00:00Hey guys, it's Mary and this week's theme on 7 Gymnastics Girls is Tutorial Week.
00:05So I'm going to be teaching you guys how to do a round off back handspring.
00:09And I think this skill is really important because as you go on in gymnastics
00:13most of your back tumbling will be like round off back handspring
00:16and lots of skills out of it.
00:18So here are my best tips and tricks for how to do a round off back handspring.
00:21Let's go!
00:30So before doing your round off back handspring you should warm up and stretch.
00:40I mainly focused on stretching my legs, my wrists, my back, and my ankles.
00:49So before actually connecting your round off with the back handspring
01:06you should have a solid round off with a high rebound
01:09and also a standing back handspring.
01:12So next I'm going to be showing you a drill for your round off back handspring.
01:20So one thing you can do is to do a round off, pause, swing your arms, and then do your back handspring.
01:25Keep swinging less and less until there's just a slight pause and you don't swing.
01:30After you keep practicing this you should be able to connect it.
01:35Try not to get in the habit of dropping your arms.
01:38Try to keep them by your ears the whole time
01:40because if you drop them like this you will probably not go for the back handspring.
01:44Keeping them by your head will make you more comfortable when you decide to connect it.
01:50This next one is to work on going back after the back handspring.
01:53So do your round off and then right after connect it to a back limber
01:57because a back limber is just like a slow back handspring.
02:02My next one is to help you get a lot of power.
02:04So all you have to do is just do a round off back handspring starting from your knee.
02:08And I was trying to film this for you guys and this is what happened.

02:21Okay, back to the drill.
02:34So after doing your round off back handspring from your knee a couple of times,
02:38try it on the ground again and you should feel so much more powerful.
02:43I just have two more quick tips to help you guys in your round off back handspring.
02:47The first one is to push off your front leg a lot when you're doing your round off,
02:51which will give you so much power going into your back handspring.
02:56You also want to stretch your back handspring out a lot,
02:58which means to make it as long as you can.
03:00The wider you make your back handspring, the easier it should be.
