00:00And so at 18, I had to make a big boy decision.
00:03Where am I going to go to college?
00:05Because most of my friends are going to medical school and law school and becoming engineers.
00:10They had a plan.
00:11I had no plan.
00:13My Spanish teacher, God bless her soul, said, listen, Richie, you love Spanish.
00:19And I see you go above and beyond.
00:21Why don't you double down on it?
00:22And I did and went to school at the University of Arizona.
00:25And I knew that once I left the classroom, Tucson had 1,000 people that spoke Spanish.
00:31But I was also smart enough to know that this was a chance that I couldn't let fall between my fingers.
00:38So if you can get past parents' guilt, if you can put aside the naysayers and great believers that love you, they just don't understand you.
00:47You might be able to carve your path in this world like you've done in the mountains of Thailand, which sounds beautiful.
00:53And I moved from Philadelphia to Costa Rica.
00:56We sometimes belong in other places, not that one's better than another.
01:01But I think we have a chance to enrich not only other people's lives but our own and almost start from scratch again.
01:08So you can see what you're like at a different stage of life.
01:11It gives you a really good chance to get to know yourself and to prioritize.
01:16And you're letting go of some weight.
01:18And you become a lot lighter and a lot more liberated.
01:22And I think it's a much healthier way to live.
