05:49So Larca is a Belgian Malinois. She's quite big for a female. She actually weighs 29 kilograms. So she is a big, big Belgian Malinois. But she's a very good girl.

07:17Good dogs. Come on. Be brave. Be brave, folks. So after that rain all day, everything feels so flipping fresh. Like even the ground. It feels good to be outside.
07:41And nothing like this. Oh, that's it. We're done. We're done. Just under eight kilometres. I just stopped at the end because I don't know if you can see. But yeah, months like that is gone.
08:05Yeah, months like that is gone. Lots and lots of Belgian Malamas in rescue centres. The rescue centres, a lot of them are so full to the brim that they cannot accept anymore. And it's really important to know that these dogs look amazing when they're trained, but they take up so much of your time, so much of your energy. They're really a true commitment.
08:33You should be quite experienced as well with dogs. Dogs like this have sort of a huge prey drive. So be prepared that these dogs will likely go after the chickens, go after your neighbour's little fluffy poodle.
08:49I mean, not to say that they're aggressive, but they will have avenues where they want to express their breed traits, which are to bite as part of their predatory sequence. They were bred more or less to bite in more recent years.
09:06Originally, they were more used by Belgians to herd sheep and to be livestock guardians. That was many years ago. Now they're guard dogs, protection dogs, bite dogs. So their instinct is to be able to do that as an outlet.
09:23So I just want to make it very, very clear that they're not your usual dog and they're not to be used by somebody who has got the experience and hasn't actually got the outlet.
09:36So you're either probably doing self-protection sport if you've got Virgin Malinois, you've got a lot of land for the dog to guard and also doing lots and lots of training every single day.
09:49And I don't mean just once a day. They're a huge commitment. So please, if you are thinking of getting one, think twice. Think about perhaps a different dog that's going to suit your needs.
10:00And just enjoy watching videos with people who do lots of sleep with a Belgian Malinois. So that's how I suggest the best way to enjoy a Belgian Malinois.
