00:00Hold on tight, because we're diving into the most powerful hurricanes in Atlantic history.
00:05From devastating winds to record-shattering pressure, these storms made history in unforgettable ways.
00:11First up is Hurricane Wilma in 2005.
00:14With a jaw-dropping pressure of just 882 millibars, Wilma holds the Atlantic record.
00:20It even had the tiniest eye ever recorded, just 2.3 miles wide.
00:25Next is Hurricane Gilbert, from 1988, dropping to 888 millibars,
00:32and the infamous 1935 Labor Day hurricane at 892 millibars, still the strongest U.S. landfall ever.
00:40Its 185 mph winds and 20-foot storm surge left over 400 dead in the Florida Keys.
00:47Only six Atlantic storms have ever dipped below 900 millibars.
00:51An elite group, including Hurricane Milton, which joined in 2024 with a pressure of 897 millibars and winds of 180 miles per hour.
01:02But the fastest?
01:03That title goes to Hurricane Allen in 1980 with 190 miles per hour sustained winds, still unbeaten in the Atlantic.
01:12Globally, though, Super Typhoon Tip and Hurricane Patricia stole the spotlight.
01:16Tip hit 870 millibars, and Patricia, a terrifying 215 mph wind speed.
01:24Nature's fury has never been more intense or more unforgettable.
