00:16three games the problem is george you know out of the six teams that are playing that day

00:23three of them didn't even make the playoffs last year out of the six you've got the banner raising

00:29in florida against chicago who stunk uh a year ago i mean like that's gotta be george i don't you gotta

00:36have the stanley cup champs either you know bring boston in with the marchand angle bring tampa in

00:42from the rivalry angle bring somebody else uh that even i know bedard is they're trying in their

00:48hardest even though he seems a little you know uh not he's he's a little grumpy uh in chicago that

00:54kid maybe because the team sucks but i don't need the blackhawks on opening night the first game of

00:59the year and the banner raising and then you have the rangers penguins neither team made the playoffs

01:02last year it's the rangers and the penguins i understand that i'm gonna try sell the sullivan

01:07thing go ahead and do it and then avalanche kings all right at least they both were in the playoffs

02:10to feature at opening night you know once again get one of your better teams in there but i get it

02:15it's mckenna and so of course it's the rangers original six blah blah blah so i guess i understand

02:19that but i i 1000 agree with you i would this this is not i don't be able to schedule any of these

02:24three teams i'll have to be the opening night trio yeah uh now grievance number two george and you kind

02:30of hinted at it before they do an awful job like they there's only so much juice that they can get

02:36with some of these things and i get it you're talking marner toronto maybe most uh fans in america

02:42aren't gonna exactly tune in for that whenever that happens i think that the the diehard hockey

02:47fan would let's bury that on a friday night in late january the first time marner is going to return to

02:54toronto friday january 23rd uh for the first time i mean taves to chicago whatever taves hasn't played

03:00in years uh marchand to boston is a big one a tuesday night fairly early in the season october the 21st

03:08i don't think they do a good enough job george with uh kind of highlighting that stuff like that

03:12marner going back to toronto is going to be a big deal that night when vegas comes there and by the

03:18time january rolls around and they've played 55 60 games george guess what nobody's gonna like it's

03:24oh yeah marner again oh that's right that's a game that needs to be in october uh marner going back to

03:29toronto see i 1000 agree this is the nhl not football not everyone's gonna be like oh the nhl

03:38opens tonight what is happening well that week of october the major league playoffs are happening

03:42so that's gonna be big news we're gonna be about nfl week five or week four so you know that's huge

03:48news you want to steal as much of publicity as you can having marner i'm gonna be talking about

03:53marner going back and in toronto where they can't even we should be in toronto everyone we talk about

03:57march on going back to play boston those should be your opening night games people would be talking

04:03about that you know because oh all right i want to i want to see if the fans are going to boo

04:07marshall they're going to cheer him how they're going to react here we know the fans in toronto

04:11probably going to boo uh mitch marner that's what they do so even i'd want to see the uh the pre-game

04:15reaction to all that that's the pub that's how you build up the season here instead it's going to

04:20be like another ho-hum and let's face it they're probably going to schedule it during game one of

04:23the wild card round of the um mlb playoffs and they're going to lose publicity that way as well

04:28the hl season by the way should start a week earlier than it does to avoid opening the mlb playoffs
