00:00The number of people forced from their homes by war, violence and persecution has reached a shocking new high, according to the UN Refugee Agency's latest report.
00:11By the end of April 2025, 122.1 million people were possibly displaced worldwide, up from 120 million last year.
00:21It marks the 12th straight year of rising global displacement.
00:26The main drivers include ongoing war in Sudan, Myanmar and Ukraine, as well as the international community's continued failure to stop the fighting.
00:38At the same time, humanitarian resources are shrinking with aid found and falling behind the pace of rising need.
00:45The only encouraging sign, a slight increase in people voluntarily returning home, particularly in Syria, though challenges remain en masse.
00:54The agency warns that without political will and sustained support, the world risks becoming numb to crisis while millions continue to suffer in displacement limbo.
