00:00hey everyone it's Kritika welcome back to my channel I am in Seattle right now and
00:19today we're going on a really fun road trip to Oregon so unlike any other road
00:24trip we are actually renting out an RV and we're going to be driving down in
00:28the RV to Portland and spending the next three or four days there I have never
00:33traveled or stayed in an RV before so I'm super excited about this trip I think
00:37this is going to be very exciting so we just got here to the place where we're
00:40renting the RV from let's go check it out
00:45so this is the RV we're renting and this is gonna be our home for the next four
00:49days let's go inside and see what it's like so this is kind of like a mini
00:54house on wheels I'll give you a proper tour and tell you how much it's for and
00:57stuff later but for now we're gonna get some instructions of how this works how
01:02to clear out the sewage fill water and stuff like that so we're gonna figure
01:05that out and then head to Portland
01:14so we've loaded in all our stuff there's actually plenty of storage in here and
01:19for our suitcases there's storage outside as well so I think we're all set let's go
01:23to Portland
01:28is everyone ready?
01:30we are
01:39so how does it feel to drive the RV?
01:42it feels pretty awesome
01:44all that power behind the wheels
01:49and is this your first time driving like a big car?
01:53I mean I can't call this a car or a big truck
01:56I've driven pickup trucks but this is my first time driving an RV so it's comparable
02:02but this is definitely bigger
02:04okay let's hope we are in safe hands
02:14so first things first we're making a stop at the gas station
02:17so our RV needs gas and also propane so the gas is already full but we're just
02:24checking if the propane is full and filling that up I didn't even know like
02:27there are gas stations for this honestly this is like I think one of those special gas stations
02:32so there's propane and we're gonna be filling that up
02:35I think the microwave and the stove run on propane
02:38but when we go to the RV park which is where we'll be staying later
02:42we can plug in our RV to the electricity supply there
02:45so we don't really need the propane to run these things
02:48but yeah we need to fill our propane tank and then I think we're gonna grab lunch
02:52because we're already off to quite a late start
02:54and then yeah get down to Portland
02:57so we're stopping for a quick lunch break
02:59but I just realized I haven't introduced you to the people I'm traveling with
03:02so let me do that
03:03so first there's my sister Shweta Didi
03:06hi
03:07there's Nila
03:09and my brother-in-law Hemant Jiju
03:12hi
03:13so yeah we're like basically they live in Seattle
03:15I'm visiting them and it was Shweta Didi's idea to rent an RV
03:19yeah so we're very excited about the trip
03:22I feel like it has taken us almost all morning to figure out the RV and stuff
03:27so now that that's down we're just having lunch and then we'll head to Portland
03:32so we're one hour away from Portland making a quick stop to get some snacks
03:45got myself some coffee
03:47what did you get Nila?
03:49a cake pop, an earth cake pop
03:51a cake pop wow
03:52oh it's an earth cake pop wow
03:53this journey has been so comfortable
03:55I was sitting in the front for a bit
03:57I have been sitting here on our couch
04:00and I actually ended up taking a nap as well so it's been very comfortable
04:04do you want to tell us how your experience has been on the RV?
04:07the experience is good
04:08my car is not like this
04:10it's just with seats
04:12my car does not have all these materials
04:15and you can sleep and all that
04:18what is your favorite thing about this car?
04:20that it has a bed and a couch
04:22and a table
04:23mmhmm
04:24and it's like a home
04:37so finally after quite a long drive we have made it to Portland
04:41so we're staying in an RV park
04:43and in case you don't know because I actually didn't know this
04:46you can rent out a spot at an RV park
04:48so you have to pay for that
04:50maybe during the day tomorrow
04:51I'll tell you how much all of this cost
04:53but we have like a parking spot here in this RV park
04:57this park has everything from like a pool, restroom, gym, stuff like that
05:01and also you sort of hook your RV to the electricity here
05:05which is basically powering this whole place
05:07and also to a water pump
05:09so that's how we get water
05:11so our plan for today is
05:13it's already night
05:14so we're just like gonna chill in the RV
05:16we're not really like going out anywhere
05:18and Shweta Didi is making dinner for us
05:20there's some pav bhaji and tiki happening in the back there
05:24very excited for the food
05:25and let's see what this whole experience is like
05:27I'm actually curious to see how well we sleep here tonight
05:31that's gonna be my bed
05:32which is currently a storage spot
05:34but yeah, let's get some dinner
05:36good morning everyone from my new house
05:49this is where I slept
05:52we actually slept really well
05:54at least I did
05:55and the weather's gotten so much better
05:57we didn't even need the heater
05:59Nila and I slept here
06:00and today I woke up to this view
06:02good morning
06:04breakfast is ready
06:06so breakfast is ready
06:08there's some delicious dosa
06:10so I'm gonna get out of bed
06:11go brush
06:12eat some food
06:13and we'll figure out what we're doing today
06:17the weather today is so nice
06:19so I'm just sitting outside and having breakfast
06:21so this here is our RV
06:24and we are at an RV park like I mentioned
06:26this is called the Janssen Beach RV Park
06:28basically what happens is you can pay to get a slot over here
06:30to park your RV for the night
06:32and they have facilities like this
06:34dining table like which is exclusively for you
06:37there's a swimming pool
06:38which I think is shut right now for this season
06:40there's a recreational room
06:42restrooms, laundry room, play area for kids
06:44so everything that you could need essentially
06:46and also you can hook up your RV to the electricity
06:49and to water supply
06:50so this is a really nice RV park
06:52and the day is looking so nice
06:54so I'm just gonna sit and enjoy my dosa
06:57so done with breakfast
07:02that was such a nice meal
07:07today is just such a beautiful day
07:08so I had a great time
07:10but we're taking turns now to shower and get ready
07:12so until then I thought I'll quickly tell you
07:14how much we paid for all of this
07:16so this particular one is for $160 per day
07:19but the catch is that that only gives you 100 miles per day
07:22so since we're doing a 4 day trip
07:24I think we get 400 miles
07:26and if we exceed that
07:27then we kind of have to pay per mile
07:29I think it's $1 or $2 per mile
07:31I'm not exactly sure
07:32so that's for the RV
07:34but inside the RV there's everything
07:36they've got cooking appliances, a toaster, toiletries, bed sheet, blankets
07:42so it's kind of like a hotel inside
07:43so they have taken care of it
07:45and they also explained the process of how everything works
07:48so that was really nice
07:49and to park the RV safely at night
07:52there are lots of RV parks
07:53for which they kind of charge you as well
07:55especially if you want to hook up electricity and stuff
07:57so you can obviously park anywhere for free
08:00in designated spots
08:02but if you want like an RV park with access to all the amenities that I mentioned
08:06that come over here
08:08and also like hook up to water supply and electricity
08:10then you kind of have to pay for that as well
08:12I think this particular RV park was for $50 or $60 per night
08:16so we're going to be doing two nights here
08:18and then another night in a different RV park
08:20so that's how much we paid for this
08:22apart from this we also bought food
08:25so we're not really eating out as much
08:27we just got like ready to eat food and stuff
08:29so that's one expense that we had
08:31and you also have to when you return the RV
08:33refill the tank and the propane
08:35but overall I think this works out to be more cost effective
08:38than staying in a hotel
08:39and more than anything it's just the experience
08:41like we really wanted to experience the whole RV thing
08:44I feel like people normally rent RVs for a longer period of time
08:48and do longer road trips
08:50we're very new to the whole RV thing
08:52so we are just doing like a short trip for four days
08:55but the plan for today is that
08:57we are going to be going to Cannon Beach
08:59which is one of the attractions in Oregon
09:01so I'm going to go get ready now
09:02and see you guys in a bit
09:09so we're all ready now
09:10and on our way to Cannon Beach
09:12so Cannon Beach I think is one and a half hours away
09:15but this was really convenient
09:17all cleaned up in the back
09:19how's everyone doing?
09:20good
09:21excited for the beach
09:40so we've made it to Cannon Beach
09:43found a free RV parking spot for ourselves
09:46and Cannon Beach is basically like this cute little beach town
09:49there's this huge rock here which is famous
09:51it's called Haystack Rock I think
09:53and of course there's the beach
09:55so we're just walking up to the beach now
09:57the weather today, the sun is out
09:59it's just perfect weather
10:00I wish it was a little bit warmer though
10:01it is actually kind of cold
10:03but yeah, just walking up to the beach right now
10:05and that right there behind me is the Haystack Rock
10:08so this is really famous for birds
10:11and especially puffins I think
10:13so we're going to go up close and see what it's like
10:15but yeah, I'm always so happy when I'm on a beach
10:19this feels so nice
10:29so fun fact I just learnt about Haystack Rock
10:32this rock is apparently over 15 million years old
10:36so it is ancient and over 2,000 different species of birds nest on it
10:49so for lunch we've come to this place called Pelican Brewing
10:52this place seems to be really popular for breweries
10:54even Portland actually
10:55and I've gotten myself some beer
10:58Aiman Jiju has some beer too
11:01let's try it out
11:02cheers
11:07this is really good
11:09how is yours?
11:10good, I like it
11:11this is really good beer
11:12this is really good beer
11:13so we're back from our day trip to Cannon Beach
11:24and it was honestly amazing
11:26loved it so much
11:27in case you didn't know
11:28Oregon is actually a tax free state
11:30so when you're shopping in Oregon
11:33and a few other states
11:34you don't need to pay extra sales tax
11:36so we were thinking we'll actually go get some shopping done while we're here
11:39it's already 7pm
11:41but there's a shopping mall right across RV Park
11:45so we're going to go check that out
11:46and see if you want to buy something
11:48and we're going to make some ready to eat food in our RV
11:51and yeah, do some shopping
11:53good morning everyone
12:05just having some breakfast right now
12:07so last night we had a bit of a mishap with the bathroom
12:11so close to midnight
12:13the water and the pot in the bathroom sort of like filled up
12:16we didn't know what was happening
12:17we thought maybe we needed to clear out the dump
12:19although they said that it takes like 3-4 days at least for the dump
12:22but anyway, we cleared that up
12:24disconnected the water supply
12:26but it kept happening
12:27then the water like came all over the RV floor
12:30and everything was wet here
12:32so it was really stressful
12:33we don't know what to do
12:34we called the RV owner
12:36and he helped us through the process
12:37he said that maybe
12:38there's toilet paper clogged in the tank
12:40so we cleared that up
12:41and then we drove all the way to the grocery store
12:44that was open at midnight
12:46which was like 10 miles away
12:47we drove there
12:48bought some disinfectant, mop and everything
12:50cleaned the whole RV
12:52it was quite an adventure for sure
12:53but when we connected the water pipe this morning
12:55the same thing happened
12:56so I don't really know what the issue is
12:58I think maybe it's just too much water coming in
13:00and we haven't been using as much water perhaps
13:03I don't know what it is
13:04so we've just disconnected the water for now
13:06so there's no water in the RV
13:07we all showered in the RV camp here
13:09we have bathrooms here
13:11yeah this was quite an experience
13:12not something we thought we would experience on this trip
13:15but I think we did good teamwork
13:16and cleaned up the whole RV
13:18it looks very very clean right now
13:20also I just realised
13:21I didn't give you guys a proper tour of the RV
13:23so let me do that right now
13:24so this is where you enter from
13:26when you're here
13:27right on the entrance is the kitchen
13:30so there's a sink and a wash basin here
13:32there's some storage space here
13:34and they've also provided us with some utensils
13:36a kettle, a toaster, stuff like that
13:39there's a stove here
13:40and on the top here there's a microwave
13:42over here we've got a fridge
13:45and also a freezer
13:47and as you walk in
13:49this is the bedroom
13:50the first one
13:51fits like two people
13:52again more storage there
13:53and also there are lights everywhere on the ceiling
13:55we don't have all the lights on right now
13:57and then this door is the bathroom
13:59the bathroom is actually quite big
14:01so we've got a shower area
14:03and more storage here
14:05there's actually tons of storage drawers here as well
14:07they provided us blankets and towels
14:10stuff like that was kept inside here
14:12then there's the sitting area
14:13so this is where we sit and eat our food
14:15and this blind can be pulled up
14:17so when we're driving
14:18we can actually see the view outside
14:20and finally this is my bed
14:22where Nila and I have been sleeping
14:24so we've dumped our stuff here for now
14:26but anyway the plan for today
14:27is that we're going to this place called Mount Hood
14:29it's a mountain like the name suggests
14:31and it's supposed to be very beautiful
14:33I think it's a two hour drive from here
14:35so that's where we're heading next
14:36and we're spending the night there
14:38in an RV park over there
14:40so we're all set to go to Mount Hood
14:42Shweta Didi how was your experience yesterday?
14:44not good
14:46do you want to do a trip like this again in the future?
14:49no
14:50never
14:51one and done
14:52I'm done
14:53I think Shweta Didi had like
14:54the most traumatic experience
14:56how was it for you?
14:57I thought it was great teamwork
14:59I thought we did a great job
15:00cleaning up
15:01looking at the bright side
15:03Nila how was it for you?
15:04you were asleep through all of that
15:06good
15:07it was good?
15:08we're going to a new place today
15:10are you excited?
15:11yeah
15:12so our first stop for the day is Hood River
15:36which you can
15:37I don't know if you can see it
15:38somewhere there in the back
15:39and we're stopping here to have lunch
15:41we're at this place called Frame Brewery
15:43that building that you see behind me there
15:45and the weather today is so nice
15:47I'm wearing thermals and stuff
15:49because I thought it's going to be freezing
15:51I think it might be when we get to Mount Hood
15:53but it is actually very warm right now
15:55so after a super scenic drive
16:18we have finally made it to Mount Hood
16:20you can see snow here
16:21the weather is so nice
16:22so we first drove to our RV camp
16:24checked that out
16:25and then we've come to this place here
16:27where a lot of snow activities happen
16:29so we have booked a session of tubing for ourselves
16:32a lot of people come here for skiing
16:34but we don't really know how to ski
16:35at least I don't
16:36so skiing isn't happening
16:38but Mount Hood is basically the name of this place
16:40and also the mountain here
16:41which we saw on the way
16:43it looked so beautiful
16:44also in case you watch the movie Shining
16:46it was mostly shot in this area
16:48so that was the drive we had
16:50and it was absolutely scenic
16:51but anyway
16:52let's go tubing
17:18so back from Mount Hood we're in our RV park
17:39tubing was so much fun
17:41like at night the lights went on
17:43and I think it looked super nice at night
17:45did you guys enjoy tubing?
17:47yeah
17:48and yeah right now we're just having dinner
17:50this is our last day of the trip
17:52did you know that Nila?
17:54how do you feel?
17:56good
18:02good morning everyone
18:03it's the last morning of our trip
18:05today we're heading back to Seattle
18:06the trip just like flew by
18:08this is our RV park
18:10I don't think I got to show you this yesterday
18:12but it's really nice
18:13it's right in the middle of the woods
18:15and we spent one night here
18:17I think it's called Mount Hood Village Resort
18:19but anyway right now
18:21we are just checking out from here
18:22and heading to this place called Timberland Lodge
18:24we're not staying there
18:25but it's supposedly a really beautiful place
18:27and from there I think you can get a view of the mountain as well
18:30so we're gonna go there have breakfast
18:32and then be on our way to Seattle
18:34so we've made it to Timberland Lodge
18:53and this place looks absolutely rustic and beautiful
18:56so like I mentioned yesterday
18:58the movie The Shining was also shot in this lodge
19:01I think in the movie it's called The Overlook Hotel
19:04but this is where it was shot
19:06this is also a ski resort
19:07so people are skiing, snowboarding
19:09and we are having the breakfast buffet here
19:11which looks incredible
19:31so overall it was super fun
19:40I loved it
19:41so initially my excitement was here
19:44and then it went down
19:45and then now it's here
19:47my favorite part of the trip
19:49was tubing
19:51it was wonderful
19:52it was the first time for me
19:53and I think driving the RV was fun
19:56it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be
19:58I guess the only downside
20:01was being able to like make sure
20:04that I clean up stuff
20:05every time we stopped
20:06but I think overall it was fun
20:08I think my favorite part of the trip
20:10was the tubing
20:11I loved how it started in the evening
20:14when there was still sunlight
20:15and then we went into the night
20:18with some really cool lights
20:20I wouldn't mind going on the RV again
20:22except next time
20:23except next time
20:24I think I'll probably want to
20:26make sure it works well
20:28and all the sensors are working
20:30before we head out
20:31I think I had an amazing experience
20:33the trip was so much fun
20:35and the RV is not something
20:36I feel like I would do on my own
20:38so it was really nice
20:39that I was traveling with
20:40Shweta Didi and Heyman Jiju
20:41and minus the cleaning
20:43that we had to do at night
20:44when we had the bathroom mishap
20:46but other than that
20:47I think it was super fun
20:48my favorite part was
20:50I think tubing
20:51and Mount Hood in general
20:52which is very surprising
20:53because we also went to a beach
20:54and I'm more of a beach person
20:56and while Cannon Beach was really nice
20:58I think the mountains were just amazing
21:00absolutely loved being here
21:02I think I would definitely enjoy
21:03doing an RV trip again
21:04but next time I'll probably want
21:06like a bigger RV maybe
21:08and I wouldn't mind doing this again
21:11Good!
21:12I went on an RV park
21:13and it's a home car
21:15it had a refrigerator
21:17a microwave
21:18a stove
21:19well not
21:20a bed
21:21and food
21:23would you want to go on the RV again?
21:25yeah
21:26like a trip like this?
21:27yeah
21:28but I want to go to this time
21:30I don't know
21:32to a different place?
21:34I want to go to Volcanoes
21:35a real active Volcanoes
21:36burst of love on your head
21:38was around
21:39ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
21:41And I'm waiting for you
