Seven boys, who are either orphans or come from troubled families, live in a rented boarding home run by the Welfare Office. They enjoy a feeling of family life thanks to their loving caretakers, Koohyar Tavakkoli, Mehri Ashrafi and Uncle Roshan. But their happiness is short-lived as the landlord asks them to vacate the building. That means the boys have to live separately until they find a new place. But, things take a different turn after a chance encounter in the hospital between the youngest of the boys and an old man who lives in a nearby village.

00:00Nurse, come here! Hurry! The man is dying!
00:05Please come! Believe me, the man in there is dying!
00:14Announce code 110. Quick!
00:30Turn on the machine. Attach it. Okay.
00:56We've been working hard for this house
00:59for the past two years.
01:01The boys are satisfied with their condition.
01:03Of course, they should be satisfied, ma'am.
01:05They're left to themselves to do as they please.
01:08And aren't they well-mannered?
01:10And for once, after all this time,
01:13I wanted to punish just one of them.
01:15But even the office got wind of the news.
01:17The whole town knows about it.
01:19All I need is to hear a report about it on TV.
01:22If it was up to me, I'd report it to the TV as well, Mr. Golami.
01:26Of course.
01:27How dare you raise your hand against an orphan?
01:29Of course, Mrs. Astrafi.
01:31That issue, uh, has been settled.
01:34Our costume, too, has realized that his behavior was wrong
01:37and he really regrets what happened.
01:39What about you, Mr. Tavakoli?
01:41It seems you've forgotten how you made a fool of me before those kids and threw me out.
01:47Mr. Golami, I asked you to leave to end the trouble. I wanted the kids to settle down.
01:51How could he have known it was his sister's picture?
01:53Yeah, but you sometimes punish your own kids, too, you know.
01:56An unruly child must be beaten.
01:59Please take a look at these books on behavioral education and only then we'll talk.
02:03The fact that you've read them is enough for us.
02:05But we've got more experience than all of you together.
02:08Thank God our kids are successful people today.
02:11And who raised them? It was us, right?
02:13So all you're concerned about is your own kids, and thank God...
02:16Please, send out a satellite, everyone. I swear these kids are number one.
02:19Come on, it's too late for that, man.
02:22When Mrs. Astrafi's report got to the office, it killed the lifeline of this house.
02:27God forbid, sir. We'll work again and bring it back to life.
02:30You're just wasting our time here.
02:32What?
02:33We've been with you so far, but we don't want to anymore.
02:35Have some tea.
02:36Oh, go away.
02:37And it's better that this house...
02:39Look here, Mr. Golami.
02:40I'll get out of my way.
02:41The state of this house is not within your authority at all. Do you hear me?
02:44How come you don't even know that?
02:47The welfare office knows what to do.
02:49Ma'am, the gentleman is right.
02:51Gossip said some nasty words to him you should respect.
02:55That big man should be ashamed of himself.
02:58Raising his hand on an orphan.
03:00And the way he behaves.
03:02People would think that...
03:04I have to say that we're his servants.
03:06What should we do now?
03:08What should we do now?
03:11What should we do with God?
03:12Let's say something made a
03:12Oh, God.
03:13Let's go.
03:14Oh
03:44You can go to sleep if you want to
04:00But personally, I really feel like talking
04:04Even if you don't hear me
04:07It doesn't matter
04:09You know what
04:14The first day when I was commissioned to come here
04:20And work as your supervisor
04:21I wasn't happy at all about it
04:25Because I had to leave my mother and come here to live with you
04:32And I had no idea how I could deal with six boys
04:36Each with their own set of problems
04:38I was counting the days left
04:40I was counting the days to the end of my one year mission when I could go back
04:45Go back to living my own life
04:48But now
04:52A year and eight months later
04:55I'm still here
04:58I don't know how it happened
05:02But before I knew it, I realized
05:05We had all become a family of sorts
05:08This is a manly heart-to-heart talk
05:12No one knows the things I told you
05:14Maybe if you weren't asleep, it wouldn't be so easy for me to say these things
05:19You know
05:21Do you know why I didn't feel like a stranger when I came here to live with you?
05:32Because I've experienced similar conditions in my own life
05:35When the war began
05:41I was younger than you are
05:44At that time, we were living in Tehran
05:47Iraq was bombing different parts of Tehran every day
05:53My mother was pregnant
05:54And she wasn't really feeling very well
05:58That was why my father
06:02He sent us to the north to live
06:04Live with my mother's family
06:06He wanted us to be in a safe place
06:10But he couldn't come with us
06:12Because his work was in Tehran
06:16Some time passed
06:21I was happy because I thought our hard days were finally over
06:27I was also doing really well at school
06:32Then we were in Tehran
06:36I was doing poorly in my lessons
06:38But when we moved here
06:40I was sort of always the top student
06:44One night
06:47We were told that a bomb had fallen right in our yard
06:52My father left us
06:57Alone
07:00When he was asleep
07:06I was so attached to my dad
07:11It took me a long time to come to terms with his loss
07:16To tell you the truth
07:20I still feel like
07:22Like there's nothing that has replaced my father's absence in my own life
07:28But then time went by
07:36When my new sister was born
07:40I saw new rays of hope in my heart
07:46I felt
07:49I was now responsible for my mother and sister
07:52Not just myself
07:53That's why I know how you feel
07:57How you feel about your own sister
08:00Then why did you embarrass me in front of my sister?
08:07You devil
08:08You were awake all the time
08:10I really don't want my sister to worry about me at all
08:15I shoulder a heavy responsibility here, cousin dear
08:21I know what you're saying
08:24I do
08:24But your sister is your legal guardian
08:29She needs to know and understand some issues
08:32Otherwise she'll be upset with us for not telling her the truth
08:35And you should admit that sometimes you don't listen to us
08:39I can't say that I know why
08:43But I know that deep in your heart
08:44You'd never want to be a bad boy
08:46Have you ever thought about
08:49What kind of chaos we'd have here
08:52If I decided to just leave you to yourselves?
08:56Wouldn't I then be accused of
08:58Not being able to take proper care of you all?
09:02If God forbid something happens to one of you
09:05I'll be the first to be devastated
09:07Even if no one comes here to question me
09:10And even if no one bothers me about it
09:12How will I face myself and my own conscience?
09:19Sir, the things you said about your father before
09:21Were those true?
09:24Have I ever lied to you, cousin?
09:26Where's your sister, sir?
09:31She's a university student
09:33God willing, she'll be a doctor three years from now or so
09:37I always miss my sister so badly, sir
09:42I don't know what to do about it
09:44Just patience
09:47I know you may think it's hard to be patient
09:51But everything will be alright
09:54Before you know it, Casandir
09:57Then one day you'll look back at this time
10:00And you'll laugh about all your sorrows
10:02And all of your days of impatience
10:04Sir, you can rest assured
10:06I'm not going to say a word of what you told me to the others
10:09Of course I'm assured
10:13I've got no doubts about that
10:15Okay, let's go out and join the others, okay?
10:20Uncle Roshan's dinner is really great
10:22It's past tonight
10:22I want to eat myself to death
10:24I don't know about you
10:26Come on
10:27Let's go get some of that food
10:30Here you get the white fish of the north
10:51Here the fish is cheap today
11:03Don't call it fish, it's gold, it's gold
11:07Excuse me, sir
11:08Isn't that shop opening today?
11:10No, it's not, son
11:10They're always on a trip for a couple of days
11:12You need something?
11:13So you know Auntie Gilan?
11:15Now how would I know her?
11:16Don't call it fish, it's gold, it's gold
11:21What's that?
11:22She often came to that shop
11:23She's a relative
11:24Caviar fish
11:27Oh boy
11:30Well, I may have seen her
11:32Because you know
11:33I see so many people coming and going here every day
11:36I don't remember all the faces
11:38Caviar fish
11:39The teacher didn't notice your absence
11:52I don't care anymore
11:54I didn't get anything in today's class either
11:56Are you game to run away together?
11:59He's gone nuts again
12:01Relax, my pal, relax
12:03Where can we go if we run away?
12:04We can go to Tehran
12:05There's so much work there
12:07We can find ourselves a job
12:10And we can make enough money to rent a room there
12:12Listen to you
12:13They'll catch us in no time, boy
12:14Forget it
12:15Okay, fine
12:16I only said it for your sake
12:17Otherwise I can go and live with my sister if I want
12:20Yeah, right
12:20Since I've known you
12:21You've always been saying
12:22I'm going to my sister's house
12:24I'm going to my sister's house
12:25Why don't you go if you mean it?
12:37Hello?
12:43Who is this?
12:46I want to talk to my sister
12:48Why are you answering her cell phone?
12:55I said, why are you answering my sister's phone?
12:59Shut your face, you loser
13:01What happened?
13:09Was that your sister?
13:10No, sir
13:10It wasn't her
13:11Kayvon answered her phone
13:13Where was your sister?
13:15At work, of course
13:16I should see her, sir
13:18I can't take this anymore
13:20But you just saw your sister
13:22What are you worried about?
13:24She's just forgotten her phone
13:25If someone forgets his phone, do you answer it?
13:28Let me call her once more, sir
13:30Call where?
13:32The sewing shop
13:33I want to see my sister
13:34Well, go ahead, then
