transport
06:47here is great you can easily get taxis as well um i use this app called free now and cab is fine when
06:52i have to book taxis and they've got a great bus system and a metro system but even then it's such
06:58a walkable city everything is like within a 30 minute radius of each other i feel like so i've mostly
07:03just been walking over here and if i have to go somewhere far i just end up booking a taxi which
07:08also is quite affordable here
07:22this building behind me is the central market of valencia and it's the largest market in europe
07:40for fresh produce it's i think around 8 000 square meters large so it's massive and i've heard the
07:46architecture inside is really beautiful as well besides fresh produce you can also try out different
07:50types of food so i'm going to take a stroll inside and check out this market wow this market is massive
08:02and there's so much food in here also the building itself is so beautiful
08:20so one of the drinks you must try when you're in valencia is orchata this is what it looks like
08:29it looks like milk but it's apparently made of tiger nuts i didn't even know what tiger nuts are to be
08:34honest uh but the place i'm at right now is called orchateria de santa catalina which is supposed to be the
08:40best orchata in valencia and you're supposed to have it with furton which is like this um sugary bread
08:46and you dip it inside this and have it so yeah let's try it out
08:58oh my god this is so good i've actually tried orchata and a few other places in valencia and
09:03this one definitely seems to be better so i see why this is so highly recommended also the decor of
09:09this place is really pretty it looks very old school and it's got very like spanish interiors
09:15so really liking the vibe over here
09:32another thing you need to try when you're in valencia is this drink right here
09:36it's called agua de valencia and it's a cocktail basically it's a mix of orange juice
09:41kava vodka and gin and like the name suggests this was invented in valencia
09:47and not just in valencia it was invented in this very place that i'm in right now
09:50this place is called cafe madrid it was founded back in 1940 and i think it's the oldest bar here
09:56in valencia and this is my first time trying out this drink very excited for it looks very refreshing
10:02let's try it out this kind of just tastes like orange juice spiked but i really like it it's
10:08really delicious also this place is very popular because i'm here on a monday afternoon and this place
10:14has been packed i had to wait to get a table uh but it's really nice i can see why so many people
10:19want to come here because the decor is really nice and uh yeah i think it's definitely worth visiting
10:24if you're in valencia so i've kind of spent the day just walking around a lot did a bit of old town
10:43walked around el carmen and in the evening i did a really fun walking tour it wasn't like the usual
10:49walking tours that i do because this involved a bit of like photography as well where the guy took some
10:53nice photos of me and my friend who was with me on this tour uh so it was really nice we walked
10:58through like some really quaint streets places that i hadn't been to before even though i've been in
11:02valencia for so long and i thought that i've seen a lot of it um i saw some new places today so i really
11:08enjoyed that tour and yeah the sun is about to set now we're just in the main square where the town hall
11:13is and hopefully catch the sunset from somewhere nice and it actually has been such a great day so far
11:32i'm here at the botanical garden uh just walked in and it's already so peaceful you can hear birds chirping
11:37birds chirping it's a really nice vibe you can hear water somewhere in the distance the entry ticket to
11:42this place was three euros and uh today's a really nice and sunny day so i feel like it's the perfect day
11:47to be here in this garden and it is really beautiful
12:07valencia is by the water so of course i had to check out the beach the water was freezing but the beach
12:13itself was very vibrant laid back and nice to walk around the highlight of my day was doing a sunset
12:25catamaran cruise with my friends we got a free drink and the views were just spectacular
12:39and no trip to valencia is complete without trying some paella
12:42when you think of spanish food something that probably comes to your mind is paella
12:46i think it's one of the most famous spanish dishes in fact some people call it the national
12:50dish of spain and we are now at a spanish restaurant by the beach in valencia and we've
12:55ordered some paella for ourselves the interesting thing about paella is that it was actually invented
13:00in valencia uh so of course you can't come to valencia and not try out paella usually paella is
13:05like a non-vegetarian dish i've ordered a vegetarian version of it for myself and you can't really come
13:11and have this solo because i think most places ask you to order like minimum for two people
13:15and they just bring the whole dish in like one big pot that everyone can uh sort of eat from so
13:21yeah our table has like vegetarian and non-vegetarian fire let's try it out and see how it is it's quite
13:26interesting i feel like it has a lot of indian flavors to it
13:31that's all for this video but i did a lot more while in valencia like experiencing las
13:36fias one of the biggest festivals in spain and living the digital nomad life because i was in
13:41valencia for a whole month so subscribe to my channel and i'll see you all next time bye
