Ganja Moon formed in 1998 when four friends - lead vocalist Jah Rhythm, bassist Rootz, drummer Irie T, and percussionist Mango - started jamming in a smoke-filled basement. Inspired by classic reggae icons like Bob Marley and Burning Spear, they blended deep basslines with uplifting horn riffs to create an unforgettable live vibe. Word of their energetic shows spread quickly through underground clubs in London and Amsterdam. By 2000, they were a staple on the local circuit, known for extended dub sessions that kept crowds moving well past closing time.
Until now, their music has only been available on self-produced recordings, which were always sold out in no time at their live performances. By 2025, fan demand for a comprehensive collection grew impossible to ignore. Ganja Moon returned to Rootshed Studio to remaster their classics, record two new tracks, and package everything under the title "Greatest Spliffs". The album bridges twenty-five years of live magic, featuring polished studio takes alongside raw, live-in-the-room energy.
