00:00Are we good to go? All set?
00:03Alright, guys, Captain Subman will be with us.
00:06As usual, one question at a time. Please put your phones on silent.
00:09Who wants to go first?
00:11Yes, sir.
00:30Firstly, how do you play? It's very important rather than who you are playing.
00:36Secondly, depending on the ground, the history of the first ground,
00:44mostly, I think, 9-10 players are the same for all the conditions.
00:51It's different from one player.
00:54If you go into details, one player can be different.
00:58But if you can see that whoever plays well, you have many chances.
01:03But more or less, your 9-10 players are more similar, depending on if anyone has injury or any damage.
01:13Shubha, India might be 1-2 down, but be it at Leeds and be it at Lords, you had your chances.
01:19There were many times that India were in dominant positions.
01:21But probably losing wickets just before the break or losing wickets in a clutch was sort of a downfall.
01:26So, how hard it is for you to digest this, you know, India not able to seize the momentum and initiative?
01:32And any discussions around that heading into Manchester and Oval?
01:35Yes, so definitely, I think, at the start of every series, even when we were in Australia,
01:40we spoke about how we can start and close the sessions well.
01:43And all the betsmen, all the players who are playing in the middle are aware of that, that we want to be able to close the session well.
01:52And at times, yes, we have done that well.
01:55But we have seen there's a trend, even when we are bowling, we have seen at the start of a session, we would get some wickets.
02:00Or there would be no wickets in the session, at the end of the session, we would get a wicket.
02:04And vice versa, even when we are betting, we would start a session very well.
02:08But when it's important to be able to finish a session, we would lose a wicket, which definitely brings the opponent team back into the game.
02:15It is something that we are aware of, but sometimes, you know, it is not in your control, you try to do your best and it doesn't happen.
02:21Shuman, so far, the conditions we have faced in the series and coming into Manchester with the rain around, wicket looks a bit damp.
02:30Do you think it will be a bit stiffer test for the batters compared to other menus?
02:36Honestly, when I did yesterday, went to see the wicket, the wicket didn't look that damp.
02:43But obviously, now having to look at the weather, I don't think there is much chance for the wicket to dry that much route.
02:50So I think there would be a little bit more for the bowlers and generally on this venue, it's a little bit quicker than the other venues.
02:56We have seen there's a bit more pace and bounce.
02:58So we'll have to see how the test match pans out.
03:01Shuman, can I ask, I gather you as a team went to see Manchester United this week, the football team.
03:08How was that and did everybody enjoy it?
03:10Yes, definitely we did all enjoy it.
03:12You know, meeting top athletes from different sport is something that we all enjoy.
03:17You tend to see how different the sport is but how similar the mindset is and a lot of the players actually were big Man United fans.
03:28And it was great to be able to meet them and share some insights on different sports and yet have the same mindset.
03:36Were many of them cricket fans?
03:38Some of them who were English, most of the players were not from England.
03:45They have heard about, they have played the sport at some point but they said they were really bad at the sport so they didn't try it.
03:52But some of the English players had seen and played it in school.
03:56Shuman, after the last test you said you had a second to us but there have been a few injuries.
04:06How do you look at your combination now?
04:09Do you go back to your headigly combination?
04:12Because Niti Shruti was playing that role.
04:15How difficult has it been over the last two days for you guys planning the combination?
04:21Never easy, you know, when there's a bit of injuries going around in the squad.
04:28Like you said, Nitesh is going to miss out the series and Akash is also unavailable for this next match, so is Arshadip.
04:38But I think we have got enough good players in the team to be able to firstly get 20 wickets.
04:46That's been the most challenging part of the series, how, you know, as a team we are able to get 20 wickets.
04:51But I think looking at the weather, it should be a good game.
04:55Shubh, just directly, Akash has been ruled out for this match.
04:58Yes.
04:59And for the other, obviously, last place is between Washington and Asim Bola.
05:06Sir, let's leave some mystery here.
05:09Let's leave some mystery for tomorrow.
05:17Hi, Shubhman.
05:18Yesterday we saw Anshul Kambos is back in the team and now with so many injuries,
05:23there's a possibility that youngsters might be given a chance.
05:26So, when a young sir like him comes into the foray, what's the kind of message you have?
05:32Because the series is on the line and there are too many issues to deal with in terms of injuries.
05:37So, if you could just tell us what has the communication been with him and what are you planning around him?
05:44The communication is simple, sir.
05:45We have seen him enough.
05:48I think the kind of skill set that he brings to the table is exactly what we want in this team.
05:53And he's there because we believe that he can win us the match.
05:56Even in the second test match when Aakash Teep was bought in, a lot of people had questions, you know, why he's been bought in.
06:04But it's mainly the belief that we have within our squad that any player that comes in the team is able to or can win matches for us.
06:14Shuman, four test matches and every test match, you're forced to have a different bowling combination.
06:20Something which you wouldn't ideally do, change bowling attack in every game.
06:24First due to just with Bumrah's unavailability and now due to the injuries.
06:27How frustrating it is as a captain after every match, you need to get into harder and find those right bowlers.
06:33And just an extension on Anshul Kamboj, how close is he to making his debut tomorrow?
06:39Firstly, it's not ideal when, you know, you have to, after every match, you kind of have to go back and have a different combination.
06:50But it was something that I was prepared before the series that there would be a scenario where I would have to have a different combination for every match.
07:01And so, I kind of planned it before the series, you know, how we're going to go about it.
07:06And secondly, yes, Anshul, he is very close to making his debut.
07:10We're going to see, we're going to see tomorrow between him and Prasad who's going to, who's going to make it to the 11.
07:17Shuman, I just wanted to see majority of your top order batters right till Rishabh Pant have got runs.
07:24You, Rishabh, Yashaspi, KL.
07:26Has there been any discussion or conversation with Karun Nayar, he's got those starts, but hasn't been able to convert them.
07:35So, is there a thought that maybe Sai, Sudarshan or Karun Nayar, one out of both of them, one out of the two, or maybe both of them can play tomorrow?
07:47Yes, we have had conversations with him, but we think he is betting well.
07:53Yes, with Karun.
07:54We think Karun is betting well.
07:56Sometimes it's not first match, he didn't really play at his number.
08:01It's difficult when a player is making a comeback in a series like this, you know, but I don't think there's been any issue with his betting.
08:07I think he's been betting well.
08:10Sometimes it's also about getting that click, you know, once you're able to make your 50, then you're able to get back into your zone and get some big runs.
08:19Unfortunately, that hasn't happened for him so far, but we are hopeful that he will be able to turn around.
08:26Shubman, three games at the hill, you've had an interesting ride in these three matches as batter and captain.
08:32How much have you enjoyed this journey so far?
08:36I enjoyed it very much, sir.
08:37I think the kind of learnings and the kind of experience that I've had playing with this amazing bunch of players against a really good opponent.
08:48I've had a great experience, a lot of learnings to be taken from this.
08:52And most importantly, I think I've really enjoyed playing these three matches.
08:57I've had a lot of fun and hopefully in the next two matches, it's the luck is going to be with us and we'll be able to turn this around.
09:06Captain, can you keep Rishabhman's wicket keeping?
09:09Yes.
09:12Shubman, just a follow up on that one.
09:15You might have had thoughts about captaincy, you know, before you actually got in the kind of things that you wanted to do.
09:21Now three games in, how different has it been in the sense that like when you get off the field, like when you're captaining on a fielding day,
09:29does it feel like a little more tiring than you might have been when you got off just as a player?
09:34How different has it been in that sense from what you thought of what captaincy would be like to what it actually is over these three days?
09:41So honestly, physically, I would say it's been less tiring, mentally more tiring.
09:44Because when you are there as a player, sometimes, you know, you're just thinking about, you're waiting for something to happen, the ball to come to you.
09:57Whereas when you're the captain, you're thinking most of the time, so you are involved more mentally.
10:02So I would say mentally, it's been more tiring.
10:04Physically, it's actually been less tiring than when you're actually the player.
10:08England say it was your decision to confront Zach Crawley that led to the confrontational tactics they adopted.
10:16Do you regret it?
10:18Will you think, again, about employing such tactics here?
10:23It seems to backfire at Lourdes.
10:25Yes, a lot of people have been talking about it.
10:27So let me just clear the air for once and for all.
10:30The English batsmen on that day, they had seven minutes of play left.
10:34They were 90 seconds late to come to the crease.
10:36Not 10, not 20, 90 seconds late.
10:39Yes, most of the teams, they use this.
10:43Even if we were in a position, we would have also liked to play lesser overs, but there's a manner to do it.
10:47And we felt, yes, if you get hit on your body, the physios are allowed to come on.
10:52And that is something that is fair.
10:53But to be able to come 90 seconds late on the crease is not something that I would think comes in the spirit of the game.
11:01And just leading up to that event, a lot of things that we thought should not have happened, that it happened.
11:10And I wouldn't say it was something that I'm very proud of, but there was a lead up and build up to that.
11:16It didn't just come out of nowhere.
11:18And we had no intention of doing that whatsoever.
11:20But you're playing a game you're playing to win, and there are a lot of emotions involved.
11:26And when you see there are things happening that should not happen, sometimes the emotions come out of nowhere.
