00:00Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has quipped that he will not be attending today's Turun Anwar rally
00:06as he was not invited by the organizers, he told reporters at an event in Putrajaya today.
00:12Separately, former PKR Vice President Tian Chua told FMT he will also not be attending the rally,
00:18although he was slated to speak at Datran Merdeka around 3.15pm based on a schedule sent by organizers.
00:25The Turun Anwar rally has been billed as the largest anti-government rally since Anwar was appointed prime minister in 2022.
00:34According to the organizers, PAS Youth, 300,000 participants are expected today, but police estimates put it at 10,000 to 15,000.
00:43What started as a protest against the planned Urban Renewal Act quickly shifted to a rally at Datran Merdeka demanding for Anwar to step down as prime minister.
00:52A similar protest in Sha'alam earlier this month drew just over 300 people.
00:58However, today's rally will feature several prominent politicians, including former Prime Ministers Dr. Mahathir Muhammad and Muhyiddin Yassin,
01:06and former Law Minister Saeed Ibrahim.
