00:00An unprecedented hunger crisis in Nigeria.
00:05This is the warning that the World Food Programme gave on Wednesday,
00:09saying that nearly 31 million people in Nigeria were facing acute food insecurity,
00:15all while funding for humanitarian aid was shrinking dramatically.
00:21Now the sad part is also that this crisis is not just in Nigeria.
00:26Across West and Central Africa, WFP is facing critical funding shortfalls
00:31that are forcing us to reduce and suspend many operations
00:35in some of the most fragile contexts in the continent.
00:39WFP in the region has dropped by 60% compared to last year.
00:46And now we are reaching only 5 million people,
00:48with Mali and Niger suffering cuts of over 80%.
00:53Faced with substantial funding cuts from August onwards,
00:57the UN Food Agency has announced that it will have to suspend humanitarian aid
