00:00West Ham are entering a pivotal summer under manager Graham Potter
00:06with significant changes already underway
00:09following a season that fell short of expectations.
00:13As the Hammers look to reassert themselves in the Premier League
00:16this summer's activity will be crucial in reshaping the squad
00:19and setting the tone for the season ahead.
00:23With some key players departing and fresh investment
00:26hoping for from fans the focus is on strengthening vital positions
00:31and building a squad that can compete consistently.
00:34Potter's tactical vision demands quality and versatility
00:37meaning recruitment will be needed to be precise and ambitious.
00:42This summer represents more than just transfers
00:45it's a defining moment for West Ham to rebuild
00:47with ambition and stability ahead of a season
00:50that could shape their trajectory for years to come.
00:53We spoke to James Jones of London World
00:56who offered insight into West Ham's approach to this critical summer
01:00where the club is targeting reinforcements
01:02and how Potter is influencing recruitment for the next season ahead.
01:08So James in terms of West Ham's summer window
01:12obviously it's been fairly quiet so far in terms of incomes especially
01:16do you feel that it's going to eventually start to hot up
01:20and there's going to be new names throughout the door.
01:22What can West Ham expect and the fans expect for the remainder?
01:27Because obviously we've mentioned before
01:29this isn't Graham Potter's full squad
01:31he wants to make sure he's got some names he can rely on
01:34for this season that because of the issues that were there last season
01:39it does come with a bit of pressure this new campaign.
01:42It comes with a lot of pressure.
01:44I think this is one of the most important summers for a very long time
01:49where West Ham's concerned.
01:52They need to do a lot of work.
01:55There's a lot of stuff that needs to be fixed
01:57after what happened last season
01:59and obviously the last summer's transfer window
02:01and that not really turning into anything other than a bit of a failure
02:07and now it was only about a month ago
02:11even before the transfer window opened
02:12that the rumours were that the club had to sell
02:15before they could buy for PSR reasons and all the rest of it
02:18so that's added a lot more worry
02:20from an expectation point of view
02:22where the fans are concerned
02:24the fans expect the squad to be stronger
02:27before a ball is kicked in the Premier League
02:32when we travel to Sunderland on the opening weekend
02:34but realistically speaking
02:38I think it's going to be unlikely
02:39that the squad is going to be ready for that first game
02:42but once one or two players are sold
02:46and I think that's what the club are waiting for
02:48they're waiting for one or two big exits
02:49so then in order for them to be able to then fund some deals
02:54which we're now being led to believe
02:56deals are waiting to happen
02:58it's just whether we can get some exits out the door
03:01to then fund these incomings
03:03so there are one or two signings
03:04that we're led to believe are on the verge of happening
03:07which will improve the squad
03:09but there's so many
03:11just one or two won't be enough
03:13there's so much work to be done
03:14across all areas of the squad really
03:16so it's a little bit of a concerning time
03:19for West Ham and the supporters I think
03:21and in terms of Mohamed Koudis
03:25could he be one of that star sort of exit
03:28that goes out of the door
03:29I mean you know
03:30we've obviously touched on his first season in England
03:33he was electric
03:33one of the best players in the league
03:35where do you think it's maybe gone wrong for Koudis
03:37in terms of his West Ham time
03:39maybe last season he did struggle
03:40do you feel possibly it's because
03:42his best position may be on the right
03:44his best numbers were there
03:46and you know
03:46it's obviously tough to get over
03:47Jarrod Bowen in that system
03:49or you know
03:50how did you find it
03:52how did you
03:53West Ham fans view his sort of struggles
03:56and you know
03:57possibly having to say goodbye to him this summer
03:59well I think what we saw with Bahama Koudis last year
04:02was that he's predominantly a confidence player
04:04and last year he just didn't have any
04:06he just rarely had any confidence
04:08and you know
04:09what that was down to last year
04:11yes it could be
04:12a mixture of new manager
04:14in Euland Lopategui came in
04:15and was maybe
04:16giving him some instructions
04:18maybe kind of you know
04:19hindering his abilities a little bit
04:21compared to what David Moyes was getting out with him
04:22the year before
04:23there he's made a decision
04:25he wants to sign for Tottenham
04:26what that does for his legacy
04:29as a West Ham player
04:30I'll leave that up to everyone's imagination
04:34because you know
04:35not many players
04:35who have left West Ham
04:37to sign for Spurs
04:38have remained
04:39favourites amongst the West Ham fan base
04:42let's put it that way
04:44and put it on
04:45and want to go
04:45to the West Ham
04:46which cannot be
04:47Dubbo
04:47may be
04:49you know
04:51it's the final
04:52the end
04:53there
04:55there
04:57is
04:57it's
