A group of PKR Youth leaders gathered outside the US embassy on Friday (July 18) in protest against the nomination of American far-right political commentator Nick Adams as the US ambassador to Malaysia.
The protesters then handed over an official memorandum as a protest towards Adams’ nomination.
00:00They have been given a commitment to convey the message to U.S. government regarding our demand, especially from you, political party and you, the anti-war, especially Malaysian citizens.
00:19In his video, we have really thanked the President Trump, have appointed him as a become a ambassador. Like I said, this is a promulgative of a President Trump. But as a Malaysian and our promulgative, also we have a reason to reject him because we have the power under Geneva for the Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
00:40So, we have the government. So, of course, this is part of our job to send the message to the U.S. government and also we do convey the message to Malaysian government.
00:50Even though we are part of a political party in the government, we do have a message to the government also to consider to reject a person whose name is Nick Adamo.
00:59And one of the biggest things we have to say is that he is not a professional in the sense of diplomatic, he is not a strong or strong position to be diplomatic, and he is not a person who is suitable to send the U.S. government as a former member of the United States to Malaysia.
01:20What we do, what we are doing here is a start to deliver a message loud and clear, not just in Malaysia, not just in the region, but to the world.
01:31That we reject the nomination and any confirmation of Nick Adams. We call on everyone involved in the process to think of the consequences, to think, to consider how is it, what's the consequences if a person of such character like Nick Adamo,
01:50or lack thereof, becomes the ambassador of U.S. to Malaysia.
