Jeremy Corbyn has promised “a new kind of political party” as he launched a new outfit with Zarah Sultana. At the moment there is no agreement on the party’s name, but Mr Corbyn denied that the launch had been “messy”. Mr Corbyn led the Labour Party from 2015 to 2020 before being suspended following a row over a report into antisemitism in the party. Report by Gluszczykm. 00:00It's not messy at all. It's a totally coherent approach.
00:03It's democratic, it's grassroots, and it's open.
00:07And Zahra and I have sent out this statement today,
00:09which has had a massive pickup already.
00:12The Independent Alliance of MPs have sent out a broadly similar,
00:16identical statement in support of it as well.
00:19And we will then develop from there.
00:23But the broad political principles are there,
00:26and that's the important thing, important message to get across.
00:28Listen, people have had enough out there.
00:30They're fed up with seeing cuts to their services,
00:34threats to personal independence payments,
00:36continuing child poverty,
00:38WASPy women shortchanged by the government,
00:41and the only thing they can find money for is more weapons of war.
00:45Well, it's going to be a very different structure.
00:47The Labour Party is a very top-down, highly centralised party
00:51that is full of control freaks
00:55who want to control whatever goes on within the party.
