00:00hey everyone it's Kritika welcome back to my channel good morning from Luxor in Egypt as
00:15you can tell we just went on a hot air balloon I'm gonna backtrack a bit to earlier this morning and
00:21show you how it went down we started our day very early in the morning it was still dark outside as
00:26you can see we had to get on a boat to go to the other side of Luxor and then we finally made it
00:31to the spot we chose to do the hot air balloon ride during sunrise and I'm so glad because the
00:36view was just unreal it was so magical seeing all the other hot air balloons in the sky amidst the
00:41landscape of ancient buildings and the Nile we saw the Queen Hatshepsut temple from the top and
00:47also got a glimpse of the Valley of the Kings and this was such a beautiful morning
00:56we're back and that was such a nice experience we saw all the temples from the top we saw the
01:10Colossae of Memnon the backside of the Valley of the Kings we saw the Queen Hatshepsut temple all
01:16of these things we'll actually be seeing today and we also saw the Karnak temple so totally worth doing
01:22honestly because I've done a hot air balloon twice before I wasn't sure if this is gonna impress me
01:28as much but yeah this was totally worth doing and I feel like this was also probably the cheapest hot
01:33air balloon ride I've done of the three ones that I've done before so yeah this is a must do if you're
01:38in Cairo this was so nice and look how beautiful the sky is looking oh yay got our certificates
01:50and the same balloon yeah it's literally our balloon this is really nice there's a flying
01:57school graduate with a degree hey how was the experience everyone awesome so this is our bus
02:05for the trip and that's the holy gang we're heading next to the Valley of the Kings but our hotel packed
02:10these really nice breakfast boxes for us so let's quickly have some breakfast and I'm super excited
02:15to explore the Valley of the Kings we've made it to the Valley of the Kings and this is basically
02:25the final resting ground for the pharaohs of the new kingdom so there are 64 tombs inside over here
02:31only some of them are open to public and I think out of the 64 26 belong to pharaohs and the rest
02:37were just for like royal family members but you can actually go inside some of these tombs and
02:42I'm super excited for this because this has been on my bucket list for so long the entry ticket covers
02:47like three tombs so we're going to be visiting that and then you can pay extra and visit a couple more
02:52tombs as well which I'll probably do one of the popular ones over here is the tomb of King Seti which
02:57I think the entry fee for is the most expensive like 1000 or 1200 Egyptian pounds and the other
03:02one is King Tutankhamun's tomb which was actually found quite recently and completely intact because
03:08the other tombs were actually looted over the years so all of the things that were found in his tomb we
03:13saw at the Egyptian museum but his actual mummy is over here in this tomb so I'll probably check that
03:17out as well so yeah let's go inside and I am super excited for this this is a model of the Valley of
03:22the Kings and over here you can see how deep these tombs are so bought our tickets and I ended up
03:28buying tickets to go inside the tombs of Tutankhamun and Seti both of that combined was like 1760
03:35Egyptian pounds which is a lot of money it's like almost 5000 rupees but I feel like I don't know
03:39when I'll be back here next or if I'll be back here so figured I'd do both of those tombs as well
03:44besides the free three tombs that we get to do but yeah they have these electric carts which will be
03:48taking us inside the valley let's go inside and check out some tombs
03:58this is such a fun ride through the valley the views are amazing and this place is massive so
04:05we're checking out the first tomb this one over here this is the tomb of Ramses IV and it's supposed
04:12to be one of the most beautiful tombs here this is just so insane honestly cannot get over all the
04:27carvings on the wall and how the color is retained so all of these colors were naturally used from
04:32different materials that they found in the mountains so for blue they used like lapis lazuli things like
04:38that so yeah this is just so fascinating
04:47my mind is honestly blown already we've only seen one out of the five tombs we're going to be seeing
04:52today but yeah the colors inside are just insane and guides aren't allowed inside but our guide hoda
04:59gave us like a little bit of a briefing of which carvings to look out for so yeah this is just super
05:05fascinating walking to the next tomb now and honestly this valley itself like look at this view
05:11this is just insane going to check out the tomb of ramses the third welcome thank you happy month
05:22so interesting fact about these tombs they started constructing them on the day the pharaoh was
05:41born so from the day they're born they're being their tombs are being constructed and the construction
05:45finishes 70 days after their death when the mummification process is done so the next tomb that
05:50i'm about to see is the one of king tutankhamun which is actually the smallest tomb over here
05:55and that's because he died at the age of 19 so although he wasn't a very prominent king his tomb
06:00is very famous because this was the only intact tomb that was found here all the other tombs were
06:04looted over the years but this was found sometime in the 1900s and all the artifacts from inside here
06:10are kept at the egyptian museum which we saw the other day but his mummy is actually kept inside
06:14over here so you can actually go see his mummies so let's go inside and check this out
06:31king tut's tomb is definitely worth checking out it's quite small because like i said he passed away
06:36at the age of 19 so the tomb couldn't be very long but because it was discovered much later and not
06:41utterly looted the colors on the wall are super vibrant and very well preserved and also the
06:46mummy itself even though i've seen so many mummies before like seeing a mummy in the place where it's
06:50actually supposed to be is quite interesting and you can also see the tomb of the king so that was
06:54really nice next we're checking out king seti's tomb this is the most expensive tomb over here the
07:00entry ticket is 1400 egp uh but this is supposed to be the most beautiful tomb here king seti in case
07:06you didn't know is the father of ramses ii who is said to be the most like the greatest pharaoh
07:12ramses ii also has a tomb over here but unfortunately his tomb got flooded so they're restoring it right
07:17now i'm sure his tomb would be even nicer but anyway let's go inside and check out king seti's tomb
07:23wow this is actually quite a deep tomb we've been walking inside and
07:38it goes even further in
07:42this is honestly so mind-blowing i'm so glad we decided to do this tomb because i was having
07:58second thoughts because of how expensive it is but this is totally worth it completely mind-blowing
08:04so a lot of parts of these tombs used to be left unfinished because if the pharaoh passed away they
08:09only had 70 days to finish the tomb so this room is a good example of that although you can actually
08:14see drawings on the walls here so they first make drawings i think and then carve them out and paint
08:19them this is just so spectacular that was unbelievable we still have one more tomb to go
08:25quite a workout going in and out of all of these tombs this one as you can see is quite unfinished
08:32there's nothing on the walls and it's very steep this one is a bit different from the others because
08:38the base is actually blue everywhere else it was yellow but this looks really nice so done with
08:43all five tombs and honestly this was such a workout i don't know if you can tell my face is sweating
08:49but oh my god this is mind-blowing i feel like all the carvings and stuff that we saw over the last few
08:55days in the pyramids were already so spectacular but to see so much color in them was just insane
09:02honestly very very mind-blowing and i think seti's tomb is definitely worth doing i'm so glad we did it but
09:07yeah i need to go get some water now i am panting
09:22so our next stop is queen Hatshepsut temple and poda our guide is going to tell us more about it
09:28yeah i'm glad to talk about her because she's my role model Hatshepsut is one of four ladies that managed
09:33to rule egypt can you imagine ruling egypt we're talking 1200 bc 1200 before christ she managed to
09:41rule egypt for over 22 years was a very successful ruler had lots of achievements everybody loved her
09:47the priests loved her the generals of the army loved her she was very strong she was very smart and she
09:53has one of the beautiful temples that we have here on the west bank of luxor in the back there yeah yeah let me
10:00tell you that recently some of the fashion shows there they start to take place here oh yeah right
10:06here yeah listen a year ago one of the big italian fashion houses they had their 50th anniversary they
10:14were they had the show here on the nice location yeah exactly and 500 celebrities the most rich the
10:22richest of the world yeah they flew here to luxor just to attend this fashion show queen hatch episode
10:29sounds like a feminist yeah imagine being able to rule for such a long period of time back in the
10:36day like yes and she was how many years ago was this we're talking we're talking over 3000 years
10:413000 years ago and she was a very successful ruler at the same time everybody loved her so like hoda said
10:47queen hatchet suit was quite a feminist but back in the day queens weren't the norm so she actually
10:51represented herself as a king so at the egyptian museum that we visited in cairo we actually saw
10:57a statue of her she's sort of represented as a man she has a beard but that is queen hatchet suit if
11:01you look at the temple there are three different levels you can't access the ground floor but the
11:05first and the second floor have like different exhibits the top floor actually was converted into a
11:10church when i think the romans came in let's walk inside and explore this place
11:28these mountains look so insane like look how steep they are and this is the natural shape like i thought
11:34maybe they were carved into it but this is how it naturally looks such a beautiful setup
11:51this temple is so beautiful but today is an extremely hot day so i feel like i'm sweating from
11:58parts i didn't even know you could sweat from cannot wait to get to the hotel and shower but yeah
12:03this place is beautiful
12:12making a quick stop here at the policy of memdon these two statues that you see here behind me
12:18so we're done with all our sightseeing for the day uh we're just heading for lunch and we have a unique
12:23setup today we're actually going to be having lunch at someone's house so it's a home-cooked
12:28egyptian meal i'm just walking into the house now
12:38so starting our meal with some soup this is basically like some pasta soup so you can see
12:42pasta in it let's try this out
12:47quite nice so we've got some salad we've got some beans some bread and some mixed vegetables here's
12:54everyone already eating
13:01what is good palavi that reaction
13:05i want to know what it was for the salad yeah
13:08okay let's try it out please join the meal i feel at home thank you
13:14the salad is so good i feel like we've all done so much today and we didn't have a proper breakfast
13:20so this meal feels amazing and everything is really delicious thank you so much thank you

13:41but anyway we are now at luxor airport which is actually way nicer than i expected they've got an
13:47international airport here and the airport itself is really modern and nice we're flying back to cairo
13:52tonight and today is the last day of our trip so we'll be spending the evening together and tomorrow
13:57morning we're flying back
14:18so we're back in cairo checked into our hotel no hotel which is where we were staying at the start of this
