00:00Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's political secretary has rubbish claims that the initiatives announced

00:05earlier this week, including one-off cash aid of RM100 for every adult Malaysian are

00:10populist in nature.

00:12Shamsul Iskandar Akin also denied that they were given as goodies ahead of the next general

00:17election, citing the increase in Anwar's approval rating by an independent pollster.

00:22Merdeka Center said in June that Anwar's approval rating had risen to 55 percent from

00:2743 percent in the corresponding period last year.

00:31Shamsul said in an interview with TV Al-Hijra last night that the announcement was the result

00:36of administering the country for half a term and if the initiatives were election goodies,

00:41they would have been announced only later.

00:43Anwar announced the cash aid to be given under the Sumbangan Asas Rahma initiative in a special

00:48televised announcement on Wednesday.

00:50He also said that the allocation for the Rahma sales program for 2025 would be doubled to

00:55600 million ringgit and that September 15th would be an additional public holiday in conjunction

01:00with the Malaysia Day celebration.
