*** UPDATE NEXT DAY after review went live, Tested this PC with Windows 11 Pro Fresh Install, bios update, thermal paste to PTM7950 upgrade and it was giving me dropped frames. OPENED A RETURN ITEM on eBay and sending it back as it is a CPU/GPU Issue and NOT FAULT OF LINUX. So keep that in mind when watching the review, as This may possible be Perfect LAPTOP IF IT IS A WORKING UNIT.
I am in search of my PERFECT Linux Laptop, and I start out this video with high hopes.
The laptop we reviewed was the inspiron 7620 with the i7 1260p processor. which comes with 12 cores, 4 performance 8 efficiency and Iris XE graphics.
The monitor is higher resolution than 4k because it is 16x10 aspect ratio. The ram is ddr4 probably 3200mhz sodimm and is upgradeable. The graphics is mx550.
I didn't want just another windows laptop because I have stacks of those already I wanted to see the linux performance on it and I felt like I got way too many dropped frames with this laptop. And it got as high as 60c on hotspots with my thermal imaging camera.
The speakers worked that are upward firing. The thing got way too toasty and had bad playback using Zorin 17.3 based on 22.04 Ubuntu LTS
Overall it was interesting experience to figure out what is the best laptop. I think the dropped frames came from the laptop overheating. I thought maybe I can remove the heatsink and do PTM7950 to the thermal paste, as it may have dried out but it was covered with some sort of thermal paper, I decided against it, and probably will return the unit for not performing as specified with hitting 60c playing back 4k video and dropping a bunch of frames probably due to thermal throttling. Maybe this laptop would have been okay if that GPU was not heat soaking the cooling fan.
WHAT WORKED:
ALL the Buttons Worked Out the Box
Sound upward Firing worked
Video PlayBack was abysmal with too many dropped frames, maybe old thermal paste or incompatibility of Intel chips with Linux, so Would NOT Recommend this laptop for Linux USERS
WHAT I recommend FOR LINUX USERS for something that works with FLAWLESS Video playback is this 2-in-1, even though it has only 16gb soldered ram:

As I use this laptop now and came to LOVE LINUX, Zorin OS using this platform. Maybe it's a better compatibility with the RYZEN chip which works much better out the box.

00:00guys welcome to my review of the dell inspiron 7620 2-in-1 i7 1260p cpu process that's 12 cores
00:10with four performance eight efficiency cores with iris xc graphics uh this this laptop has 4k uh
00:18oled touch screen i'm not sure if it has pen support i don't know if it will support my hp
00:24envy pen i don't know so i still have my gloves on because i just cleaned it off with uh rubbing
00:32alcohol um so why did i buy this laptop well i'm on a quest for the perfect laptop and this one kind of
00:45caught my eye plus i got this on ebay for reasonably inexpensive uh this 4k screen laptop
00:52it came with um let's see it's a 16 inch screen apparently or 15.6 something like that all right
01:07i'll control delete
01:12okay so you could select if can you select something
01:17can we turn it off okay so 16.2 what's cool about it oh man windows 11 i just don't like it
01:34i'm gonna back up just a little bit right now i'm using the inspiron 7530 laptop dell
01:44why am i using this one this one has the ryzen 7730u but i wanted a laptop that i could use for all kinds
01:56of tasks including uh movie watching uh so i already have an eight terabyte drive in here
02:05um that i want to transfer here so what i noticed the same about in both designs is that there's upwards
02:14of firing speakers what i learned is that hp puts a grill on their oled laptops
02:24and doesn't put a speaker there so you see this is an oled hp laptop so tell me how you put this
02:31grill here this huge grill that makes you assume that there's a speaker there but no there's not a
02:37speaker over here just a little corner of the of this laptop i think there is a speaker so with this hp
02:46and see also i have bidlocker recovery because i popped out the drive then i put another one in and
02:51uh long story it's just
02:55pretty nice laptop
02:56this guy was like 800 this one was about 430 plus tax so let's say about 480 dollars with an oled
03:12touch screen also this one has an additional benefit is that it has a fingerprint touch and what i've
03:19personally found with these laptops at least with the dells is that they work out the box
03:27with zoran os zoran os uses ubuntu so see it all started with this guy this is uh the 35 35 plastic
03:39chassis laptop so not the most premium thing but when i installed zoran os everything worked out the box
03:48then it went the drive wound up getting transferred to there i'm using the encryption on it and it's
03:57just as easy as one two three as easy as pi to transfer the stuff so what do i want to do today
04:06i want to take the eight terabyte drive from here and put it in here and see if everything works at
04:15least that i need out of the box so my question for for you becomes is does it have pen support
04:23is the ram upgradable this makes this laptop stand out as opposed to other ones for example this 7730u
04:32laptop the i think this is the dell 7530 uh it has soldered on ram so it has only 16 gigs of ram
04:42the laptop i showed you the hp has 32 gigs i wanted more ram so technically if this is upgradable i
04:50could upgrade this laptop already to 64 gigs and have the most positive experience there what i found
04:56is when i installed it took the zoran drive and i put it on the hp laptop is that certain programs
05:02didn't work there's a program i use mb theater for a video playback of my home movies and uh it was
05:10freezing up and not working on the seven on the 7730u laptop the dell it worked perfectly also what
05:17was not working on the hp laptop was all of the buttons like for example the print screen button
05:23for me which is important because you're doing a lot of print screening stuff because you want to
05:26like you know take screenshots and stuff didn't work i also didn't like that on the hp laptop that
05:32they charge so much money and they don't put an upward firing speaker even though there's a grill there
05:38you know it makes you assume that there is upward firing speakers but over here it says quad speakers
05:44right here on the bottom so that's what i really loved about this laptop the 7730u
05:50is that the upward firing speaker when you're working on it and you put on some classical music
05:55the upward firing gives you a nice stereo sound so who is this video for this is the video for
06:03people that are looking to switch over to linux and are uh trying to figure out which laptop is best
06:10for them and which one they should get so i might be uh hitting myself in the foot with this but uh
06:18probably won't be because chances are if it works on this dell it might work on others what i discovered
06:25from personal research right on the ubuntu uh laptop on the zoran os which is based on ubuntu
06:35is that dell has a partnership with ubuntu so dells are designed out the box to work with linux so this
06:44is one of those things that linux people aren't talking about that linux doesn't have drivers with windows
06:51you have drivers you install a driver you can get uh windows to work on any operating system
06:58but with a linux operating system if it's not part of what's called the kernel the internal operating
07:05system then it is just not going to work so previously i got on that laptop the one that i've
07:14been using really enjoying too and that made me upgrade and see what it did so which first brought
07:22me to the hp laptop uh which was kind of like a bust so in my video review i said i might sell it
07:29i don't know i think i still might because if i can't use it on both windows and linux where if i
07:36feel like i just pop it open throw in another drive-in i prefer to just uh something that is compatible
07:43with linux and is compatible with my creativity i would love for pen support to work but it's not
07:51that necessary for me touch is more important that's the thing about the zorn os i wound up using the
07:58ubuntu uh screen where on the left side it's very easy to press and switch between the programs
08:05so so far out of the box i am loving this laptop i mean the two-in-one feature set is kind of cool
08:14i'm wondering if this kind of like feature set like this if the uh switching around into tablet mode
08:23would actually work very well with it i'm not sure we shall see so you could have a tablet and that's one
08:31of those things i realized about linux that other operating systems don't have is that linux has
08:37this app for reading pdfs called events events or the linux operating system itself i don't know how
08:45this works but it looks like it's the same across all ubuntu operating systems is that it remembers your
08:51spot in the pdf windows and mac just don't have it they just don't have it how do you not remember
09:01my spot in the pdf i have a 2000 page pdf i read a lot of stuff about law about computers about
09:07everything else and coming back to it i don't know what spot i was at so the question is this we pose
09:17this question is this the perfect
09:23perfect linux laptop we're going to be only testing it with so perfect laptop obviously with a caveat for
09:35me so so far with my experience taking that same os drive the zoran or taking zoran os and installing on
09:47the 35 35 dell is that it's been a seamless experience out of the box everything working
09:54video playback works great and everything like that getting you get into the hp hp stuff doesn't work
10:01one model i had a 70 730 u model didn't work i mean the speakers didn't work on it on this one too
10:10the speakers didn't work out the box too so you would have to use headphones with it so how do you have
10:15a laptop that you have to only use headphones with that's not very convenient and how do you have
10:19speakers that don't have upwards firing i actually opened the laptop up and it didn't even have speakers
10:26grill like speakers built in there it's actually speakers are only built into their higher end line
10:33called the hp spectre the envy is like you're sitting there envying the spectre guy who got the full feature
10:43set who got the speaker grill with an actual speaker underneath it not a fake speaker grill not a
10:50full speaker grill not a decorative speaker grill but a real speaker grill with dell you have a speaker
10:57grill you have a speaker underneath that just like that was just like mind-blowing okay so next what we're
11:06gonna do is we're gonna pop this laptop open and see what's inside because we're trying to upgrade
11:13you know change the drive from that dell to this dell and we'll see what this experience is like
11:20so that we could see what yeah what it's like
11:24okay so it uses uh standard head screws so that's one of those things um the dell
11:37that's an interesting design so it looks like these top three screws are captive
11:42so it pops open the lid just a little bit
12:03so notice it pops open the lid that's kind of nice that's a well design
12:07that's what i liked about the dell 3535 it has a 7730u processor and it had ddr4 memory that's
12:20upgradable i believe this one is a ddr4 memory on it also what i do like about it is that it has two
12:28usb4 ports so if you want a 10 gigabit ethernet on this you could technically use it i also do like
12:36that it does have a gpu in there uh but it's anemic at best it's an mx550 or a 450 so nothing to write
12:46home about but it is kind of included so we'll see how that works outside the box out the box using this
12:55thing so let's see
12:57okay it looks like that middle screw becomes not captive after you pull off the thing okay so first
13:12order of business is to disconnect the battery the battery is right here right and this battery goes here
13:20no where is the battery i'm not even sure where's the battery so this looks like a speaker motherboard
13:34so we do have ddr4 memory upgradable so if this works i think i'm going to upgrade it to 64 gigs which is cool
13:46it is uh doing this whole thing with uh putting one of these crappy small little drives in here
13:56that this drive is kind of like unusable other places unless you use an adapter
14:01it's a 2230 uh drive i think 512 gigs
14:06let's see what do we like about it we like the upgradable ram
14:16we don't like this kind of bending um let's see the speaker
14:26this battery oh this is the battery right here okay see it says battery
14:33so we unplug the battery
14:43you shouldn't use something metal there let's use this plastic sponge or thing
14:58okay
14:58so guys if you ever upgrade your laptop make sure you disconnect the battery first
15:06first things first so i do have a windows 10 operating system that i might want to just throw
15:15in here just to test it out what i was reading about the functionality of these ports over here
15:21so we have a full size sd card slot this is it looks like a ss5 5 gigabit uh usb 3.0 or 3.1 port
15:30and on this side we have two thunderbolt 4 ports and hdmi output this hdmi output is only 1080p60
15:38so if you were expecting to connect to your home theater or something like that that is not a viable
15:45option on this laptop so that's a minus uh this is a usb c5 gigabit and these are thunderbolt
15:53uh 4 ports so these are thunderbolt 4 so that's usb 4 speeds i guess but better than usb 4 um that's kind of interesting
16:04makes me kind of interested
16:11this is probably a gen 4 port i just don't know how to do the test in linux
16:17i do have a windows 10 clone operating system that we could test out this portion of it
16:26and we don't even have to plug in the battery back in we could just test out with windows 10
16:31what kind of like drive speeds we're getting so i'm going to take out this drive
16:41so that's the kind of thing that they use is this like kind of like bracket you could kind of use it
16:49other places technically um so this guy gets set aside i mean technically you could use it in a full
16:57size thing sometimes these brackets get a little annoying so this is still usable in another in
17:02another pc if i wanted to okay
17:13so this is a 512 gig with a windows 10 install let's pop that right in
17:19i just want to see test what speed this thing is so i think this is a gen 4x4 drive
17:32i think it is i hope it is
17:48so i'm not going to bother putting the battery back in let's just test it out
17:52close the little up and connect it like this connect the power
18:13maybe it doesn't power on with the
18:28ah
18:28did i turn that off
18:34maybe you need the battery plug then let's see battery plug back in let's get that plug back in
18:45we don't need the screws screwed back in let's get this battery plugged in
18:50boom boom or we could just pop on these screws just a little bit
19:07minimal amount so it just doesn't go anywhere let's see this maybe it has an open chassis kind of like
19:16okay now it's turning on plug that in
19:27okay f2 let's go right into the bios
19:36okay so this is the bios we have inspiran 7620 two and one bios ownership date it looks like this
19:45service tech manufactured 11 17 2022
19:50signed firmware battery level health is excellent battery level is 96. ac adapter battery state ac adapter
19:59not installed
20:03i don't know so we have boot configuration we could switch between the different boots integrated devices
20:15this is really pretty
20:20page down it's like a page down thing
20:28okay enable thunderbolt thunderbolt boot support enable thunderbolt pre-boot modules
20:33i don't know what all that means storage hci
20:41smart reporting display display brightness touch screen on
20:48full screen logo don't know what that means connection
20:52wlan these fields allow enabling disable internal wlan so you could turn off the wlan which is really
20:58cool bluetooth you could turn on and off enable ufe network stack okay
21:07power adaptive express charge primarily ac use let's do that one because i'm gonna have it plugged into
21:14the thing battery lifespan who primarily operate their system while plugged in on an external power force
21:19this is the way that i use my system
21:24advanced enable advanced battery configuration something something something thermal management
21:30uh
21:33i want my process to be cool that is cool i do like that
21:39wake on dell usb c dock don't know what that means block sleep
21:46block sleep enable the option to disable the lid switch on
21:50when enabled the settings allows the system to power up or for love from an off state
21:59with the lid is off in a speed shift enable speech of technology support okay security
22:06um intel platform trust technology on sim security
22:11okay i hope you guys appreciate this video if you haven't thumbed up subscribe please do so right now
22:24i'm making this video mostly for me yeah you guys have to understand this that
22:27um i'm a computer enthusiast just like you guys and i haven't been sponsored by anybody
22:33other than if you use an affiliate link uh i might get a kickback but i really don't care about that
22:38don't use the link use the link whatever you feel like i'm just trying to help others that are
22:43on the linux journey and by helping others i help myself
22:48it's like um there's a phrase that's out there that says you can't help others without helping yourself
22:53so uh there's a whole bunch of stuff that i have no clue about system management service tag blah blah
23:01blah blah you guys might not now know my service tags which is fine i don't mind keyboard so keyboard
23:10enable num lock fun fn lock change the functions so you could do lock mode uh if this option is
23:17selected the f1 f2 can be code to theirs for their secondary if this option f1 are function traditionally
23:26lock mode standard okay uh i think that works so illumination with the dim bright
23:46interesting
23:49keyboard back backlight timeout on battery
23:52okay okay one minute okay pre-boot behavior this is okay so so far uh what i'm seeing is that this
24:00is like the most um in-depth um i've seen of the different things of the different virtualization
24:09support i do like this virtualization technology performance all cores into a speed step c states
24:17exit exit low profile states i do like the idea of low profile enable adaptive states for discrete
24:23graphics yes intel doc okay and system logs ownership data is successful and date is set successfully
24:35uh keep log and then let's see overview
24:39uh processor type memory so we got ddr4 sodiums dual channel 3840 by 2400 and it has the mx550 okay mx550
24:56exit exit
25:06uh do you want to save changes yes i do like that that was really cool
25:14so what do i do like so far i do like the touch screen the the this opening button for opening it up
25:22and now we're going to boot up right into windows 10 hopefully
25:27windows 10 is where i have a few apps pre-installed including the app to mine monero
25:45so let's see
25:46look at this guy
26:07maybe it's this power bank
26:11i'll be right back guys so it looks like this laptop can charge at 100 watt rate without an issue
26:23and this is the hash rate that it gets mining monero which is about half of what you get on the 8 core 16
26:32thread 7730 u so for the monero mining this is not the ideal laptop however
26:41for watching video online this might be
26:48huh looks like the screen
26:54is not
26:57pre-installed on the operating system which is fine
27:01uh let's see youtube let's go i'm so used to touching the thing okay youtube
27:14uh let's do this and then turn off the volume because we don't want
27:19so on windows 10 the this playback is crappy at best
27:31okay so what else can we do on windows 10 that we want i just want to do a speed test of the drive
27:38it is crystal let's do a quick crystal disk mark
27:44oh man
27:47on second thought let's try windows 11 because this is i think a gen 4 drive
27:53uh
27:55that should work better and it's a samsung because this is uh and it's also has windows 11 so it should
28:02probably work better with this laptop like the touch screen and all that good stuff
28:08so this is probably a gen 4 drive and i just don't want to mess around with the windows 11
28:18i'm done messing around with windows
28:20these operating systems are microsoft spyware and i don't want them anymore
28:26so we're going to go straight to um
28:31zoran i'm going to do the transplantation of the 8 terabyte drive into here there's no need to
28:37look into here and if you want to see what it looks like on the inside of the 7730u dell
28:42just go to my video review of it where i open it up so what i do like on the inside of this laptop
28:50is the upgradable ram make sure you guys always disconnect the battery
28:53the upgradable ram is something that is missing out of most laptops nowadays so one thing that might
29:01make this the perfect laptop is that you could do upgrade upgrade ability to uh the
29:0864 gigs of uh ram in here or maybe even 96 you could so you could have a really really powerful
29:15laptop thing it does only have one slot for nvme nvme ssds and i'm fingers crossed that it's gonna work
29:25out of the zoran os thing also i do like that it has an 87 watt hour battery so in 87 watt hour it should
29:33be able to run uh without uh battery for a long time so this is the 7730u laptop this is where the cpu
29:42is and there's no um there's soldered ram the ssd is in the same spot and the battery is 64 watt hours
29:52but perhaps also this is a very power efficient processor so that's not a big deal and this is
29:57this this um thing is split into two parts so that's kind of interesting um and over here
30:06one of the things to notice is over here this little speakers part this part goes towards the
30:12center and gives you an upward firing speaker so there's i think maybe a downward firing speaker
30:18and an upward firing speaker the upwards firing speaker is the one that i do like
30:24so the video is playing i turned off the volume so that i don't get like a copyright strike or
30:29something so the keys do work um let's see the fans are spinning off it is playing 4k 60. let's do
30:42is there a stats for nerds
30:45uh stats for nerds 328 viewport frames is 1920 by 1080 366 dropped
30:53uh not really sure what that means uh so that part is working the upward firing speakers are working
31:05so let's see the touch screen is working
31:13so i'm gonna close this guy
31:15i think i might need to install uh some sort of um nvidia drive for graphics drivers let's hear
31:29this guy decentralized i've played this before they urge you what you say they say they're building
31:34freedom while they steal your life oh that's what it is
31:49oh so i might have done something with that with with the little uh i have an extension that
31:56sharpens the stuff
32:04so there is upwards firing speakers and downward firing speakers that's pretty good
32:16they tell you how to vote commanding what you feel they sterilize your mind with lies and make
32:26their fiction
32:51that is beautiful
32:52that is nice
33:01so that's the highest light settings so the keyboard turns on and off
33:08it is kind of getting hot print screen does work
33:20so what else
33:27i don't know what this one something about stuff the print screen home
33:32okay so that works so over here the wi-fi
33:38allows the wi-fi networks to show up
33:42bluetooth works
33:42you could do nightlight
33:47amfrey mode power saver you could do performance
34:04do you ever feel do you ever feel do you ever feel that it's too much it's so much it's so
34:17viewport frame is 1361 by 766 260 jobs
34:22do you ever wish do you ever wish do you ever wish that there's something so there seems to be some sort
34:26of drops with the playback
34:28maybe it's too strong with uh
34:35you don't really have to take it like that don't make it like that you can change all that
34:40when you feel like it's out of control it's in with the new out with the old
34:45a lot of drops 307
34:53okay so now i'm gonna test out mb and i'll let you know if it works
34:57okay
35:07i'm gonna turn off the volume for now so that's the
35:13resolution 3840 by 2400 so it's doing higher than 4k
35:20and a 200 resolution and it's at 60 hertz so i could definitely do various different scalings
35:29so what can i say this is uh phenomenal that it is working um
35:38so i am getting a lot of dropped frames i don't know what this means put your comments down below why
35:45there's so many uh dropped frames going on here i think maybe it's because the playback is just
35:52way too much maybe the 4k feed playback is just maybe way much so let's try 1440 p60
36:06so five dropped six dropped seven dropped eight dropped nine dropped so
36:10what can i say this laptop is phenomenal for the screen quality that it is
36:24let's see uh krita let's do krita
36:33will this accept a pen
36:34uh new image create 25 6 25 50 by 40 44
36:45so no this does not accept the touch pen or at least this one i think it's hp only ones that accept
36:52it but you know what uh to me it's more important to have that kind of like nice screen
36:59uh than than having the touch pen support and being able to have the stuff working out the box
37:08so so far the volume has worked perfectly out the box the other stuff has worked out the box
37:13um i think i need to install some sort of nvidia drivers i got to figure out how to do it
37:19this is zoran os i just find it very convenient that i can have an eight terabyte drive and let's say
37:25i get tired of this laptop i could transfer over the drive to another thing this part is getting really hot
37:34so we're talking about 72 it's using 72 watts so it looks like it's charging it and doing that
37:45so now let's see the temperature of this
37:51of this assembly
37:52it might be partially because it's charging it might be also partially because of linux apparently
38:00linux sucks in uh power levels so um that's one of those things to watch out for
38:10getting into but one of those things that okay wow
38:15so it looks like a high temps over here
38:19is at 58 60 60 60 celsius uh
38:34right where the fan is
38:37okay interesting so this might be a really hot running laptop
38:43let's see see see this part
38:56so we do have only one cooling fan we do have the entire thing heating up
39:03so it's like 52 53 and it looks like it does sound like a jet plane with all the stuff running
39:11while i guess it's on standby it looks like it's on 16 watts
39:18i didn't do do my usual windows 10 test with it now let's see this part
39:25will it accept my fingerprint click here i guess
39:32uh-huh interesting so for some of you guys this might be a heating issue
39:50so perhaps the way to explain it is that we are running a very very uh high-end powerful screen here
40:00and then the question becomes do you really need a high-end powerful screen like this
40:04on a laptop well personally for me i do need it
40:15that kind of wakes it up bang
40:19bluetooth wi-fi turn that off turn on nightlight turn off dark mode
40:25that's really cool okay guys um i don't want to make this video any much longer than this
40:33so the test to me has been a success um
40:40i do probably need to install an nvidia driver in order for the frames to stop dropping off
40:44uh but overall this is a good laptop it has the upward firing stuff this is what i've been looking for
40:54um if you add a gpu to a laptop it probably does get it hotter
40:58for me i personally want to be able to watch like a movie like 4k streaming from amazon prime or whatever
41:08uh in beautiful colors uh in all the colors you just can't get better than that
41:14uh at the high resolution which is really nice the keys work the print screen works
41:20this button i don't know if i need to install some sort of driver for it or something like that
41:24i'll figure that part out um the other features do work it does have usbc charging
41:33i do like that it has thunderbolt so technically if you want 10 gigabit on this networking uh
41:39networking on this you could uh upward firing speaker it has them it works out the box with ubuntu
41:47uh with xorin os which is not ubuntu but is ubuntu is based on ubuntu
41:54so if you installed an ubuntu operating system uh based like maybe probably lime uh whatever the the
42:02linux lime lemon mango peach so what i don't like about it hdmi port is only 1080p60
42:15what what what i don't like about it um perhaps the fan noise however until they get these uh
42:23processors more power efficient and linux figures it figures out the power saving technology that
42:30windows has um like probably can't do much about it um what i do love about the system
42:38is the ability to upgrade imagine now i have a daily driver linux laptop could that could have
42:4664 gigs of ram how much video editing you can you do and with the nvidia mx 550 graphics chips
42:55technically you could run some sort of video editing and do the graphics processor on that
43:00plus iris xc graphics is pretty decent and processing graphics also so that's awesome out the box um
43:10yeah so what i see this is the perfect linux laptop i would say yes for me for now
43:18some of you might point to the lenovo thinkpad and all those other ones okay lenovo thinkpad the other
43:27guys give me a touch screen that's oled and then maybe yes because that's one of those things with
43:32a 16 inch screen is that you do want to watch a youtube video of like beautiful nature scenes or you
43:38want to watch uh some streaming and stuff like that in the highest resolution quality possible this
43:44is it upward firing speakers so and it has better support than hp it's not making a envy which is
43:52like in the middle you're like the envy but you still don't get all the features because specter is
43:57the full featured uh option you know as i said i'm gonna keep ranting about the speaker grill
44:03and hp can go f themselves that they don't make an operating system a laptop that can be compatible
44:10with ubuntu because dell and ubuntu they made a partnership here's here's like all the drivers
44:17here's here's how to make our software work the buttons work out the box and all the other things
44:22so that's the nice thing about the um zora and os operating system is i can have all my work that i'm
44:28doing on an eight terabyte drive if this guy fails god forbid uh i just don't go back to the old dell
44:34laptop plug it in and i'm back to doing work on another touch screen laptop so i have a backup to
44:41my backup and plus you need to back up the backups backup so say that three times fast and then if
44:49anything i could always use the plastic shelled one the 35 35 77 30u laptop the drive is encrypted so
44:57this thing is kind of cool so if you need to defend yourself in a dark alley john wick style
45:01uh with this plus this pencil and you're good you know you are good you got a shield and you got a
45:08sword so the pen is mightier than the sword in the case of john wick anything is more powerful than
45:14anything um i don't know if you guys seen the movie you'll get the reference um so beautiful laptop
45:22beautiful screen so so far i'm impressed put your comments down below is this the preferred linux laptop
45:29what have you guys seen i was looking at uh gram oled two and one however i don't know what kind
45:36of linux support it has and then the next question i ask you guys what about ubuntu 2503 the latest ubuntu
45:45could that have better drivers for the hp that's what i might test next with hp is that i get the screen
45:51for bitlocker i'd rather destroy that operating system and install ubuntu 250 something because it
46:00might have the latest linux operating kernel thing that might have better touch support for it and
46:06stuff like that to figure out what's the best laptop but for me the best laptop is upward firing
46:12speakers so i can have beautiful musical experience beautiful video watching experience have the desk
46:18career list to the state to do the stop the big watt hour battery is phenomenal um the bonus is
46:25fantastic and the upgradability of the ram so chef's kiss on this laptop this is this is a fantastic laptop
46:35and for me being a new linux user and trying out zorn os a couple weeks back i did do a head-to-head
46:42pop os linux mint and zoran so far zoran has been winning but then i haven't tried ubuntu 25 or something
46:52because zoran os 17.3 which this is is based on ubuntu lts uh 22 something 22 and change 2203 something
47:03like that uh and then you have an ubuntu that is at 25 that has the latest kernel so one of the things i
47:11learned is that it's not as simple as windows you just have a driver you press the driver install
47:16and the thing works you just they don't make drivers for things for some reason it's like
47:21unless it's included with the kernel and the only way it's included with the kernel is that if the
47:26manufacturer like dell publishes it to the kernel thing uh canonical i think it's called and then
47:33canonical puts it into their uh kernel and that gets distributed i just want it to be simple i just
47:41want hey linux here's a linux usb kind of like windows you install it on anything and it just works
47:46on anything how simple would that be or if you had like um like for windows there is a thing called
47:54driver easy or sdio sdio is like the free version of what driver easy does it scans your system and just
48:01downloads the best driver and installs it for you so there's like no headaches with the drivers
48:06so that's the only thing i guess that i guess that linux is missing is that power saving features for
48:12laptops the button support for the laptops maybe some touch support or whatever uh to make them all
48:18work so overall i do love this laptop i'm excited to use it watch some great movies watch some youtube
48:24videos and enjoy it every day i'll figure out the dropped frame thing if that bothers you just go for the
48:31other dell the 7520 uh you could get that for about i got mines in auction for like 300
48:39uh the set with the 7730u uh previously reviewed i reviewed it so so far my best success with the
48:48zoran os which is based on ubuntu has been with dell laptops so you're looking for a perfect laptop
48:55just probably get a used dell they just made so many different versions of so many different laptops
49:01it's fantastic um so this laptop has the thunderbolt 4 which the dell doesn't have and then the
49:09question becomes how well does the thunderbolt even give you positive effects inside an operating
49:15system like zoran because ubuntu i think turns off usb 4 every time you disconnect it or something i don't
49:22know anyways more discussion following along i hope you enjoyed the video thumb up subscribe i'll see you
49:29in the next one and have a blessed day bye bye so on second thought uh if you guys were planning to get
49:36this uh dell inspiron 7620 um i think either it might have been mine or it could be a linux kind of like
49:45issue uh running this hot out of the box playing a video it's been dropping frames i tried installing a few
49:56things uh since then and it seems the fan is spinning it's taking like 60 watts from the wall
50:05and um i'm noticing it's i think the issue why it's dropping frames is because this specific laptop is
50:14overheating um this might actually go back to the original buy seller of it
50:22because he didn't describe the issue of it overheating um when he sold the laptop and i think that's the
50:30reason why he might have sold this laptop is that maybe the thermal paste is bad uh perhaps the thermal
50:37paste could be changed and that parameter could be fixed so it's kind of like oh maybe i should be
50:46checking into the newer models of dells uh that do have an oled screen um check out their website
50:53because if this laptop is overheating now what will happen in the future so the most important things
51:00that we did figure out with this laptop with this dell inspiron 7620 is that it does work with linux
51:11but perhaps the maybe the cpu on it might be anemic so it's not running the processor as good as it should
51:20and um i do like the upgradable ram as i mentioned
51:24but if i can't play back video without dropping frames this is uh not a good laptop then
51:32so my search continues and uh perhaps maybe like what i'll settle on is my 7730u laptop uh the dell uh
51:45that plays everything fine i haven't seen any drop frames yes it's a 1080p screen however uh for me it's
51:53important that i have like nice smooth experience rather than uh dealing with issues that this laptop
51:59apparently has so popping out that drive the eight terabyte drive just to add to the review of that
52:07video you see this 4k video is being played back on this hp laptop at 4k zero dropped frames so there's
52:20something wrong with that laptop it's not my it might not be the issue with the laptop i just wanted to
52:25show on a different laptop this is has a newer generation processor it has the 155u in it uh and also
52:33oled screen touch and it has a fake speaker grill and the speakers don't work um also the print screen
52:42button doesn't work uh which kind of sucks uh but this is this is what you get like out of the box
52:52and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and the screen touch and
