During a press gaggle on Thursday, Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) spoke to CNN's Manu Raju about Lara Trump, wife of Eric Trump, who was rumored to be considering a run for Senate in North Carolina.
Transcript
00:00Were you disappointed that Laura Trump decided not to run in North Carolina?
00:06She'd been a great asset here, but all of us that have a family understand it's very difficult.
00:12There's a reason why there's only a few of us.
00:13I think there's five or six of us, maybe seven of us now, that actually have kids.
00:20And it's difficult to actually be a dad or a mom and run the schedule we had to run up here in the Senate.
00:27So I think the family consideration, I haven't talked to her about it, but I bet you the family consideration played a big role in that.
00:33Are Republicans concerned about Roy Cooper?
00:37I don't know. I haven't looked into him at all.
00:40I mean, I would say concern.
00:42We'll do opposition research on everybody.
00:45But, you know, North Carolina, we always knew it was going to be a battle filled.
00:50We expect that still to be true.
00:52We're not going to.
