00:00Behind every hit song, behind every hit song, every hit song is the person who wrote it,
00:23is the person who wrote it, is the person who wrote it,
00:25you may not know our faces, but you definitely know our music,
00:31these are the songs people dance to, they cry to, even f*** to, definitely f*** to,
00:37they love to, and even, my grandma would disown me if I said that,
00:42we've all been through love, heartbreak, and everything in between,
00:47the one thing we do, is put all those feelings, to music,
00:50from Ariana Grande, to BTS, to Sabrina Carpenter, to Justin Bieber,
00:59there's no artist that we haven't written for,
01:02we, we, we, are hit makers, are hit makers, are hit makers,
01:15a writer's camp is a retreat that is attended by the best songwriters in the music industry,
01:20putting a camp together like this, costs hundreds of thousands of dollars,
01:27this isn't just an investment from the label, or the artist, it's an investment for us,
01:32we're leaving our family, our friends, you know, to be here,
01:36you don't get paid to be at a songwriting camp, you only get paid as an artist picks your song,
01:40and you get a hit, these camps can make or break a career,
01:44if you don't write a hit, you won't be invited back,
01:47I'm just not writing just to write a song, I'm trying to write a smash every time,
01:55if you don't get a good song on the first day, people start looking at you sideways,
02:03you got six hours to write a hit song, I don't think I'm nervous,
02:07you know, it's cool to get out of LA, New York, Atlanta, go to a secluded place,
02:17you know, not to be interrupted by your everyday life, and just focus on writing music,
02:22it's a competition, all the time,
02:32that's so fucking hard, that's a fucking mad,
02:35if you get a hit, your life can change overnight,
02:38we're making money today,
02:40the industry is very cutthroat,
02:429 out of 10 is not good enough,
02:44there is a lot of pressure,
02:45that's good, we ain't got no song,
02:48y'all should have had a better producer,
02:49no matter how many hits you have written,
02:52you're only as good as your last song.
03:09Music is my life,
03:11I want to be the best out of everybody,
03:13you know, I'm like Michael Jordan,
03:14like, I want the championship,
03:16so this is a huge opportunity.
03:17I don't do ego,
03:23so if I feel an ego in a room,
03:25I will exit the room in two seconds,
03:27like I never was here.
03:28Raise the tempo, raise the temper,
03:30raise the temper, raise the temper,
03:32raise the temper.
03:34I may use lyrics that are racy,
03:36but I'm a romantic at heart.
03:38I have no problem settling down,
03:40I just don't want to settle.
03:42My boyfriend and I met writing butter for BTS,
03:49who knew that it would be the biggest song of our careers?
03:51And we're going to write a bigger one.
03:53Hell yeah, we are.
03:55You won't fit me again,
03:56but we'll let it fly.
04:00Out of all these people,
04:01I've been doing this the longest.
04:02I got the most hits.
04:04Some people think this is competitive,
04:06but for me,
04:07it's no competition.
04:11I'm the only person here
04:13that hasn't written a number one hit,
04:15and even though I've been Grammy nominated,
04:18I'm still driving for Uber.
04:22We are the dynamic duo, Noble Wave.
04:25We've been working together
04:26for about 15 plus years now.
04:28Just ask Beyonce,
04:29we make hits.
04:30If you know, you know.
04:34I've had great success in country music,
04:36but honestly,
04:37this camp has put me a little out of my element.
04:40I'm open to new challenges,
04:41and I'm confident that I can hang with anybody.
04:43Enjoy your time in the Bahamas, man.
04:45Yes, sir.
04:46Oh, this must be the house right here.
05:01Dang.
05:03We're here in the Bahamas,
05:04and this is our first writing camp.
05:05This camp, we're writing for John Legend.
05:08You know, he's an icon.
05:13He's one of our few living musical legends
05:16when it comes to musicians
05:17who play, sing, write songs.
05:19And if we can get John
05:21to record one of these songs,
05:22put it on an album,
05:23make it a single,
05:24and it becomes a smash,
05:26that's going to be huge
05:27for all the songwriters here.
05:30No way.
05:31Look at this.
05:34Yeah, I can write a couple songs here.
05:36When we're in a writing camp,
05:38we pretty much always stay on one roof
05:39because it just,
05:41it allows a different type of camaraderie.
05:43I have no idea what to expect,
05:45but everybody is here for a reason.
05:47And first impressions are a big thing,
05:49so I just want to come in prepared
05:51and professional
05:51and do my job and do it well.
05:54Are you in that big bed
05:55right by the pool?
05:55Probably.
05:56Oh, boy.
05:57It's like summer camp
05:58going to these writing camps,
05:59except for I never had any drinks
06:01at summer camp,
06:02and there's a lot of drinks.
06:04Yeah!
06:05Let's go!
06:06I co-wrote the Iggy Azalea song,
06:11I Am The Strip Club.
06:12There's no existential meaning to it.
06:14I Am The Strip Club is like,
06:16my man doesn't need to go out at night
06:18because I ride the pool.
06:19I am the lap dance.
06:21My mom's going to watch this.
06:22I don't even think my mom's heard
06:24I Am The Strip Club.
06:25She will now,
06:26and that sucks for me,
06:27but what a mom thinks is a hit
06:29and what I think is a hit
06:30may be different things.
06:35Let me get it.
06:36You want ice?
06:38Let me get some ice
06:39because it's hot outside.
06:40I think the greatest pop album
06:46of all time.
06:47Oh, shit.
06:48Here we go.
06:49Katy Perry.
06:50Katy Perry.
06:51Yeah, I was about to say,
06:52I don't know what you were
06:53going to say.
06:53Y'all said it at the same time.
06:55It's what?
06:55Teenage Dream?
06:56Yeah.
06:57The one that smelled like cotton candy
06:58when you opened it.
07:00Also, that album defined pop
07:02in that era.
07:03It did.
07:04That's true.
07:05It's so true.
07:06I feel like that Katy Perry album
07:08is up there with thrillers.
07:10I don't know about that.
07:14I'm so hungry.
07:16Yes, me too.
07:17Oh, wow.
07:21Oh, I see them tails.
07:23Lobster tails.
07:24I am allergic to lobster.
07:27That's really dope.
07:29Come on, man.
07:29You making me feel bad.
07:30You got an itty-bitty plate, man.
07:32What?
07:33No, I got the sampler plate
07:34because I'm going back
07:36for another wrap.
07:36Okay, I'm with you.
07:38I'm with John.
07:38I'm like, hold on, man.
07:39I do have a motivating story
07:41where I make vision boards
07:43every year.
07:43So my 2021 vision board,
07:46I have a picture of Beyonce
07:47holding a Grammy on her shoulder.
07:50So it's in my prayer closet.
07:52I do the whole thing.
07:53I'm doing it.
07:53I'm doing it.
07:54We're coming off
07:55the Renaissance album
07:56and we were able to contribute
07:57a lot to that.
07:58And I'm like, oh, it's 2023
08:00and I got a Grammy
08:01with her name on it
08:02and my name.
08:04I'm sitting at this table
08:05and I'm looking around
08:06and like everyone
08:08except for me
08:10has had a number one hit.
08:14So yeah, odd man out.
08:16Can we submit our own boards
08:18in your prayer hall?
08:18Yes, I will definitely take the board.
08:20Can you pray for us
08:21in that closet?
08:21Yes.
08:22Tomorrow, John Legend.
08:25I feel like he's open to ideas.
08:27I really want to tap
08:28into my roots a lot.
08:30Growing up in the church,
08:31my family
08:32and some of the struggles
08:35we had when I was a kid
08:36that I want to like
08:37make new music
08:38that reflects my artistry
08:41and the power of the storytelling
08:43so that it feels
08:44really authentic coming for me.
08:46Amazing.
08:47I can't wait to hear
08:48what y'all create.
08:49I can't wait to hear it.
08:51Who's worked with him before?
08:52I've worked with him, right?
08:54Raise your hand
08:54if you've worked with him.
08:55Okay.
08:56There we go.
08:57How was that?
08:58Amazing.
08:59Yeah?
08:59Incredible.
08:59Yeah.
09:00I've never worked with
09:01or for John Legend
09:02but obviously he's
09:04one of the greatest
09:04of all time in our industry
09:05so, you know,
09:06he's an EGOT winner
09:07and I myself
09:08am only an EGOT away
09:10from having an EGOT
09:11so it would mean a lot
09:12if we could have
09:13something together
09:13especially a hit.
09:15I like to call him
09:16like the king of love.
09:17It's been really difficult
09:18to find financial success
09:20just by solely songwriting.
09:22I do pull up
09:23to the table and eat
09:24but I'm just eating
09:25McDonald's
09:26value in you.
09:27I do feel like
09:28we have the potential
09:28for some like
09:29pretty unorthodox pairings
09:31too.
09:32Yes, yes, yes.
09:33Each day
09:34producers and writers
09:35will be split
09:35into different rooms
09:36to write songs.
09:37It's about finding
09:38the best combination
09:39to create the best songs.
09:40What about you guys?
09:41You had a couple.
09:43Uh, one.
09:44Do you all
09:44only write together?
09:45When I met him
09:46we met on Zoom
09:47and it was like
09:47instant.
09:48Met on Zoom?
09:49We were working on
09:50a song.
09:51We were working on Butter.
09:52Oh, sick.
09:53Amazing.
09:54We didn't even know
09:54we were going to write
09:55a song called Butter.
09:56We knew that
09:56the idea that
09:58they were looking for
09:58is smooth criminal.
09:59That was sort of
10:00the brief.
10:00And we were just
10:01messing with ideas
10:02and it was just like
10:03smooth like butter.
10:04We won an award
10:05at basically every award show
10:06in the history of award shows
10:07except for the Grammys.
10:08Money doesn't solve
10:09your problems
10:09but Grammys do.
10:11Grammys solve problems.
10:13Are you married?
10:13No.
10:14I'm dating like
10:16two people.
10:18Oh, you're doing that thing?
10:19Well, I'm getting to know
10:20like, getting to know
10:22some people.
10:22I'm not saying
10:23you have to sleep
10:23with everybody
10:24but you do,
10:25I think you owe it
10:26to yourself
10:26to like
10:27kind of get to know
10:28a couple of different lives
10:29so, you know.
10:31So a little disclaimer
10:32that I do give the men
10:33that I date.
10:34At some point
10:35I'm going to write
10:35a song about you,
10:36okay?
10:37But here's the beautiful part.
10:38You get to determine
10:39what that song is about.
10:41So if you bring me
10:41love and butterflies
10:42I'm going to write
10:43the most beautiful song
10:45about you
10:45but if you do
10:46some fucked up ass shit
10:47I'm just going to
10:49write a fuck you record.
10:50Change doesn't scare me
10:52but settling does.
10:54And it takes a long time
10:55to get to know somebody.
10:56It takes time.
10:57It takes like two years
10:58to really get to know somebody.
10:59You know what I mean.
11:00And given what we do
11:02like,
11:03because like it's hard.
11:03Is it better
11:04because your wife's
11:05in the industry as well?
11:05That's the only way
11:06I would be married
11:07right now in my life.
11:08I'm not dating
11:09until I get married.
11:10There you go.
11:11Tommy!
11:12You got a date
11:12to get married though.
11:14It all depends
11:15on what country you in.
11:16I'm waiting for somebody
11:17to arrange some.
11:20Me and Tommy
11:21has never like
11:22worked together.
11:24Like he's always
11:24been somebody
11:25that I admired
11:26and like watched
11:27his career
11:27and I think
11:28he would say
11:28the same thing
11:29and it's a mutual respect.
11:31The only difference
11:31between, you know,
11:32me and Tommy
11:33is like
11:33I'm happily married
11:34and he's still single.
11:36So he's still
11:36living the playboy life.
11:38Yeah, I just
11:39don't want to air
11:39him out like that.
11:42But
11:42I'm excited
11:44for tomorrow.
11:45We're going to go crazy.
11:46Yeah.
11:46Let's go.
11:47All right.
11:48Hitmakers on three.
11:51Let's go.
11:52Let's go.
11:52Hitmakers on three.
11:57Jameson on three.
12:03I'm so ready.
12:08This is going to be fun.
12:09Do we know
12:09what car is here?
12:10Yeah, you get
12:11the first one.
12:12In the back.
12:13Uh-oh.
12:14Do we trust her?
12:15We trust,
12:16we trust her.
12:17Woo.
12:17Y'all ready?
12:19Take off,
12:20take off.
12:21Vroom, vroom,
12:22I'ma race off.
12:23Yo, look at this.
12:24This is great.
12:26Take off,
12:27take off.
12:27Sanctuary
12:28is a state-of-the-art
12:29recording studio
12:30and every A-list artist
12:32has gone there
12:32from Drake,
12:34Justin Timberlake,
12:35Mariah Carey,
12:36Alicia Keys
12:36and I've been there
12:37a few times
12:38with Justin Bieber.
12:38Take off,
12:39take off.
12:40Three, two, one, go.
12:44Uh-huh, yeah, uh-huh,
12:45take off.
12:46Here we go.
12:48Uh-huh, yeah, uh-huh, yeah.
12:50Take off.
12:52Yeah, this will be fun.
12:54All right.
12:54Hello.
12:55Let's go.
12:57Today,
12:58I'm writing with Jenna
12:58and Nova Wave.
12:59We got six hours
13:01to write a hit song
13:02for John Legend.
13:04I don't think I'm nervous.
13:05I think I'm,
13:06I think I'm just ready.
13:08I'm ready to go.
13:08I'm ready to write.
13:09We're all in here.
13:11Five.
13:12All right.
13:13Let's fucking go.
13:14I'm getting paired
13:15with Tommy and Seven.
13:16I'm pretty nervous.
13:18You know,
13:18I'm a fan of Tommy's.
13:20I mean,
13:20he produced
13:21Seven Rings
13:21by Ariana Grande
13:22and I really want to show them
13:23that I can hold my own
13:24in R&B.
13:25I want him to know,
13:26you know,
13:27who I am afterwards
13:27but also respect me
13:29as a writer.
13:31Hey.
13:32This setup is crazy.
13:34Oh, this setup is wild.
13:36Did we get the best room?
13:37I think we did.
13:38I'm in a room
13:39with Trey and Whitney
13:40for the first writing day.
13:41So we all have limited time
13:43to write a song
13:43and at the end of the day
13:45we have to play the song
13:46that we wrote
13:47for each other
13:48at the listening party.
13:49You know,
13:49listening parties
13:50can be stressful
13:51because there's nothing worse
13:53than hitting play
13:54on a wax song
13:55in front of your peers.
13:56Hey.
13:56I'm Rich.
13:57Hi, Rich.
13:57I'm going to be helping you
13:58in this room a bit.
13:59Rich, I'm a hugger.
14:00Nice to meet you.
14:01Rich,
14:01so I'm going to ask you
14:02a very unorthodox question,
14:04right?
14:04Yeah, go ahead.
14:05That I'm pretty sure
14:06a lot of creators ask
14:07when they come into this room.
14:09Do you know
14:10where I can get some weed?
14:11Have you worked out here before?
14:13Yeah, I have.
14:14I have.
14:14With Justin Bieber.
14:15We come here all the time.
14:16Okay, so it's got
14:17some good energy
14:18in the room already.
14:18Yeah, stay for weeks,
14:20jam out, write songs.
14:22I'm so excited
14:23for this first session.
14:24Me and Whitney go way back
14:25and Harv is such
14:27an insane producer as well.
14:29So I know we are, like,
14:31set up for success.
14:32We're going to write
14:33the number one hit today.
14:34I have this idea.
14:38It's the tempo.
14:40Okay.
14:40When you go to a camp,
14:41we can be all friends,
14:43but when we go in them rooms,
14:44we're competing with
14:46A and B and C.
14:47We're all competing
14:48to have that record.
14:50Like, I want to win.
14:56Zach, Greg.
14:58Okay, so I,
14:59sometimes I get, like,
15:00haunted by words.
15:01Simple, but
15:02I heard strawberry.
15:03Strawberry?
15:04Strawberry.
15:04It was on my brain
15:05this morning,
15:06and I was, like,
15:07like, her aftertaste
15:09is, like, strawberry
15:09or sweet like strawberry
15:11or something.
15:11Just, like, something summer
15:12and fresh and, like, sexy.
15:14The only issue
15:15I hate saying this
15:17is, um,
15:18he has a song called
15:19Strawberry Blush
15:20in the last album.
15:21On his project?
15:22Yeah.
15:22Well, then,
15:23no.
15:23Yeah.
15:24What if it's, like,
15:26not strawberry,
15:28but some other
15:28type of fruit?
15:30Cherries.
15:32Mm-hmm.
15:33Cherries and strawberries.
15:34You know,
15:34what's it a metaphor
15:35for other than?
15:38It'd be cool to do,
15:39like, an Adele
15:40up-tempo song.
15:41Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah,
15:42yeah, yeah, yeah.
15:48Oh, that's cool.
15:50That's cool.
15:51That's cool.
15:51Like with those
15:52little moves.
16:03I've never worked
16:04with Seven or Tommy.
16:06Um, I know
16:07who both of them are
16:08just through their work
16:10and having written
16:10global worldwide smashes,
16:12but I don't have
16:13any expectation
16:14that they know
16:14who I am.
16:15I have no idea
16:16who Ben is.
16:18What are all the ways
16:19that you can rescue
16:20somebody?
16:21Like,
16:21I can save you
16:22from heartbreak,
16:23save you from tears.
16:24I'm always trying
16:26to push
16:26and put a little bit
16:28of dirt on top of it,
16:30give it a little bit
16:30of vibe,
16:31even if it is just
16:32in a tone
16:32or the way
16:33that we deliver
16:34a lyric,
16:35so that when he hears it,
16:36he's like,
16:37hmm, I wouldn't have
16:37normally said that
16:38like that.
16:39Let me try it.
16:42A sexy song
16:43might be the vibes.
16:44It could be something
16:45like take it all
16:46off in the sense
16:47of like free yourself.
16:48Be vulnerable
16:49around me.
16:49Okay.
16:50But still make it sexy.
16:52Yeah.
16:53Because that piano
16:54thing that you had
16:55from the other day
16:55was really cool,
16:56but I don't know
16:56if that works.
16:57Well, I'm thinking like...
16:58You can play it though
16:59and we can sing.
17:00Yeah.
17:01I'm personally used
17:02to driving sessions.
17:03I'm personally usually
17:04the one that walks in
17:06and I'm like setting
17:07the tempo number one,
17:09but I'm always trying
17:10to figure out
17:11what kind of value
17:12can you give me
17:13and so that I can
17:14multiply that
17:15whenever, you know...
17:16Yeah, when we get set up.
17:17I'm a producer
17:18and it's usually
17:21been my show.
17:22So when I walk in,
17:23I'm trying to show
17:24Nova Wave.
17:25I'm on it.
17:26You know what I'm saying?
17:29Like the first time
17:39that she first saw me.
17:41So it's like
17:42the first time
17:43every single time.
17:45We're re-popping.
17:49It might look like
17:50we're texting,
17:51but like I have
17:52a list of titles,
17:53lyrics and concepts,
17:54all my precious thoughts.
17:56This is everything.
17:57I mean,
17:57this is my whole life.
17:59It's my whole world.
18:00It's right here, babe.
18:01So I can't lose my bump.
18:03I just realized
18:04he wrote Peaches
18:05and now we're writing Cherry.
18:07I hope that's okay.
18:09No, I love that.
18:10Come on.
18:10We're getting all the fruits,
18:11okay?
18:11Fruit of the loom.
18:12We saw what Peaches did,
18:14so...
18:14I'm kidding.
18:15Let's just do that.
18:16Yeah.
18:17Yeah.
18:17A little dirt on it.
18:24Yes.
18:24Oh, oh.
18:25Yeah.
18:27And then we like,
18:28listen.
18:29Pick you up.
18:30Oh, that's cool.
18:31Let you down.
18:32That's cool.
18:33Kiss your body.
18:34Make a smile.
18:35Oh, and then...
18:37Woo!
18:38Come on, now.
18:39When I turn and I,
18:40maybe I come through
18:41and rescue you.
18:42Woo!
18:43Okay, whoa, whoa, whoa.
18:44Okay.
18:44What if you call it
18:45Rescue?
18:47Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh.
18:48And it's like...
18:48Oh, I will rescue you.
18:50Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
18:51When the bim-bim do,
18:52baby I'll come through
18:54till I'm next to you.
18:55Yeah.
18:56Yeah.
18:57That's a bad country boy
18:59right there.
18:59And we all left
19:00our egos outside.
19:01So, only great things
19:04can happen from there.
19:05Um, do we know
19:06where the engineer is?
19:10What is happening?
19:14It is not reading
19:15this keyboard.
19:18Doesn't that make any sense?
19:20It's not reading it.
19:22It's not seeing it.
19:23It's so weird.
19:24What the fuck is going on
19:26right now of all times?
19:27Like, technical issues galore.
19:29I mean, we are...
19:30We're down bad.
19:31I'm so confused
19:32about what's happening right now.
19:33Yeah, it's like
19:33I'm not even seeing it now.
19:35I'm a bit frustrated
19:36because I just feel
19:38that the caliber
19:39that we're at now
19:40as creators,
19:41we should be able
19:41to work through anything,
19:43so let's figure it out.
19:46I love it.
19:48I want to see
19:49the way you look
19:51when you're looking at me.
19:53That's so simple.
19:55Are you down to cut it?
19:56Or who should cut it?
19:57I feel like my voice
19:57is too breathy.
19:58I'll cut it.
19:58It's fine.
19:59You're cool?
19:59Yeah.
20:00So Blue's going to cut the song,
20:01which means that
20:02she's going to sing the demo
20:03to play to John Legend.
20:04And hopefully,
20:05while she's doing this,
20:06Steven can work out
20:07the whole technical thing.
20:08I think I got to get some hints here.
20:10God.
20:12Things are not going well at all.
20:13I can't get anything to work.
20:16Or fucked.
20:16There's bad energy in there.
20:27Yeah.
20:28Oh.
20:29Golly.
20:30It's going to be this hard.
20:31I mean, it's crazy.
20:34Almost ready, guys.
20:35So what's going on with you?
20:37I hear you're...
20:38Oh, no.
20:39...recently betrothed.
20:40The trove.
20:42The trove.
20:43I could.
20:45He's a sweet boy.
20:46I'm going to do a couple.
20:46I don't think I've been
20:47treated this well in a while.
20:50And, like, willing to be
20:53treated this well in a while.
20:55We're making it work.
20:56I mean, it's long distance.
20:57He's in North Carolina,
20:58but it's an hour away,
21:00so it's not bad.
21:01Yeah, for sure.
21:02But it's cute right now.
21:03It's like, you know,
21:04the first six months, so...
21:06I know.
21:06It's cute and sweet.
21:08It's cherry sweet.
21:08Yeah.
21:10You deserve that, though.
21:12Truly.
21:12Thank you, babe.
21:13I'm a diehard romantic.
21:15I'm a very passionate person,
21:16and for me to even be
21:18in a relationship,
21:19I usually have
21:20my whole heart in it.
21:21So, 100%.
21:23The freshness
21:24and excitement
21:25of my new relationship
21:26is kind of being infused
21:27a little bit
21:28in some of the lyrics
21:29that we're writing.
21:30I will say,
21:30Jenna did drop my computer
21:31in the airport.
21:33You did drop my computer
21:34in the airport.
21:34What does that mean?
21:35I'm just saying,
21:36you did drop it.
21:40Is this really my fault?
21:41Oh, yeah.
21:42It could be your fault,
21:43I'm not gonna lie.
21:43I was like,
21:44babe, hold this for one second
21:45while I get this checked in.
21:46Not even a second.
21:47It happens.
21:48It happens.
21:48I technically haven't used it
21:49since then.
21:50I was using it the day before.
21:51Okay, but, like,
21:53let's just hope.
21:56I will rescue you.
21:59I'm the best with you.
22:00Yeah, we're the best.
22:01Yeah, we need one more
22:02right there.
22:03That's perfect.
22:04I want somebody
22:04to say that.
22:05Like, you feel me?
22:06Like, I'm at best with you.
22:08Like...
22:09Oh, my God.
22:11I'm not supposed to make music
22:12in here.
22:13I can't even make music.
22:14We should just test it
22:16when we get back
22:16to the place
22:17or something.
22:17We have more time
22:18to, like, figure out
22:18if it's actually...
22:19No, I've got to get it
22:20working in there.
22:21It has to be working.
22:21It has to start working in there.
22:23Like, if it doesn't work
22:24then, I mean,
22:25what are we going to do?
22:39Steven, you got, like,
22:40three, four, five,
22:41six seconds
22:42to get your computer working
22:43because if not,
22:45we got to scooch you
22:46out of the driver's seat.
22:57She's saying you twice
22:59is a little funky.
23:00So, say yee.
23:01Yee never got it.
23:02Yee never got it.
23:03Yeah.
23:04Yee, put that sauce on it.
23:06That's me, too.
23:07You feel me?
23:07Like, I can't do anything.
23:12I'm nervous
23:13because I'm like, you know...
23:14We ain't got no song.
23:16Yeah, we don't.
23:16At this point,
23:17we don't have a song.
23:18So, if we don't have a song
23:19at the listening party,
23:20like, we bummed out.
23:21I mean, we are no way.
23:22Like, we can't walk in
23:23and not have a record done.
23:26Biggest Ben.
23:27The Biggest Ben.
23:28That should be
23:29your production name.
23:30The Biggest Ben's pretty good.
23:32Terry's so sweet
23:33dripping on me
23:35She gives me...
23:36What am I doing?
23:37One more time.
23:38She's what I need
23:39She's what I need
23:40Oh, that's wrong.
23:44She's what I need
23:46Oh, that can't get that coming right
23:48Okay, one more time.
23:50When you're in the room
23:51with someone like Harv
23:52who is so incredibly impressive
23:54at everything,
23:56I'm coming into this being like,
23:58oh, I gotta show the fuck out.
24:00Can you do it faster?
24:01Like, uh...
24:02Okay.
24:04Let's keep it straight.
24:05Let's keep it straight.
24:06And then instead of
24:07she give me that,
24:08she give me that.
24:09Is that not what I'm saying?
24:10You always want to go
24:11with the vocalist
24:11that's going to sell the record
24:13and, um, appeal to John the most.
24:16And I can tell that
24:18Trey feels a little unsettled,
24:21but pressure is the name of the game.
24:23She gives me that, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um.
24:28When there's tears in your eyes
24:29and your belly getting by,
24:30I'm gonna mess with you.
24:32Oh, my God, I feel like
24:33I'm in my gospel choir
24:34with all my cousins
24:34when I was, like, 14 years old.
24:37Wow.
24:38There we go.
24:39It is working.
24:39Thank you, bro.
24:41Thank you, God.
24:42We're going somewhere.
24:53Sometimes I just want to say
24:55I love you,
24:56but there's something
24:57about what you say.
24:59That sounded sick.
25:01The only problem,
25:01I don't love the end.
25:02Yeah.
25:03Yeah, we got to find
25:04a better resolve.
25:05I just didn't know
25:06what it should be.
25:07Does it need to be more words?
25:08More words.
25:10Lucky heaven, heaven.
25:11Or you can say
25:12you're my heaven
25:1311-11.
25:15Oh!
25:1611-11.
25:18That's dope.
25:1911-11 is fire.
25:20I knew my man would come through.
25:22Do not underestimate
25:23the power of Steven.
25:2511-11,
25:27my heaven, no.
25:30Oh.
25:31Oh, does it need to do something
25:32like that?
25:32No, no.
25:33Wait.
25:34No.
25:40We only got 10 minutes.
25:50I love it.
25:52Let me see if I can beat this.
25:53One clap, though.
25:54I'm feeling great.
25:55I mean, I feel confident
25:57in what we did.
25:57I feel like we all love it.
26:02Two more lines.
26:03Yeah.
26:04All right.
26:04We're making money today.
26:06You have to go in
26:07knowing that you,
26:09in this moment,
26:10are the greatest in the world
26:11and you do what you do.
26:12And will you win every time?
26:14No.
26:14But you should believe
26:15that you can win every time.
26:18All right.
26:19Time's up.
26:20Let's go.
26:20We got it.
26:22I think it's going to be good.
26:24I think we've nailed, like,
26:25this cool gospel sound,
26:27which is everything
26:28John Legend asked for.
26:30But at the same time,
26:31I know that every single
26:32one of these rooms
26:33has people who have
26:34the ability to write a song
26:35just as good,
26:36if not better.
26:37This is a vibe.
26:46Hey.
26:47This is a vibe.
26:48I think I want to sit here.
26:49I'm going to sit on the floor.
26:50Yo, he always be sitting on the floor.
26:52I do this.
26:53Cheers.
26:55Damn.
26:56Let me get some of that.
26:57Let me get some of that.
26:58Let me get some of that.
26:59Clown.
27:00Clank.
27:00Yes, ma'am.
27:03Yes, I'll play a straight phone.
27:04That ass I want to clap.
27:06Oh, I like this.
27:12Energy!
27:12Energy!
27:14I put the worst
27:15on a picker tries
27:16Like what I see,
27:18I'll remember why
27:19She's got a new way
27:21of stopping time
27:23When seasons change,
27:24I'm still on the line
27:26She's dangerous
27:28When she's on the tongue
27:31When I taste the love
27:35She knows I can't get enough
27:37That didn't go back
27:38Can't do that
27:38Can't do that
27:39What?
27:41She let me down
27:42In the summer heat
27:43Every night
27:45She's what I need
27:47She gave me the first time
27:49In a dream
27:50I drink a snack
27:52Like a fine wine
27:53She gets better
27:55When I'm in the summer
27:56At the mid-night
27:56Can we start
27:57Sweet
27:58Woo!
27:59Can we start
28:00Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet
28:02Sweet
28:02It was like evolved
28:04Yeah, yeah, yeah
28:05Still
28:05Still him
28:06Quintessential John
28:07Yep, yep
28:08That's crazy!
28:13Yo, it's so good
28:15Oh, good job, y'all
28:17Good job, good job
28:18I love that
28:19That bridge, though
28:21I love how you had that one harmony only
28:22Like it was just that one harmony
28:23Sweet
28:24And I just like that bridge got me
28:28I was like, oh my gosh
28:29My goosebumps
28:30Right
28:30It just felt good to write it
28:33I think that's a good sign
28:35If you feel good about it
28:36Like it's probably going to be received well
28:39Cherry so sweet
28:41So good
28:42I think Cherry, for me, is too conceptual
28:46I love songs that are conversational
28:49And I don't think I would go and talk to somebody I'm trying to date
28:54And say, Cherry's so sweet
28:57I think John Legend could pull it off
29:00But I think John Legend would also change lyrics
29:03Another way, Steven, and Jenna, y'all are good
29:06I gotta hook up to the art
29:08Yeah, that's so good
29:09Yeah
29:09All right, here we go
29:12All right, here we go
29:14Okay
29:16Take my hand
29:19Don't let go
29:23Come on
29:25I'm looking for your answers
29:28Yeah
29:29That I don't know
29:32Sometimes I just wanna say
29:37I love you, but there's something about when you say
29:41Ooh, but when you say
29:42I like that better, but when you say
29:44Somehow you just find a way
29:46To find a way
29:47To break me out of my way
29:49Ooh
29:50Yeah
29:50Turn on the light
29:51Turn on the light
29:53I wanna see
29:55The way you look
29:57When you're looking at me
29:59You're the space between my heaven and earth
30:04The only thing I know for sure
30:08And you don't even know what your work
30:12Look at seven
30:13Eleven, eleven, eleven
30:15My heaven on earth
30:17Y'all
30:19Because it's like basically telling her
30:20Like, even like when you don't feel worthy
30:22You're my heaven and earth
30:23Even like when you don't feel strong
30:25You're still my strength
30:26Like
30:26Oh
30:26I love that
30:27So pretty
30:28Insane
30:29Eleven, eleven
30:32My heaven on earth
30:34Hey
30:35Obsessed
30:36Good job
30:37Obsessed
30:39I mean, listen
30:40We struggled all day long
30:41Because we were fighting the devil
30:43Come on
30:44I will say though
30:45To be in a session where like
30:46Like a hundred things go wrong
30:48And like crazy things
30:48Like being with you two
30:50And like getting to just
30:51Like work
30:52I work with you all the time
30:52So I basically
30:53I basically can barely stand you
30:55But being in there
30:56Like if this was just me and her
30:58I would have burned the whole studio down
30:59But being with y'all
31:00And just like
31:01While we're figuring things out
31:02Just talking through things
31:03It was a blessing for me
31:04So
31:04This computer's like
31:06They got a mind of their own
31:06But you know
31:07We made it happen
31:09It was a blessing for sure
31:10The trick was the struggle story
31:12Y'all set me up
31:13I know y'all set me up
31:14I don't know what we were
31:15I see y'all scheming
31:16Last but not least
31:18We've got Tommy, Seven, and Beth
31:20The biggest biz
31:22The biggest biz
31:23That's the new name
31:23As of today
31:25The biggest biz
31:27We'll give you a little bit of a vibe
31:30Yes, come on, vibe
31:31Biggest biz, you might as well
31:32Come up here
31:33All right
31:33We're here
31:34We're here
31:35We're here
31:35We're here
31:35Team Mapper
31:36Y'all had no business
31:40Coming in hard like this
31:41When you waste your love
31:43On a broken heart
31:44When you feel so close
31:48But you're far apart
31:49Hey
31:50When you're all alone
31:53And you don't feel safe
31:54When there's nowhere out
31:58And you can't be safe
32:00Just call my name
32:01I will rescue you
32:03When there ain't no way
32:06And you lost your faith
32:07I will rescue you
32:09When there's tears in your eyes
32:11And you better get by
32:12I'ma mess with you
32:13Spend my last
32:15Three, four
32:15And then wait
32:17I like that
32:17Second time
32:18I will rescue you
32:21I'll tell you so much
32:23That I can't get back
32:25Life looks different
32:28Baby, you did that
32:30Oh, to you
32:33All the good I got
32:35That's what we need
32:37That's what we need
32:37The verse is to be like
32:38A little more depth
32:40And the chorus is just
32:41Digestible
32:42I will rescue you
32:44When there ain't no way
32:46And you lost your faith
32:47I will rescue you
32:49When there's tears in your eyes
32:51And you better get by
32:52I'ma mess with you
32:54Spend my last breath with you
32:56You ain't never gotta ask me to
32:59I will rescue you
33:01You
33:03Hey!
33:05You
33:06You
33:08I will rescue you
33:12You
33:13I will rescue you
33:22Hey!
33:23Woo-hoo!
33:25Let me say this
33:26Let me down
33:29Hey, I loved it
33:30That was amazing
33:31No, thank you
33:31We had the best time
33:32Incredible, incredible
33:34I will say like
33:35I've never worked with Tommy before
33:36But like
33:37Obviously
33:37Such a big producer
33:38But I was like
33:39So impressed with your writing
33:40Like
33:40Spend my last breath with you
33:42It was like
33:42That was his line
33:43Yeah, because
33:44Tommy doesn't want y'all to know
33:45You're just a romantic
33:46In the world
33:47You used to know
33:48I write everything that I'm not
33:50No
33:51Stop lying
33:52I write everything that I'm not
33:53I don't know if I play that
33:55Hit my
33:56Hit my
33:57Make it, let's go
33:58Let's go
33:59Good job, everybody
34:04This is probably the most competitive industry in the world
34:07It's so hard to maintain relevancy
34:10No matter how much success you've had
34:12Then the challenge is
34:14Oh my God
34:14How do I live up to this now
34:16People are constantly trying to climb the ladder
34:20I'm not going to let anybody beat me
34:23If you're not feeling the pressure
34:25You're not doing it right
34:26I feel really good about today
34:28But as this camp goes on
34:30We have to get better and better every day
34:32We got to keep pushing that bar
34:33I hope John picks one of these
34:35But good is not good enough
34:37You know, you're always trying to prove yourself as a writer
34:46All of us want to be great
34:47That's your why as well, hon
34:48Like, why do we do this?
34:49Part of who I am
34:49Dude, these are flipping burgers
34:51You wanna stay where this will go
34:53You wanna stay where this will go
34:57I love you too
34:58Last night, I ended my relationship with my boyfriend
35:01What?
35:02The hardest thing is breaking up with someone
35:04When there's still love there
35:05It is a process
35:06Like, you have to accept it
35:07I shouldn't even be here
35:08I know you're going through stuff
35:09But don't let them know you're sweating
35:11I'm gonna put all of this and other stuff
35:12Into the music
35:13I promise
35:14You wanna stay where this will go
35:16Hello
35:17What lengths would you go
35:18To get a number one hand?
35:20I would love to cut it
35:20I'm excited
35:21Is this the best combo for this camp?
35:23I feel like J-Hard's about to ruin the vibe for everybody
35:25It's called Can't Relate
35:29You don't remember that was our idea?
35:32Was it?
35:33The good thing is we got cameras running the whole time
35:34We can just go back and walk to it
35:36My integrity being brought into question
35:38Especially in front of, like, my collaborators
35:40It put you in a bad spot
35:42It did
35:42And it put me in a bad spot
35:43Kind of worried about me and Seven
35:44It's been a good connection
35:46Stop
35:46She's a people pleaser
35:47Yes
35:48What about Taras?
35:49Taras?
35:49Who is Taras?
35:50My brain actually feels like
35:53It's absolutely being injected
35:55With, like, cyanide right now
35:57What does that mean?
36:00Yes
36:01I came into this camp thinking that I didn't like it
36:03I'm just so uncomfortable
36:04I'm like, yeah
36:05It's good discomfort
36:07What about Jenna and Steven?
36:09Are they dating?
36:09Because I can't tell by how he acts
36:11But I do think that, like
36:12Okay, next time
36:13Oh my God
36:15Am I that boring?
36:16I would have did that
36:17My wife would have been like, yikes
36:19He's not going to be able to walk back to that relationship
36:21You can't talk to your girl like that
36:22No, no
36:22I don't give a fuck
36:23What nobody thinks separate her
36:25I just want to know woman's a woman
36:27You're cool, right?
36:31Bang!
36:32I just want the best song possible
36:33God, help me figure out if I want my boyfriend back
36:37Sometimes great songs come out of those days
36:39I love it
36:39I feel like I do want my boyfriend back
36:42I'm rich
36:42I'm successful
36:43I have 500 hits
36:44I'm the fuck out of here
36:46Life is just crazy
36:48Within two seconds, everything can change
36:50And it changes just like the waves
36:52What should I write about this?
36:56You wanna say
36:58You wanna look me in the eye
37:14Try to touch me in the eye
37:16Yeah, I don't know
37:18You wanna say where this will go
37:48What should I Jorge it like
