00:06Big story. Jagdeep Dhankar has cited medical reasons. Remember, Jagdeep Dhankar has been in
00:12and out of hospital in recent months. Today the parliament session began, but now comes this
00:18dramatic announcement by Mr. Dhankar that he is resigning. He was chairing the Rajasabha. He's
00:26the chairperson of the Rajasabha. He was out there in the morning holding forth. And now
00:31suddenly at about 9.30 this evening has come the big story that Jagdeep Dhankar has resigned
00:39as Vice President citing medical reasons. We're going to get you more details on that. Remember,
00:45Mr. Dhankar just a month ago had gone on a visit to Uttarakhand and complained of chest pain,
00:52was taken to a hospital. That was not the only occasion. There was a previous occasion a couple
00:59of months ago where similarly he had complained of chest pain. So Jagdeep Dhankar has resigned
01:06on health grounds. That's the big story that's breaking at the moment here on the news today.
01:13Piyush Mishra, my colleague is joining me with that story. Piyush, give us more reason because
01:18only this morning, Mr. Dhankar was conducting the proceedings of the Rajasabha.
01:24Well, certainly in the morning itself he was conducting the proceedings of Rajasabha. And now
01:29what we have told is that he has put down his papers. He has resigned on health grounds. And
01:34his office has also tweeted a notification which says, and I quote, to prioritize health care and
01:41abide by medical advice, I have resigned as the Vice President of India effective immediately.
01:46In accordance with Article 67A of the Constitution, he is also the Vice President of India. The
01:52former who is now former, he has also extended his deepest gratitude to the honorable President
01:58of India for her unbibling support and the soothing, wonderful working relationship as he maintained
02:04during his tenure. Remember this, Rajasabha. In the last few months, we have seen how Jagdeep Dhankar
02:10was in and out of the hospital. He was also admitted in Maine, where top leaders of the
02:15government had also gone to visit him. And during his visits to other parts of the country,
02:19also we have seen, you know, Jagdeep Dhankar falling ill because of that. Now what we are told
02:25is that on health grounds, Jagdeep Dhankar, Vice President, has now resigned from his post. He had,
02:32earlier he served as the governor of West Bengal and since August 2022, he was holding this
02:39constitutional force and today in the morning also, we saw him holding this office. He was conducting
02:45the proceedings of Rajasabha, but now he has resigned and he has also expressed his deep gratitude to the
02:53Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Council of the Ministry. And he has also added that the Prime Minister's
02:59cooperation and support has been invaluable and he has learned a lot during his time in the office.

03:52information. We also remember that during his last visit to the state of Himachal Pradesh,
03:58Jabir Dhankar has fallen in and now on health grounds, he has resigned from the course of Vice President of India.
