The decision on whether Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin's parents, Zaim Ikhwan Zahari and Ismanira Abdul Manaf, will be called to defend themselves or acquitted by the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court on charges of neglecting the six-year-old autistic child to the point of causing physical harm to him, will be known on Monday (July 21). 00:28If the court decides that the prosecution has succeeded in proving a prima facie case

00:33against Ismaneera and Zaim Ikhwan,

00:35then they will be called to defend themselves,

00:38while if not, the two accused will be released and acquitted of the charges.

00:42On April 24, the prosecution closed the case

00:46after calling 28 prosecution witnesses throughout the 20-day trial,

00:51which began on February 4.

00:53Zaim Ikhwan and Ismaneera were charged with neglecting Zain Rayyan,

00:57in a manner likely to cause physical harm to the victim,

01:01in the vicinity of Block R,

01:02Aydaman apartment, Damansara Damai,

01:05up to the nearby river area between 12 noon on December 5

01:09and 9.55 pm on December 6, 2023.

01:13Six-year-old Zain Rayyan was reported missing on December 5, 2023,

01:19and his body was found the next day in a stream near his house.
