00:00the next song that we release um i sing quite differently on it i do it's quite okay that's
00:05quite high okay what's the name of the song can't tell you that okay you almost you almost got me
00:10you almost got me yeah i can't tell you that just yet
00:14lewis capaldi
00:19so all in all how does it feel to be back i feel good i feel excited i feel happy i feel
00:28energized i feel yeah refreshed and reinvigorated and ready to go good good so going back to that
00:35glastonbury stage two years later i imagine you had all the feels what were you kind of going
00:42through i was i was scared yeah scared little boy but um i really enjoyed it it became ended up being
00:49like the best one of the best days of my life yeah um uh until i'm sure i have a child or something
00:55right right right i might have a child and be like well actually
00:59glastonbury probably better than this um yeah yeah no it was it was incredible i just felt um
01:07it was weird it was like scary and stuff but it was like backstage was like really calm i basically
01:13i told everyone except from the band and the crew that i wasn't letting anyone backstage
01:18wow not because even my mom and dad and stuff because i was like i didn't want anyone else's sort
01:23of nervous energy rubbing rubbing up against me right i didn't want anyone rubbing up against me
01:29right yes yes uh only good rubs yeah yeah yeah i didn't want my mom and dad rubbing up against me
01:34backstage um but um sorry um no i didn't want anyone's yeah that never because i think obviously
01:40they are like my mom and dad animal management and stuff like they're all it's only natural like it's a scary thing for
01:46and friends who came and stuff as well like it's only natural they're all going to be like
01:51anxious yeah nervous after what happened last time so um i wanted it to feel as like calming as
01:57possible backstage so afterwards we celebrated with everybody but um it was uh yeah it was quite quiet
02:03chilled backstage before it and then we went out and did it and it was just yeah it was incredible
02:08good for you bro setting up those boundaries and stuff like they're just knowing knowing yourself well
02:14enough to be like you know what i need to i need to do this solo dolo yeah um so you performed uh
02:22survive yes for the first time live there um the fan reaction was just insane um what did that feel
02:31like were you were you happy just having it out into the world yeah i think so because that's the thing
02:35as well like i um was kind of thinking oh it'd be nice when i started to feel ready to do come back
02:44and do stuff and was probably the tail end of last year and i reached out to my manager and i said oh
02:49i'd like to do glastonbury again yeah and i'd like to release survive the same week um but it was on the
02:57lead up to that i was like this was a terrible decision because it was like oh this is actually quite a
03:02there's quite a lot going on now that i really felt like i might have bitten off more than i could
03:06chew but then it all came out together really nicely and stuff but it was definitely a a stressful few
03:12weeks in the lead up to it which is um what i'm trying to avoid but um it was um yeah it was nice
03:19i felt like it was really important to get it all out to get survive out on the same day that
03:24um glastonbury happened because i just felt like it was a nice um marketing ploy no i'm joking
03:29i felt like i felt like it was a nice um no just a really nice uh i don't know i wanted
03:36to feel so um i wanted people to know immediately here's where i'm at yeah yeah um when i came back
03:45so um so yeah it felt good and it was really good and then also i felt nervous playing it at this
03:51festival only not only because it's hard to sing and stuff but because people when i'm at a festival
03:55the last thing i want to hear is someone singing a new song i hate i hate when bands do that yeah
04:00yeah i hate play the hits yeah play the hits and leave swiftly you know what i mean um so yeah i had
04:08the people of glastonbury had to suffer for three minutes while i did that but um it was well you
04:13need a pee break bro no listen man we are emotionally tethered to your story now you have us we're you're
04:20good you're good so when you press pause and took a step back was this actually the first song you
04:24wrote when you uh no i wouldn't have been the first song i wrote okay but it was the first song
04:28when i felt like because that was the thing i wasn't really writing for the sake of i was just
04:33writing to write got you and maybe i'd write for other people and because there was a point where
04:37this wasn't um uh necessarily on the cards coming back i don't know if i'm lying when i say that to
04:44people it sounds like i'm lying now because you're like yeah but what else would you have done you're
04:48rubbish at everything else but um i um feel like uh i was yeah i was just kind of writing to write and
04:54maybe write for other people and stuff so it was then yes if i've came quite late yeah okay um
05:00and in terms of like the songs that are that will be coming out this year and this was probably the
05:05last one that i wrote no no no second last one second last one okay um so yeah it was just um
05:11a case of that it just felt this is that when i wrote a song i was probably oh this could maybe
05:16probably when i started having thoughts of this could be a single or this could be something that
05:21you know that i release when i come back and stuff so um so yeah it was it was definitely
05:26the catalyst for a lot of stuff this song so you announced some uh international shows what's up
05:34with the u.s tour i'm keeping it i'm keeping it i'm keeping it i'm saving the best to last
05:42you're gonna tell us nothing now yeah i don't i don't have any news unfortunately i i think early
05:49next year i'll come here and play some shows for sure um i would say i would like to aim for march
05:56next year got you but i don't i don't what what day i don't know what date in march what date i don't
06:04know and where's the first location i'm literally just saying things there's no like this there's
06:09literally no plan in place you're pressuring me mike and now i'm just rambling and saying
06:14i'll come in march okay um you know so moving forward now how are we protecting lewis capaldi
06:22like do you have um certain like things in place that you know where you remain happy and healthy
06:28what's up yeah well i do a lot less i a lot less work now uh i'll try and uh keep it um
06:35to like if i'm like for example this trip we've been on a trip in america for the last week and a
06:41bit yeah excuse me and then uh i there's been a lot more days off than maybe there would have been
06:48um not even like a lot more like two yeah so it's been um stuff like that like having sort of days
06:55where i'm not basically not just oh there it goes again once is once is fine twice is not coincidence
07:05um uh someone someone be farting up in here um
07:10yeah no i uh
07:16what was the question i don't know i don't know i mean oh yeah well i'm protecting myself
07:24oh yeah right right right very serious stuff actually serious stuff yeah nothing stands up
07:28against fart jokes i mean yeah yeah yeah um so i'm yeah taking a lot more time to like basically
07:35if i came america before i would squeeze right everything into as many any day i had free and now
07:41i'm chilling a little bit more uh i do therapy every week um i'm on medication for my tourettes
07:48and stuff and it's all uh thank you yeah cheers medication yeah big pharma woo but um yeah no so
07:58it's all it's good man i'm just i'm just trying to be less just have fun sure so have you found any
08:04like hobbies when you were away that that brought you pure joy and heavy heavy heavy drinking okay
08:10good yeah yeah pure joy yeah exactly no i i like i go outside more no i used to be quite uh i didn't
08:18realize how much time i spent indoors looking at my phone and trust me yeah i still look at that phone
08:23yeah i love looking at that phone you know where i was seated i had a i had a good butt shot of you
08:30so did you have two phones in your back pocket or was it one phone and a wallet i was looking i was
08:35my phone okay and then i've got how dare you my oh okay okay cool i was like hmm what is that other
08:44thing it's like a passport which is bizarre that i have it okay yeah my uh my sweet buns yeah i couldn't
08:55take my eyes away but um so uh being outside more that little bit bro it really helps yeah for sure
09:02i live near like a big greenery yes i won't say where in london but i live near that that a big green
09:10space in london yeah and i go there quite a lot and lie down yeah and sort of fall asleep outside yes
09:16really enjoying falling asleep outside at the minute you got to do it uh barefoot moving forward
09:20try to take it to the next level i hate feet okay so even your own even my own every day i wake up
09:26and i go god i hate you yeah yeah because you're just looking at them when you wake up really they're
09:32there cuss the cuss these blasted feet is what i say to myself do you sleep with socks on uh no i sleep
09:37with socks off oh you do yeah but uh yeah they're out there the dogs are barking gotcha all right yeah i'm
09:43sorry about that that's fine don't worry well all right uh before we wrap up um you know with this
09:50new project do you think fans will hear you know sonically a big difference or lyrically a big
09:56difference what do you think's the biggest no no no yeah uh there's a the next song that we release
10:04um i sing quite differently on it i do it's quite okay that's quite high okay uh like not like
10:11shouting i don't like uh a lot of my music is shouting yeah um and i i understand that yeah so it's a bit
10:17more uh soft and um delicate this next song what's the name of the song can't tell you that okay you
10:23almost you almost got me okay you almost got me yeah i can't tell you that just yet but um i yeah so
10:31that and then yeah there's another song on there um on there i'm doing an ep at some point so that's
10:37i was going to try i was trying to hide it but yeah yeah i'm obviously not going to announce other
10:41stuff and not release more music do you know what i mean yeah um so there's another song that is
10:45really like the lyrical the lyrical um content of it is probably the most personal song we've written
10:51so that's uh that's coming out soon also um and uh yeah so i don't know it's still the system pop
10:59music baby yeah still pop music but um i yeah yeah i like it a lot i like this this is my favorite
11:05stuff i've written good until i write the next stuff and i need to sell that and i'll say the
11:09same thing about that as it should be bro i mean that's that's important yeah um we got two questions
11:14from fans that are here actually so we're gonna wrap with those two um we have ariel from south
11:20richmond hill queens hello hi um what is the biggest goal you hope to accomplish with your return to
11:29music uh i i try not to set goals anymore i'll tell you why ariel um i basically i felt like in
11:40the past it became quite um i'm not saying being goal orientated is a bad thing but for me i became
11:45quite uh obsessed with like hitting markers and doing this and i need to do this thing and if i
11:50don't do this thing this has been a failure if i don't do this thing this has been i've not worked
11:54hard enough and for me right now the goal is just to get back play some songs have a good time
11:59release music have fun and um yeah that is so yeah i guess the goal is to just enjoy myself and be back
12:05here doing it i kind of achieved the goal by being here do you know what i mean so yeah and we have
12:11debbie from brooklyn debbie hello debbie how are you what song i i didn't know do you want to continue
12:18no just say how are you sorry just just making checks yes no no i know i felt like i interrupted
12:23you well what song are you most proud of writing and why oh yeah the most song probably most proud
12:28of writing is a song that's on this upcoming ep uh ep yeah um it's called the day that i die
12:36and it's sad but um it's good i think sad but good i like it i really like it i like i like um
12:44the sort of sadness in it but it's like a sad but it's happy yeah i think that's that there's hope
12:50in there there's hope let's go there's hope there's hope there's hope it's a it's a it's a it's a sad
12:55it's a sort of a side a lovely um it's a happy song about death cool there you go you were great
