00:00Josh Hoover from TCU is a kid that I like quite a bit, Joe.
00:05I don't love the frame.
00:06He's listed 6'2", 200.
00:08He's probably like 6'1", 198, 200 pounds right now.
00:11But he's still a kid that has multiple years of eligibility.
00:15He can come out in 2025, 2026, excuse me, if he would like.
00:19But he does have two years of eligibility left.
00:22I'm just enamored with the arm talent here, man.
00:25I mean, Joe, here's my preconceived notion of him.
00:28And I saw a little bit of him in 2023 at the end of the year.
00:31They kind of had a quarterback, a weird room, and he ended up starting down the stretch.
00:35I had a worry that he was just going to be this really gamer spread quarterback,
00:43college quarterback, right, where it's just like doesn't have tools,
00:46but he's in a cool system, and he's a fun college quarterback.
00:48That's kind of what I thought he was going to be.
00:50But then I watched him.
00:51I'm like, oh, buddy, this kid's got a live arm, man.
00:56The ball comes out quick.
00:57The ball comes out from multiple angles.
00:59He can throw from compromised platforms and still generate velocity.
01:03And he's a pretty cool athlete, too, man.
01:05Like, he's not a runner.
01:06If you look at his rushing stats, you won't see it.
01:08But, like, he can extend the pocket.
01:10He can extend up into the pocket, extend the pocket out.
01:14Like, he is a really cool improviser of a player.
01:17There are some doofus moments, which there should be for a guy that really only started for one true year.
01:24He started a little bit in 2023, but 2024 was his year as a first-time full-year starter.
01:29So there's some moments where you're like, okay, that's a really bad decision.
01:32Like, don't do that again.
01:32But there's also moments where Fulfill Reed, coming back backside, like, there's moments of really good processing as well.
01:41So he might, again, might be a 2027 kid, but I really like the tools, man.
01:45And I think there's legit upside with Josh Hoover.
01:48Every year that we have, like, this, we always like to have the conversation of, like, who can be the big riser?
01:55I already hear the question of, like, who could be this year's Cam Ward?
02:00Not to the degree of, like, who jumps to being a first overall pick, but, like, who is not really nationally in the conversation that could gradually rise into becoming a first-rounder?
02:10And Josh Hoover is one of those guys that I would immediately answer that question with.
02:16I was just so happy with the way that he was able to impact the game on so many different levels.
02:25On the run was where I was the most impressed.
02:27Like, he does not lose any accuracy or any velocity when he's running.
02:32He is somebody who, it may be like, they don't really do this at TCU, but, like, in a play-action-based offense where you got him on the run, you got him rolling out.
02:40I would feel pretty strongly in an NFL system that he would be able to figure that stuff out.
02:44And I thought that the decision-making, as you said, he's got some doofus moments, but there were also instances where, like, I thought that his decision-making was great because he was decisive, the ball was getting out quick, he showed pretty good poise under pressure.
02:56I always keep coming back to him.
02:59The thing that's, like, repetitive as hell when I talk about quarterbacks and I'm going to talk about today, I want to watch a guy and feel like he's natural.
03:06Like, he might not be perfect.
03:07He might not go out there and go 25 of 30 and throw for four touchdowns and 300 yards.
03:13It's just not realistic at the college level, even in the best offenses with the best receivers.
03:17But if the plays that he does make are natural and they're big plays and the offense is just charging down the field because he knows how to keep the rhythm going, those are the players that I put a little mark next to.
03:30That is something that is almost not really describable, but when you see it, you see it.
