00:00West Ham are entering a crucial summer
00:06underground Potter as they look to rebuild
00:08in a more measured, sustainable way
00:10following a disappointing season
00:13as they come off the back of Potter coming in
00:16and rather than launching into another window
00:18of wholesale change, the focus this year
00:21is on methodical planning, internal development
00:23and building a clear identity.
00:27Potter known for his calm and progressive style
00:29is guiding a quieter, more thoughtful approach
00:32one that prioritises culture over chaos
00:35The arrival of left-back El Hadi Malik Jouf
00:38is seen as the first of several targeted moves
00:41rather than part of a spending spree
00:43West Ham aren't standing still
00:45but they're choosing a calmer path forward
00:47with Potter's influence growing
00:49and a long-term vision taking shape
00:51this summer could mark a turning point for the Hammers
00:55We caught up with James Jones of London World
00:58to get an insight into how West Ham are operating
01:01behind the scenes
01:02He explained that the club's mindset is very different
01:05to recent years
01:06with Potter playing a leading role
01:09in shaping both the dressing room
01:10and the transfer strategy
01:12So James, in terms of West Ham's summer window
01:17obviously it's been fairly quiet so far
01:19in terms of incomes especially
01:21Do you feel that it's going to eventually start to hot up
01:25and there's going to be new names throughout the door?
01:27What can West Ham expect
01:29and the fans expect for the remainder?
01:31Because obviously we've mentioned before
01:33this isn't Graham Potter's full squad
01:36he wants to make sure he's got some names
01:38he can rely on for this season
01:40that because of the sort of issues
01:42that were there last season
01:43it does come with a bit of pressure
01:45this new campaign
01:46It comes with a lot of pressure
01:48I think this is one of the most important summers
01:52for a very long time
01:54where West Ham's concerned
01:55They need to do a lot of work
01:59There's a lot of stuff that needs to be fixed
02:01after what happened last season
02:04and obviously the last summer's transfer window
02:06and that not really turning into anything
02:10other than a bit of a failure
02:11and now it was only about a month ago
02:15even before the transfer window opened
02:17that the rumours were that the club had to sell
02:19before they could buy
02:20for PSR reasons and all the rest of it
02:23so that's added a lot more worry
02:24from an expectation point of view
02:26where the fans are concerned
02:28the fans expect the squad to be stronger
02:32before a ball is kicked in the Premier League
02:36when we travelled to Sunderland
02:37on the opening weekend
02:39but realistically speaking
02:43I think it's going to be unlikely
02:44that the squad is going to be ready
02:45for that first game
02:47but once one or two players are sold
02:51and I think that's what the club are waiting for
02:52they're waiting for one or two big exits
02:54in order for them to be able to then fund
02:57some deals which we're now being led to believe
03:01deals are waiting to happen
03:03it's just whether we can get some exits
03:05out the door to then fund these incomings
03:08so there are one or two signings
03:09that we're led to believe are on the verge of happening
03:11which will improve the squad
03:14but there's so many
03:16just one or two won't be enough
03:18there's so much work to be done
03:19across all areas of the squad really
03:21so it's a little bit of a concerning time
03:23for West Ham and the supporters I think
03:26and in terms of Mohamed Koudis
03:30could he be one of that star sort of exit
03:33that goes out of the door
03:34I mean you know
03:35we've obviously touched on his first season
03:37in England
03:37he was electric
03:38one of the best players in the league
03:39where do you think it's maybe gone wrong
03:41for Koudis in terms of his West Ham time
03:43maybe last season he did struggle
03:45do you feel possibly it's because
03:47his best position may be on the right
03:49his best numbers were there
03:50and you know it's obviously tough to get over
03:52Gerard Bowen in that system
03:53or you know how did you find it
03:57how did you West Ham fans view
03:59his sort of struggles
04:00and you know possibly having to say goodbye
04:03to him this summer
04:03I think what we saw with Bahama Koudis last year
04:06was that he's predominantly a confidence player
04:08and last year he just didn't have any
04:10he just rarely had any confidence
04:12and you know what that was down to last year
04:16yes it could be a mixture of new manager
04:18in Julian Lopate he came in
04:20and was maybe giving him some instructions
04:22maybe kind of you know hindering
04:24his abilities a little bit
04:25compared to what David Moyes
04:26was getting out with him the year before
04:27and then we saw a slight improvement
04:31after Graham Potter came in
04:33after the new year
04:34you know not many players
04:36who have left West Ham
04:38to sign for Spurs
04:39have remained favourites
04:41amongst the West Ham fan base
04:42let's put it that way
04:43this morning
04:44and then
04:49I hosted the virus
04:52with K compt 56
04:52of him
04:53because that moment
04:54kind of the delay
04:55he didn't have toнул
04:56after him
04:56from the past
04:57when the noise
04:57has driven
04:59yet
04:59so
05:00I don't know
05:00how did I flip that
05:01because that fact
05:02was not going to the end
05:03OK
05:03so
