00:00Not really but I always feel when finish the first story then go to the next one because
00:07now the IPL is also most important when we are in the IPL, during the IPL.
00:11So I think it is also most important so finishing this and then obviously we will have time to
00:15prepare so I will use that bracket of days so that I will be ready for the test series.
00:22Sabu from Times of India.
00:24Yes sir.
00:25Congratulations.
00:27Thank you so much.
00:28In the last two matches you know only five wickets have been taken by the bowling attack.
00:33Going ahead into the playoffs you know is it a matter of concern that the bowling doesn't
00:38you know.
00:39I mean each bowler has their own attribute to do for the team.
00:42Some might be wicket takers, some might be you know people who contain the run so I think
00:46we will have the right plans accordingly and move forward for the game.
00:49Definitely we will take the learnings and we will take the what can I say the experiences
00:53from last few games but I think we will have the right plans and forward.
00:57I mean definitely because of the experiences our hunger is a bit more I would say.
01:01The hunger to finish in top two is definitely a bit more and from planning point of it there
01:06won't be a big difference or we as a team we don't change a lot from you know from the
01:11result.
01:12We don't try and do a lot of different things if the match goes either way.
01:16So our planning or our preparation will be very similar to what we have done for all thirteen
01:20games.
01:21And I think we will try to be more proactive and react well in the game so that we get the
01:26right result we wanted.
01:27Two questions, one is your personal question and the other.
01:34So I will first ask a personal question.
01:36What position would you like to play when you are selected in the eleven of Indian team?
01:41Your preference, whether it is opening, three…
01:43Sir, I think playing for the country itself is a very big privilege for a cricketer so
01:48I don't think I am in a position to choose where I want to play.
01:51Wherever I am going… wherever the coaches tell me to play I think I will be mentally and
01:57obviously skillfully you know try and be ready for the opportunity.
02:00But what's your liking?
02:01That's of course…
02:02I have a lot of liking sir.
02:04I think I have to be ready for whichever the team gives me.
02:07Okay.
02:08I will be ready for that yeah.
02:09Now what is the team's thinking about the top two positions you know?
02:14Have you all team meeting calculated what if, if but depending on the other teams also?
02:21How do you… you lose what happens, the other teams win?
02:24That calculation.
02:25The other thing is Rashid Khan's dip in bowling form has hurt team in my opinion whatever matches
02:35like the previous match where one over of his really turned the kind of momentum of the match.
02:42So is that a worry and what steps are being taken to see that you know he gets back to
02:48his form when the actual business end of the tournament starts?
02:52Yeah.
02:53So your first question I think we are more focused on what we can control sir.
02:58Our results and our plans, our preparation, our executions are more in our control so that
03:03we don't think about the other team's results, other team's victory or loses.
03:08But at the same time as a team we would definitely have conversations about finishing in one and
03:12two so that in a tournament like this and in a very competitive tournament like this I think
03:16if we get an extra opportunity in the playoffs it's the best thing a team can get.
03:21So from that point of view I think we are focusing on obviously finishing in one and two and giving
03:26our best in the last game.
03:28At the same time not focusing on what the other teams and not focusing on the possibilities
03:32of where we are going.
03:33I think we are not focusing on that.
03:35We are focusing on what we have to do.
03:37And for your second question I would say a bowler like Rashid Khan, he cannot question
03:44his integrity because he has taken so many so many wickets in the T20 cricket and he is
03:48one of the legend, one of the best bowlers in T20 I have ever seen.
03:52So I think as a cricketer you always have certain games or certain experiences like this
03:57to learn and to you know remember yourself what you are doing really well.
04:01I think Rashid Khan is working as always, he is always a hard worker.
04:05So I think he is reflecting on the games and obviously sometimes somebody or the other
04:10because it is a high scoring you know the ground is also a high scoring venue.
04:14So sometimes some bowlers will definitely get hit.
04:17It doesn't mean they are not at their best or they are not you know bowling well.
04:21I feel sometimes that happens for sure.
04:23So he will definitely reflect on it and he will definitely give a very good result next games.
04:31Thanks, Siddharth here from the PTI. Congratulations, a spot well desert for you.
04:37Coming to tomorrow's match, you know the teams which are down the table, we saw it with Lucknow also.
04:44Do you think that is playing in your mind because those teams they have nothing to lose
04:49and when they come out on the middle they are all guns blazing you know the fear of the tournament,
04:54the mathematics calculation all is gone.
04:57So is that coming back of your mind are you seeing to that like to overcome that especially in tomorrow's match because you can't put off Chennai in any point of time.
05:10I mean definitely sir I think teams which have gone out of the competition I think they have more freedom to do whatever they want.
05:17They don't have that pressure of delivering it at the exact moment.
05:21So I feel we are definitely you know not focusing on overcoming it but at the same time we are just trying to do our things better or our things to our best so that these objectives will not come into play.
05:35Sir, many congratulations on the call-up. What was that feeling of getting the first maiden test call-up for your country?
05:45You know you have worked hard in the domestic set-up, you have played county cricket. Can you tell us about the feeling of getting the maiden test call-up?
05:52It obviously feels great, feels very special to be honest and surreal also. Any cricketer, any young cricketer who starts playing cricket wants to play test cricket, wants to play for the country, wants to you know represent the ultimate goal is always to play test cricket.
06:10So really happy for that, really grateful for that because there are so many so many people who has helped me through the journey.
06:17So I think I am grateful for them and grateful for my parents as well.
06:21Very happy that I know my parents will be happy today so I am very happy for that.
06:26Just one more addition, your Gujarat Titans captain Shubhman Gil has also been named as the new test captain.
06:33So just a few words for him as well, how big a responsibility is and can you describe him as a leader?
06:41I mean Shubhi is over the years, I have been a part of his growth as well, I have seen him for the last four years, such a talented bassman, such a skilful bassman, anybody can you know see.
06:53So I feel he will definitely do laurels and great things for the country and I am grateful and I am very happy to play under him as my first test series.
07:04So you were talking about your family being extremely happy, you know with the news of the call up.
07:11Have you had a chance to like properly talk to them yet on the call or something?
07:15I actually had a chance, you know I took a face time with my parents and my brother in the call so really happy for that and some family friends and close friends as well, really happy.
07:25They were very happy and I could see that in their face but it's just a start, I think there's a lot more, lot more to the story to add up to so they have definitely, we are very happy for that.
07:38Hypothetic, team has been winning matches throughout the tournament, I mean it's the best win record that they have had and they lost to Lucknow and now they are meeting CSK.
07:54What if you lose that match, will it affect the moral of the team going into play-offs or will it inspire them to get back to, get back strongly?
08:06How, as an individual, how will you react?
08:09You are asking me if we lose the game?
08:12Yes.
08:13If we lose the game.
08:14I think it will be very similar sir, I don't think there will be a big difference but definitely as a team we would love to have the momentum going into the play-offs, important phases of the game.
08:23But if a hypothetical situation happens like what you say, I think we will take it to our chin and we will see what more we can do better because we have an opportunity to, you know, do it better in the next game.
08:36So, we will try and work on that and give our best.
08:39When whatever comes, we will take it our way and we will give 100%.
08:43Because it's hypothetical.
08:45With Jaws not expected to be there in the play-offs, will we see someone new at number 3 tomorrow?
08:51I don't think so sir, I think Jaws, till Jaws is there, I think Jaws will play the game.
08:58I was saying, talking about the test match and the spot which you have got.
09:04You know, test is a different ball game altogether.
09:07Coming from T20 and we have seen the how to into T20 you have to go all guns blazing.
09:13It's a different ball game.
09:14How are you preparing mentally also?
09:17Is it very easy for you to flip from there to this time or how mentally are you preparing for that?
09:23Because test, it's the pinnacle of cricket.
09:26And how do you see, especially going for overseas tours, it's a difficult task, it's a tedious task.
09:33How do you see it?
09:34I mean definitely, as you rightly mentioned, transitioning from white ball to red ball takes a bit of time.
09:39I think I focus a lot more on my basics, I focus a lot more on my patience even outside the field.
09:44The more patient you are, the more it reflects inside the field.
09:47So, test cricket is all about patience and longevity.
09:50So, I feel the more I focus on that, the more I be aware of it, I think it will be a great experience.
