So this is the entry to the cannabis factory. We actually had to dig up part of the road to make
00:10
it safe, get the electricity board to come up and use JCBs to get to the power cables. The
00:17
actual door you can see now is where we forced entry. It was actually connected to the electricity
00:21
as a booby trap to either harm officers or other criminals coming to rob the factory. As we go in
00:29
we can see electrical equipment, soil just discarded which have been used for previous
00:35
grows. Living conditions you've got the toilet there with the water on the floor and electrical
00:39
cables all over the place. Again a shower cubicle more toilets so it shows that people have been
00:44
living in here for a little bit of time. There are multiple rooms like this you'll see in the video
00:50
just containing cannabis plants at different levels of growth therefore giving a continuous crop.
00:59
Again you can see wiring just all over the place. This is more the living area so you can see they've
01:05
customised it, TVs, sofas, American Fritcheries. So it's been established for a little while and it's
01:10
also the signs that there's multiple people or gardeners as we often call them living and working
01:16
here. Often this can be slavery where they're forced to do it. It's unlikely in this factory that
01:24
are being forced physically and being bolted and locked in which we've seen in other places
01:28
as they could get out but equally it could be being made to do it under fear of violence or debt.
01:35
Again here you can see some of the electrical works which are being made safe by UK Power but
01:40
you can see it's just very very dangerous and open circuits.
01:46
Some of the wiring you'll see on the floor in a minute is what was connected to the door.
01:50
Luckily the officer's got devices to check to see if doors are booby trapped.
01:55
You can see some of the thickness of the cable that was actually connected to the door handles
02:00
to cause a very very serious injury.
02:06
As we come in here you'll see a hole that's been dug by the
02:09
criminals into the floor to get to the main power cable coming into the building.
02:15
That's about 10 foot deep. You can just see top left hand corner the black cable which is about
02:22
the thickness of a tennis ball. So you can see they've got to that to tap into it. Really really
02:26
dangerous. It's not uncommon for these places to burn down. This room would have been a
02:33
grow at some point. It's obviously been harvested and there's a few old plants left.
02:36
As we walk through you'll see loads of empty boxes which is the lighting equipment and fans.
02:43
These again just more rooms full of plants. I think there's about 20 rooms in total.
02:48
This is some of the waste product from the chemicals and old soil. Here we've got younger plants.
03:03
Again the waste product and old harvests. So for disposal they just leave it here over time.
03:27
Old pots and soil. There's hundreds of old pots of soil now which would be for previous
03:32
groves. Here you've got a ladder which they can they use an escape method. They've actually built
03:37
this concrete wall or breeze block wall and they squeeze over a tiny breeze block size gap and punch
03:43
through a plasterboard wall. Up to the second floor again you've got an internally built rooms.
03:52
These plasterboard and wooden frame rooms have been built.
03:59
Again sleeping accommodation.
04:03
Very interesting wiring.
04:09
This would have been a nursery or the start of a nursery. Very very small plants.
04:12
This factory and others. The hunting and neighborhood team over the last couple of years have
04:25
secured about 10 million pounds in cannabis. We've taken off criminals and we often recover the cash
04:30
related to it via the proceeds of crime act as well. We're very very keen on that which means we
04:36
can really invest the money into crime and community events.
04:51
The factory was actually spotted by one of the neighborhood officers on foot patrol.
04:55
Notice that some brand new CCTV cameras have gone up on a deserted building.
05:00
Some really good police and the officer thought it was a bit strange and inquired a bit more.
05:04
Heard what he believed was fans put two and two together and about 10 minutes later we were inside.
05:13
Again you can just see wiring everywhere and when you see that wiring obviously it's mixed with water.
05:18
It's just so so dangerous. It took the electricity board or UK power networks hours to make it safe
05:26
and you know that's on top of having to dig up part of the road.
