00:00When the King of the Monsters is in need of aid, he can look to the air.
00:04Here's a look at the Star Race Godzilla X-Kong The New Empire Titans Rising Mothra Soft Vinyl Figure.
00:21Elevate your collection with the stunning Star Race Mothra Soft Vinyl Figure,
00:25inspired by the popular 2024 film Godzilla X-Kong The New Empire.
00:29This meticulously crafted statue captures the essence of Mothra,
00:33showcasing her vibrant, colorful wings that shimmer with iridescent detail.
00:37Standing at a press of 32 centimeters tall and boasting a wingspan of 47 centimeters,
00:43Mothra gracefully hovers over an intricately designed pyramid base,
00:47bringing a touch of cinematic magic to your display.
00:50One of the nicest looks we've had for Titanus Masora.
00:53If you'd like to get your hands, though, on the Godzilla X-Kong The New Empire Vinyl Figure of Mothra,
00:57just know that she's dropping the third quarter of 2025.
01:00Like before, when we looked at the Mechagodzilla, there's actually going to be two versions of her.
01:04A normal, non-illuminated version that's going to be selling for $219.99,
01:09or if you prefer to have the pyramids light up,
01:11then that one's going to be selling for $229.99, so a difference of $10 there.
01:16I'd like to, again, thank the folks over at Star Race that did provide this sample.
01:20There's a little bit of assembly that's required.
01:22More importantly, you have to attach on Mothra's wings.
01:24You have to then attach Mothra onto the display stand,
01:26and then you have to attach the display stand to the base.
01:29Maybe not that order.
01:30Once it's fully assembled, though, I'm going to take my tape measure here,
01:33and let's measure just how tall Mothra stands.
01:36I guess probably the best thing to do is measure to the very top of her wing,
01:39so let's just bring her over just a little bit so I can reach it.
01:42Right to the top of the wings I go, you're looking at Mothra being 12 inches.
01:46That's pretty tall.
01:47That's going to work out to be a 30 centimeters tall statue.
01:50If you're looking at just Mothra's wingspan alone, not the hook around her legs,
01:55from one end of the wing to the other, Mothra's wingspan is 17 inches,
02:00or roughly about 44 centimeters long.
02:03Before we get down to looking at installing things,
02:05we look at the other things that come in clear with Mothra.
02:08Like, for example, the figure does come in clear with a two-sheet instruction booklet.
02:11Now, I pose this question to you.
02:13Would it still be an instruction booklet if the pages aren't technically attached?
02:15The normal and the deluxe, the first sheet won't change really at all.
02:20The same steps are included to attach Mothra onto her display base.
02:24Now, the one that was provided to me by Star Race happens to be the normal version.
02:28And yet, though, the second sheet is more breaking down the basics of what you have to do with the deluxe.
02:32The back of the abdomen for Mothra, you have to open and remove the battery cover.
02:37Then you have to install the crucial button cell battery CR927.
02:41It does also come in clear with a magnet piece that actually looks like a player token from Trouble.
02:46And then you touch that to the side of Mothra's face, and it illuminates the eyes.
02:51It's funny that this is all kind of mentioned,
02:53because I noticed, though, that the battery compartment is still present on the standard version.
02:58I don't know. It probably doesn't light up, though.
03:00So, you would, though, also have the option to have a portable charger.
03:03Now, that's something that's sold separately.
03:05With the normal version, though, you still have the option of the illumination on the display base.
03:10So, whether you get the normal or you get the deluxe, this area is still going to stay the same.
03:14At least, I'm basing it from mine.
03:16So, let's move the sheets off to the side here.
03:18You also get, of course, yourself the cable.
03:20Now, the cable is going to be something, unfortunately, meaning that it's not a universal one.
03:24You can't just use one that you've got around the house.
03:27It was a lot easier with Mechagodzilla, for example,
03:29because it was using USB-C, if I didn't really like the length of the cord.
03:33And actually, you know, to be fair, that's, what, like three and a half feet long?
03:36That's still pretty long.
03:38Still easy enough that I can reach my USB cable right over here.
03:41I'm just off to the side here.
03:43Now, actually, when we looked at the Mechagodzilla,
03:45I chose to use a longer cable just with the worry that I didn't think it was going to reach.
03:49But I think I'm still going to be able to reach this fine.
03:51The only downside to using a cord like this,
03:54if you have plans, for example, where, like, your power supply is over here,
03:57but you're looking to display Mothra way over there,
04:01you may have to try to look to getting, like, a USB hub, for example,
04:04that has a little length to it.
04:05A lot of times now, you can get yourself also outlet bars, power bars,
04:09that's going to have USB ports on there as well.
04:11So, I mean, that's got enough length of it already.
04:14And then you add on to that the length of this cable.
04:16I think you should probably be okay, though.
04:18This is going to plug onto the, well, in this case, it's actually on the side,
04:21just the way I've got this configured right now.
04:23You could also, I'm sure, twist this around so it's facing the back,
04:26so you don't actually see the hole.
04:28I'm going to plug this in in a second.
04:30Now, the one that was provided to me is SA6058.
04:34The 5.9 is the deluxe version,
04:36but what's interesting, though, about the standard version,
04:38it seems to still have the makings of what would be a power supply built into her body.
04:43I don't think she illuminates.
04:44She didn't also come and include the little magnet piece,
04:46so I wouldn't be able to turn her on and off.
04:49However, though, let's go ahead and get everything broken down,
04:51get to the basics of Mothra.
04:53She comes basically on top of a display base that has to be assembled.
04:56So I'll just put her off to the side here for a second.
04:59You get yourself this display base with all these formed pyramid crystals.
05:03Very, very cool.
05:05These all will illuminate.
05:06Of course, once you plug everything in,
05:07you plug the cable on the side,
05:09you plug it into the USB port,
05:10you're good to go.
05:11Now, these, there's a little bit smaller ones.
05:13These won't illuminate.
05:14It's only really these two that will.
05:16You get yourself as well a neck piece,
05:18and the neck is actually adjustable.
05:20So just take that off for a second.
05:21Again, this does have some flexibility for it.
05:24And basically all it is,
05:25is just you're going to take this part,
05:26and you're going to screw it into the hole in the middle.
05:30Now, I didn't think that,
05:31I thought the cords would maybe be a little too tight,
05:33that it would be hard to twist this in place,
05:35but I never had any real issues at all.
05:38If you're looking at also the top of this,
05:39where this plugs into Mothra,
05:41there is a specific way it has to align to her body.
05:44So when you take Mothra, for example,
05:46if you just follow the contours,
05:48don't put it in this way, for example,
05:49it has to work on an angle.
05:51But if you line everything up,
05:52where now this is going to run
05:53against the bottom of her belly,
05:55everything should fit in fine,
05:57and then you just basically attach her into that hole.
05:59So there's the hole right there,
06:00and we just line everything up.
06:03And if everything is good to go,
06:05I don't know why I'm doing it in such an angle like this,
06:07if everything is good to go,
06:09you just plug her onto the body,
06:10you just plug her onto the display base,
06:12I should say.
06:14Just like that.
06:15There you go.
06:15Now, I mean, it does lose a little of the illusion,
06:19the fact that this has to be black,
06:20but in order for this to adjust,
06:22I think it would be a little harder to do
06:23in clear plastic.
06:25The other thing that has to be included
06:26for assembly is to attach her wings.
06:29Now, just before we actually attach Mothra's wings,
06:31the part I did want to show you, though,
06:33is the back of her abdomen area.
06:35So this does remove...
06:38Kind of have to wiggle it back and forth here.
06:40There we go.
06:42And there's the battery.
06:42Now, for all intents and purposes,
06:44you should be able to fit yourself
06:46the button cell battery in there.
06:47But I have a feeling, though,
06:49with the normal version,
06:50they built Mothra the exact same way
06:52with both releases.
06:53Sure, you could probably put in the battery there,
06:56but I don't think anything would really illuminate.
06:58You're probably asking yourself the question,
06:59have you done that?
07:00Well, I tried to use the battery,
07:02and I couldn't get anything to work.
07:04Now, a lot maybe has to do with also the fact
07:06that there's no magnet.
07:07But I have a feeling, though,
07:08if you just used a regular magnet anyways,
07:11I don't think her eyes would ever really light up.
07:13So it does look like you're in basically the same Mothra,
07:16just without the functions of light-up options.
07:19Now, you're just going to plug that back in place.
07:20As I already mentioned, though,
07:22the wings do have to be attached.
07:23The wings were one thing, though,
07:25that I found getting them...
07:26Well, first of all,
07:27they're in a package tray separately.
07:30And then when you line them up,
07:31obviously you're going to have them facing only one way.
07:33So you get these eyes.
07:35I always thought they kind of look like tiger's eyes.
07:38Beautiful-looking wings.
07:39Because basically you're just going to take
07:40this little ledge piece of plastic
07:42and you just fit it into the slot.
07:44The first couple of times you do this,
07:46you're going to find it's a little hard.
07:47You kind of have to twist it back and forth.
07:49I'm sure, though,
07:50once you get everything in place,
07:51you're not likely going to be taking the wings off.
07:53But seeing that I was reviewing this,
07:55I took the wings off a couple of times,
07:56just, you know,
07:56kind of moving things around.
07:58That the third and maybe fourth time,
08:00the wings were super easy to put in place.
08:03And yeah,
08:03you get yourself quite the nice wingspan.
08:05Just gorgeous-looking wings, though.
08:07How intricately painted these are.
08:10Again, I looked at this,
08:11I always kind of thought that these look like tiger's eyes.
08:13And they look just as good on the top
08:15as they do from the bottom.
08:17Now, Mothra, though,
08:18you get a little larger of a Mothra.
08:20Now, we have looked at Mothras on this channel before.
08:24Never really, I think, this size.
08:25Still packing some decent posability, too.
08:28Doesn't look like you can really do much,
08:30really, with the middle legs.
08:31However, though,
08:32you can move the front legs back and forth.
08:34They actually look like they're in ball joints.
08:36So, without ball joints,
08:38you get the flexibility of being able to know
08:39that you can move the legs out,
08:41you can move them forward and back.
08:42You can also do that with the back legs, too.
08:44I did notice, though,
08:45that one of the legs,
08:46maybe it's this one right here,
08:47when I was kind of moving the legs around,
08:49every once in a while,
08:50they do pop out.
08:51But being that they are just using
08:53universal ball joints anyways,
08:54I mean, just plugging them back in place
08:55is still super easy.
08:57Tons of paint,
08:58tons of detail went into Mothra.
09:00Not only just with the head alone,
09:02but again,
09:02like with all the extra paint
09:04that they added to the wings.
09:05It's a glorious,
09:06glorious looking Mothra.
09:08It'd be a really hard figure, too,
09:10to display just on its own.
09:11So, obviously,
09:12you're going to make use of the display stand.
09:13The display stand on its own
09:15does illuminate.
09:16So, let's go ahead
09:17and just take ourselves the plug.
09:18I'm going to have to reach down here
09:19and just grab the plug
09:20that I've got down below here.
09:22Plug in one end.
09:25There we go.
09:26You never really can get a USB
09:27plugged in the right way
09:28the first time.
09:28And then we're just going to
09:30take ourselves the other end
09:31and plug it in place.
09:32Now, the moment it makes connectivity,
09:34you'll see it illuminates.
09:36Not only does it illuminate first in pink,
09:37but then it cycles through different colors.
09:40So, you get ourselves green,
09:41then it changes to a nice blue,
09:44then it changes to a purple,
09:46and then it changes back to a pink.
09:48I love that.
09:49Now, there isn't a setting at all
09:51to switch it
09:52where it will only just illuminate one color.
09:54Likely, though,
09:55if you're probably going to want
09:56to have this thing illuminating anyways,
09:58it's not going to bother you much at all
09:59that this thing's going to change
10:00and cycle through four different colors.
10:03It doesn't change at all
10:04whether you have Mothra attached
10:05onto the display base.
10:07Even if you leave her off,
10:08the display base is still going to illuminate
10:09no matter what.
10:11Again, if we want to take ourselves Mothra,
10:12I'm just going to unplug this right now.
10:14Mothra, just lining up everything
10:16for the shapes.
10:17It's all about the shapes.
10:19So, basically, when you put her on,
10:21you want to make sure
10:22that she's going down straight
10:23or more on an angle.
10:24You don't want to put her this way
10:25because you want to make sure
10:26that the abdomen lines up
10:28to the contour of the display base
10:30and just plug it in place like that.
10:32Then take yourself the plug again.
10:34I should have had this
10:35a little bit more available.
10:36And then we're just going to plug it in.
10:39Now, this may be a difficult thing
10:40to pull off
10:41when it comes to putting her
10:42on the rotisserie
10:43at the end of this review.
10:44Just that, obviously,
10:45things are going to be turning around
10:46and the cord's going to get hung up.
10:48But if you have this
10:49always on a fixed place,
10:51always on your shelf,
10:52always on display,
10:52it makes for a rather
10:54interesting-looking sight.
10:55I actually do actually like, too,
10:57that it illuminates
10:58and cycles through colors.
11:00It's not just a case
11:01where it turns on
11:01and stays on in that color.
11:03Cycling and changing
11:04four different colors,
11:06there's always something
11:07that you're looking at.
11:08And even though
11:09this isn't the deluxe version
11:10where the eyes
11:11would also light up, too,
11:13having this, though,
11:14in a low-lit room,
11:16I'm not going to cut the lights
11:17just because, again,
11:17the coloring of the pyramids
11:19are really the only thing
11:20it's going to illuminate.
11:20But you would imagine, though,
11:22in a low-lit room,
11:23how that would also illuminate
11:24the undercarriage
11:25or the undersections
11:26of her wings.
11:27It's a glorious-looking Mothra.
11:30If you're a fan, though,
11:31of Godzilla's Mothra,
11:32I mean, I don't think
11:33we've had a better example
11:34than this.
11:35I'm surprised, really,
11:36that it also still has
11:37the amount of posability
11:38that she's packing.
11:40Yes, the wings don't move.
11:41I don't really feel like
11:42the wings needed to move anyways.
11:43Once you've got them
11:44plugged in place,
11:45how'd you put a hinge there anyways?
11:47With the size of the wingspan
11:48and the amount of plastic material
11:49that went into making them,
11:51I think it would only make
11:52for top-heavy wings
11:53that would eventually
11:53start to droop.
11:54These are plugged securely
11:56in place.
11:56They're not going anywhere.
11:57If you did want to move things,
11:58obviously, you always have
11:59the option of moving
12:00the fronts and the backs
12:01of her legs.
12:02So there is a little bit
12:03of posability.
12:04So in that sense,
12:05she does live up to the word
12:06being called a figure.
12:08But certainly,
12:09from a showpiece,
12:10visually stunning.
12:12Something that also,
12:13like, even if she doesn't have
12:14the deluxe feature options
12:15where the eyes don't illuminate,
12:17I'm not bothered at all by that.
12:19What I'm really getting instead
12:20is a showpiece,
12:21a statue on the shelf
12:22that's not going to only
12:23just draw your attention
12:24to fans of the Godzilla films,
12:26but any fans of collectibles
12:28are going to spot
12:29this Mothra right away.
12:30I did try to keep
12:31the cable plugged in
12:32so Mothra would keep
12:33illuminating while she was rotating.
12:35Then it only really worked
12:36for a few spins
12:37before I realized
12:37that things were getting
12:38a little tight.
12:39So unfortunately,
12:40having to leave it off
12:41right now.
12:41Now, you could always go
12:43and use a portable battery,
12:45for example.
12:45A charger is sold separately
12:47by Starry's,
12:48but it's not to say, though,
12:49that you couldn't use
12:50an external battery
12:51that you usually use
12:52to charge your phone,
12:53because it really works
12:54the same way.
12:55The thing I'm sure
12:56you'd have to be careful of
12:57is controlling
12:58the amount of wattage,
12:59the power that's going
13:00to Mothra.
13:01You would keep it, though,
13:02on a low setting.
13:03So, like, for example,
13:04there's, like, I think,
13:05usually a 2V and a 5V option
13:07on your external batteries.
13:08You would want to keep
13:09the low charge,
13:10because I think anything
13:11higher than that
13:12could run the risk
13:13of damaging the light source.
13:15Speaking of the light source,
13:16though, for Mothra,
13:17while this, though,
13:18isn't the deluxe version,
13:19the deluxe version
13:20is the one that's going
13:21to have the illumination
13:22on the eyes.
13:23It's interesting, though,
13:24that she still has
13:25that feature plugged
13:26on her back of her body,
13:27but it's not something,
13:28though, that even putting
13:29in a battery,
13:30I couldn't get it to work.
13:32Now, you're probably
13:32already asking,
13:33well, couldn't you
13:33have just used the magnet?
13:35I did also use
13:35a fridge magnet.
13:36I'm kind of just finding
13:38the tools that I had
13:39around the house.
13:40Using, though,
13:40even a fridge magnet
13:41didn't do the job
13:43of illuminating her eyes.
13:44So it seems like
13:45even though it's built
13:46into both Mothras,
13:47it's only really
13:48the deluxe version
13:49that's going to have
13:50the wiring in her body.
13:51Still, though,
13:52if you guys are interested
13:53to get either one of these,
13:55Mothra is slated to drop
13:57actually the third quarter
13:58of 2025.
13:59The difference, again,
14:01prices between the two,
14:02the standard version
14:03or the normal version
14:04that we looked in this review,
14:05is going to sell
14:06for $219.99,
14:08whereas then to spend
14:09$10 more,
14:10you can get the deluxe version
14:12releasing around
14:13that same time
14:14for $229.99.
14:15So a difference of $10
14:17gives you then
14:19whether you want to have
14:20illumination in Mothra's eyes
14:21or you're fine
14:22just to have the crystals.
14:23Either way, though,
14:24I'd like to thank
14:25the folks over at Star Race
14:26that did provide this sample
14:27of the brand new
14:28upcoming release,
14:29Godzilla X-Kong
14:30The New Empire Mothra,
14:32that we had the chance
14:33to have a look
14:34in this review.
14:34One of the best Mothras
14:35we've gotten
14:36in a collectible figure,
14:37you be the judge.
14:38What do you guys think of this?
14:39Let me know.
14:40If you guys also
14:41did enjoy this video,
14:42you can, of course,
14:43do the solid
14:43of hitting it with a like.
14:44You guys want to stick around
14:45for more so?
14:46Yeah, I hope so.
14:48By the way, though,
14:49if you guys still need
14:49your fix for Star Race,
14:51because there's been
14:51quite a lot of territory
14:52I've covered for the company
14:53over the years,
14:54at the very end of this video,
14:55shamelessly plugging a playlist,
14:57there will be a playlist
14:58showing up
14:59of all the things
15:00for Star Race
15:00they've done over the years.
15:01Feel free to give that a watch
15:02if you have a little bit
15:03of time on your hands,
15:04or in this case, your wings.
15:06As always, guys,
15:07thanks for watching.
15:08See you guys next time.
