00:00Good afternoon, my name is Phil Hewitt, Group Arts Editor at Six Newspapers. Now he's wearing
00:06the t-shirt. Of course he is Danny Bacon, mastermind of the Lockswood Jamst. And it
00:11really is quite something that's coming up this August over three weekends, extended from two
00:16to three for last year, three again this year. And you're saying it's a festival that just
00:21doesn't sit on its laurels. You feel that you always have to be developing, improving,
00:27moving forward with the whole thing, don't you? Absolutely, absolutely. I think the key,
00:31the key thing for us is to keep constantly developing, evolving it. It's sort of build,
00:36turning into its own world in this sort of kingdom of Lockswood, referred to it as where
00:42the sky's the limit of what we can, how, where it can go. And each year the beautiful thing is,
00:47is we create different storylines each year as well, which allows us to then develop something
00:53each year and to then the continuation of the storyline to really make it something
00:58different and grow every time as well. And the lovely thing is that really it's up to the
01:02businesses to make it what they want. You can come and enjoy in a sort of slightly standing back,
01:08watch, move on, that was good type way. Or will you explain, you can become absolutely
01:13deeply part of this world that you create, can't you? Absolutely. So you can, like you said,
01:19you can literally come in your jeans and t-shirts, come and have a drink, watch some jousting,
01:23watch bands, watch fulconry, go and see some knights fighting, have a lovely time and then just
01:29go home. Or you can literally come and walk into the kingdom in a character, an archetype from the
01:34Lockswood Kingdom of Lockswood, get involved with all the actors and people involved in that world
01:41and go on quests, solve murder mysteries, help the characters live their life and really play it out,
01:46as well as watching all of the wonderful things that happen here as well.
01:51And the scale of it all is phenomenal, you're saying probably a couple of hundred people working
01:55on it, or as you prefer, participants. Yeah, we have a lot of amazing people that work here and
02:02help us build this fantastic world and this beautiful place that we build in. So yeah,
02:08really big scale at the moment. With the starting point being a pretty magical setting.
02:12Absolutely. This is a beautiful setting that we don't have to do too much with the aesthetics.
02:18Luckily, we're surrounded in a beautiful woodland and a beautiful meadow surrounded by trees that
02:22can help us really make the insides, make you really feel like you've stepped into this world.
02:28So fantastic. And Danny, just say the dates, it's August, I've got them, August the 2nd to the 17th,
02:35isn't it? The three weekends, the three weekends, 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th.
02:40Fantastic. Well, congratulations on all the work. Wishing you lots of fantastic weather and
02:45crowds by the 1,000. Lovely to speak to you again, Danny. Thank you very much.
02:49Thank you, Phil. Really appreciate it.
