01:11Hello and welcome to From the South.
01:12I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
01:15We begin with the news.
01:28And just a few moments ago, the Bolivarian government has informed of having achieved the liberation
01:34of the 252 Venezuelan citizens who remained kidnapped in El Salvador.
01:39The Venezuelans had been illegally detained in the second prison center in El Salvador,
01:44internationally denounced as a concentration camp.
01:47The first confirmed president in Colorado was willing to pay the high price of handing over
01:54U.S. citizens who were currently being investigated by the justice system in order to secure life
01:59and safety of its nationals. As part of the negotiations, the government also offered alternatives
02:05other than prison to Venezuelan nationals who had committed crimes against the constitutional
02:10order. In this way, Venezuela assures to continue its work for the Venezuelan people.
02:16The Venezuelan government rescued 252 nationals kidnapped in the United States as part of President
02:28Nicolás Maduro back to the Homeland Plan. Flight number 45 arrived in the state of La Guayra
02:34with 251 Venezuelan citizens, among them seven children who had been kidnapped from the
02:41government of the United States. Upon their arrival, they were received by the Minister of
02:46Interior Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, who celebrated their return and also emphasized
02:51that none of these migrants had any legal charges that would allow them to be lawfully detained
02:57in the United States.
03:07And in this context, in the José Martí Square in Chacahito, in Caracas, the people mobilized
03:13to demand the return of the Venezuelan children kidnapped in the United States. During the
03:18Great March, the relatives, mothers and fathers of the Venezuelan migrants kidnapped in El Salvador
03:24expressed their gratitude to the national government and to the whole nation for their efforts and
03:29dedication in achieving the return of their countrymen. In addition, the head of government
03:34of Caracas, Nahum Fernández, also advocated for the freedom of the children kidnapped in the U.S.
03:48In this context, the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro received seven migrants of Venezuelan
03:53children who were rescued by the government, who were rescued by the government, planned return
03:58to the homeland after being kidnapped in the U.S. and separated from their families. The children were
04:04received at the Miraflores Palace as Venezuela vows to continue its demand for the safe return of all
04:10children that remained kidnapped abroad.
04:13In other information, in Panama, the National Union of Construction Workers and Similar Industry
04:28Soundtracks rejected the lawsuit filed by the Panamanian Minister of Labor and Workforce Development,
04:34Jacqueline Muñoz, to dissolve the trade union. The Minister accused Soundtracks of alleged irregularities
04:40against workers' sake. In this regard, the lawyer of the union, Antonio Vargas, said
04:46to tell a sewer that Soundtracks had not managed to access the complaint. However, the attorney
04:51stressed that the suit must go through the due process in judicial body. In all, Soundtracks
04:56has been a victim of political persecution by the Molina Administration due to the leadership
05:02of the union in the rallies against law 462 of the Social Security Fund.
05:10We are going to defend our trade union. It is not as easy as she said that the union be dissolved.
05:21And she thinks that this can be solved by the blink of an eye. She knows that for this dissolution to happen,
05:27a very long process has to take place. And workers are going to fight because the construction workers
05:33who daily make their efforts at the projects. They are aware that the union has historically defended them.
05:39It has represented them before the employer's abuses. And these abuses often occur in complicity with the officials
05:46of the Ministry of Labor. This is a great truth. And the minister does not recognize it.
05:51Argentinian workers from the Garrahan Hospital mobilized this Thursday to protest against the working conditions
06:00to which they are subjected by the government of Javier Milei as well as for a salary increase.
06:06In view of the impossibility of the government of Javier Milei to provide them with guarantees when the conflict started a month ago,
06:13the collective marches from the Congress of the Nation to Plaza de Mayo were accompanied by several trade unions,
06:19social and feminist organizations among many others. In fact, over 90 organizations
06:25in the defense of Garrahan. For her part, the General Secretary of the Association of Professionals and Technicians,
06:32Norma Lezana, said that the hospital belongs to the children and Garrahan is not to be touched,
06:38while demonstrators highlighted the importance of standing by the institution.
06:50And we go to Chile where social movements rally for demanding the transfer to a hospital
06:54of prisoner Mauricio Hernández Norambuena, known as Commander Ramiro, after having registered several health
07:01serious problems in the past weeks. The protest was held in front of the Santiago prison
07:06to denounce that the commander was being tortured and deprived of medical attention in the penitenciary center.
07:13It is important to highlight that 67-year-old Mauricio Hernández Norambuena
07:18has been serving a 26-year sentence since 2019, who was convicted for participating in the association
07:27attempt against dictator Augusta Pinochet in 1986, among other allegations.
07:33It has been difficult this last month. It has not been easy. He still doesn't have a diagnosis after a month.
07:46And a diagnosis that interests us. Basically he has spent 20 years in prison. He was in Brazil under torture.
07:56He has been tortured, all his life, he has spent more of his lifetime in prison.
08:03Today the government does not give him the chance to be transferred to a specialist hospital.
08:09The government just sent him to a low-quality hospital,
08:13in which he cannot be diagnosed properly. And that's a basic human right, any human being must have.
08:26This is a by-product of the false democracy Chile is living through right now.
08:30THRE is no good and evil. We only see evil in our reality.
08:36That is what prevails in this country the capitalist system. And Ramiro's case is the best example of this society
08:43due to the far-right entrepreneurs will never release Ramiro, but we still want to fight.
08:48That is why, we want to get his freedom because we believe in him because we owe him the dignity Chileans accomplish at some point.
08:55We owe him and other comrades this country, and we think it is urgent today that Ramiro be taken to a hospital to save his life.
