Denise Richards' estranged husband is revealing what ignited their explosive July 4 fight, and subsequent divorce -- he claims he caught her cheating, and has text messages to back that up.

00:00We have a lot to talk about today.

00:02We are going to start, hold on one second.

00:04We may be a little distracted at moments.

00:07We are in the middle of working on a very big story,

00:09so this is going to be fluid as we go through this today.

00:14Okay, let's start with Denise.

00:15Denise Richards.

00:16We are going to start with Denise Richards

00:19and her estranged husband,

00:21who now says there is a reason he filed for divorce.

00:25Right, we knew that it was all about a fight on July 4th.

00:29He said that, Denise said that,

00:32but there is a different version

00:33about why they were fighting on July 4th,

00:36and Aaron Pfeipers spoke to us exclusively about that weekend,

00:40and this is his version, some of his version of what transpired.

00:46He says this is really about the fact that Denise was cheating,

00:51that he had caught her cheating.

00:53And it came to a head on July 4th,

00:56that on July 4th he said he couldn't find his phone,

00:59and he's looking all around for his phone in their house,

01:02and he eventually finds it,

01:05but where he found it led to the confrontation.

01:09I'm looking around and I just had this sinking feeling

01:12that's in one of the garbage bins.

01:14I'm digging through it, digging through it,

01:15and I find this one of our bath towels.

01:19It's gray, like charcoal gray.

01:23And there's my phone.

01:25It's smashed to pieces.

01:28I have her pass codes for her stuff.

01:30I'm going through it,

01:31and I go in to delete it,

01:33and I see some text messages that are super inappropriate.

01:36And I'm like, what the hell?

01:40And she goes, what?

01:41She wakes up and I go, why are you doing this?

01:45And she goes, oh my God, please don't leave me.

01:47Don't leave me.

01:47And crushed, man.

01:49Nine years with vows.

01:51Before she said, no problem.

01:53You can look at my stuff anytime.

01:55I want to rebuild trust after I caught her the first time.

01:59Well, I opened her computer,

02:05and all I did is I hit refresh or upload or sync or whatever.

02:08I just hit iCloud thing, man.

02:10And it repopulated all the text communication

02:13that she deleted from her stuff.

02:15And it was jaw-dropping.

02:17So let me just kind of explain this.

02:19So he couldn't figure out why would she destroy his cell phone.

02:24And the reason that she allegedly destroyed the phone

02:29is he had taken pictures of her phone

02:32and the various text messages.

02:34It was her laptop.

02:35Her laptop.

02:35He had found, he says he found these text messages

02:38between her and this other man on her laptop

02:41and took photos.

02:41So he puts it on his phone,

02:43and she allegedly destroys the phone

02:46so it would remove evidence,

02:47which is weird because it would be in the cloud.

02:49Why wouldn't she realize that

02:50he's going to have a copy of it on the cloud?

02:53Well, that's his story.

02:55So then he goes and files for divorce.

02:59He says that he caught her once

03:02and then caught her a second time

03:04and then finds these...

03:05And then...

03:06And then finds out that she destroys the phone

03:08and that's it.

03:09He files for divorce.

03:10Now, he said that the reason...

03:12The other thing we thought was weird

03:13is because he listed the date of separation

03:15as July 4th.

03:16Now we know why.

03:17But then he filed for divorce on July 7th,

03:20that Monday after 4th of July weekend.

03:22Ran to court.

03:22And we were wondering...

03:24It seemed like he was more prepared for this

03:26because of everything he listed in the divorce.

03:29Right.

03:30He says the reason he raced to court

03:32was to get there before Denise.

03:34Which makes no sense because...

03:36After they had the fight on July 4th and 5th,

03:38Denise contacted his mother, Aaron's mother, he says,

03:42and told her that she was going to divorce Aaron.

03:46So, it doesn't make any difference.

03:48California is a no-fault state.

03:58The reason he wanted to talk about this

04:00is because Denise has made this allegation

04:03that Aaron abused her.

04:06That he was beating her for several years.

04:09And she had that photo.

04:10Remember, we showed you the very graphic photo

04:13of a black eye that she had.

04:15He says that's absolutely not the case.

04:17And he wanted to make it clear

04:19what was really going on

04:21and why he filed for divorce.

04:22As for that black eye,

04:23what did he say about the black eye?

04:25So, essentially, obviously,

04:26he had denied that he ever...

04:28Hit her.

04:30I said, well, in her restraining order,

04:33there's a date she gives in 2022

04:34and put the photo up there

04:36with that horrific black eye.

04:38Like, do you know what happened?

04:40And he says that allegedly she was drunk

04:43and showed up at his office

04:44and that she fell and hit a pole

04:46that was at her...

04:47Like, she fell into a pole

04:49because she was wasted, according to him.

04:51And that, not only that,

04:52but he has employees of his

04:54who witnessed the whole thing

04:55that can basically back up his story.

04:57I don't know if you guys are aware of this.

04:59So, we got agency video from yesterday

05:02of Aaron showing...

05:04He was leaving the Malibu Sheriff's Department.

05:07And so we reached out to them

05:08and all they would confirm

05:10was that he did show up

05:12to file a police report.

05:13They wouldn't tell us the narrative,

05:15but I reached out to some people.

05:16They told me he went yesterday

05:18to file the police report

05:20over the smashed cell phone.

05:24This is a very messy

05:26and sad situation between the two.

05:29No one deserves to be treated

05:31in such a way

05:32when it comes to violence

05:34or abuse, verbal abuse.

05:36And the looks of it,

05:37it doesn't look like

05:39that Denise failed

05:41and injured her own self

05:43from being drunk

05:45and coming into his office.

05:46Yeah, no, you are absolutely right

05:49about things going over the top.

05:51And we're going to see that, I think,

05:52as this divorce plays out

05:54because clearly they both have

05:55a lot of issues and things

05:56that were going on

05:58before they even got to the point

05:59of filing for divorce.
