00:00far during pre-season have kind of blowing hot and cold it'd be fair to say defeat against
00:06Bolton Wanderers of League One at Easter Road at the weekend and as you mentioned off the call
00:12a failure to register a shot on target I know you were covering the game at the weekend but
00:17how do you feel Hibs are kind of shaping up ahead of this massive game for the club?
00:23Yeah David Gray described it as kind of getting caught in between two minds almost like
00:27they've played a range of opponents in this pre-season that have kind of they played Ajax
00:32in Bournemouth which I can imagine they probably don't have the ball for long spells of it but
00:36probably mixing that with friendlies against trying to get a different range of styles of play
00:41basically and on Saturday kind of described as they get caught in the middle between trying to
00:46just defend what they had trying to defend their goal and trying to attack and they kind of tried
00:50to do a bit of both and it just didn't work and you would rather that happen in that type of
00:55environment than Middellins so he's quite happy with where the team's at they have made
01:01a couple of eye-catching signings Jamie McGrath from Aberdeen obviously was one that was well
01:06known but they've smashed their transfer record to sign T-Ball Clegie and probably don't know if
01:11that's how you pronounce it that's what I'm going to go with anyway broke their record
01:14transfer fee to sign him albeit probably wouldn't expect him to start not that he needs to in these
01:19games with Kieran Bowie and Martin Boyle fit but a really tough tie for Hibs and Elbe the away leg is
01:29going to be key and that they just need to try and get it back to Easter Road even if it turns out
01:34that they get beat they just need to not get hammered over there like beat three or four nil and then it
01:38kind of kills the buzz for them coming back if they can get this tie back at a draw even a narrow
01:44defeat but obviously a win is what they're after then I think they'd be buzzing for that at a really
01:50busy Easter Road to try and cheer them over the line because as you said the draw for the third
01:55qualifying rounds were done today and if they do get through this they'll play Frederikstad FK of
02:00Norway I don't think they've been in Europe since 2009 there's no easy tie in Europe as they always
02:05say at this stage but that is as favourable as a tie you can get and if they get through that
02:10albeit you're jumping to a lot of conclusions here but you would imagine they'd be favourites
02:14for that tie and if they managed to get through that round they would be guaranteed the league
02:18face in some sort of form so this game is massive not just for the prestige for Hibs but just for
02:24their future long term it gives them a right good chance of securing millions in revenue from
02:30prize money and obviously adding gate receipts and whatnot because if they lose this they drop into
02:35that the conference league and it's not exactly easy they're potentially going to play partisan
02:40Belgrade or FC Austria from Ukraine and which would be two pretty awful ties to try and get through as
02:48well so it's a huge tie for them and as we kind of all knew it would be and yeah I mean just hoping for
02:57the best for them that they do manage to to first of all get through this game relatively unscathed and
03:03then I think at the very minimum Hibs fans just want a game to be had at Easter Road and not just
03:08playing it almost like a dead rubber almost because it's three or four nil and there's kind of no way
03:12back as long as this tie is still alive at Easter Road I think Hibs fans would take that
03:16years of everything for the same time it doesn't have to do the same thing so bad that they don't feel like
03:20happy if they're at Easter Road weirre.com
