In this rare archival footage, witness the unmatched power and performance of the C-5M Super Galaxy — the world’s most powerful military cargo aircraft. ➤ First, watch as the C-5 Galaxy delivers multiple AH-64 Apache helicopters from Fort Bliss, Texas to Ramstein Air Base, Germany. This high-priority mission supported Operation Atlantic Resolve, ensuring rapid deployment under NATO's strategic alignment. ➤ Then, follow the C-5M from Travis Air Force Base as it smashes through 46 world aviation records in a single mission — a feat that brought its total to 89 world records, more than any aircraft in aviation history. This mission is not just a record-breaker — it’s a symbol of global reach, technical mastery, and unmatched heavy-lift capability. Every takeoff, delivery, and landing captured here is authentic, raw, and historically verified.
09:30In order for a mission to succeed, like this one, it takes a lot of work from all the entities here at Travis that we used like Aerial Port Maintenance and everybody coming together because everybody has a big role throughout that.
09:42So for the roles of the Weir, he's right back.
10:12they possibly can to make sure everything's checked, double-checked, triple-checked, coordinated,
10:20and throughout preparation, it's a sight to be seen.
10:24We do missions like this day in and day out where we are transporting tons of cargo all
10:31throughout the world and to be able to show the civilian population and the community
10:37in general that we can do this validates our mission and the necessity for us.
10:42An example would be a few of our crews got mobilized within 24 hours when the tsunami hit Japan
10:49and we were coordinated with active duty and the ability for us to all come together, jump in airplanes,
10:56and go do relief missions literally at a moment's notice is very important.
11:02I think the C-5 has always been known as a heavy lifter.
11:05We carry space container-modified missions, so satellite and outsized cargo, carrying heavy helicopters.
11:12We've always been known for doing that and I think the C-5M coming around in the last few years
11:17has really solidified us as that heavy lifter to the warfighter.
11:21Any time a lot of cargo needs to be moved, the C-5M Super Galaxy can be counted on to move it.
11:26It was a great feeling setting that final record, not only for the crew but thinking back
11:32as to all the hard work that the base put in and achieving it as we wanted to in even better times
11:39than we expected was a great feeling.
11:41It's kind of like you set the record.
11:43You know you've gotten to an altitude and we knew that we had done very well
11:47compared to what we practiced in the simulator.
11:51So once we hit that mark, we knew that things were going well.
11:55And then we had to continue to get to the top altitude.
11:58So we got to the top altitude and then, hey you know it's not over yet.
12:02We've got to come down safely, land, you know there's kind of more of the problem.
12:07The flight's not over until, you know, the airplane's parked basically.
12:11So we didn't have a chance to celebrate too much in the air but once we got down, you know,
12:15we were like alright, this happened and we were able to celebrate once we got on the ground.
12:27How's that short little barrier? Seems fine to me.
12:30Yeah, it looks good. I can see it over here.
12:34Okay.
12:41Hey, nice.
12:45Left weight walker's good. We'll have plenty of room to turn out of here.
