00:13So an all important fight here between numbers 4 and 14 in the world with the WBO at super
00:20featherweight.
00:21Liam Wilson, a renowned puncher, that left hook in particular, but he will have to go
00:27and find Edson Jimenez, who uses the entire ring and boxes at his own speed, so this is
00:36a contrast of styles, but Michael Zarafa, it is always entertaining when Liam Wilson is
00:43at centre ring.
00:44I'm a huge fan of Wilson, I mean, he's always in hard fights, he's entertaining, I mean,
00:50he's patient, he boxes, he's got it all, I mean, you know, I'm excited for what's after
00:55this, I think he gets through this.
00:56I mean, it's a tough, tough fight in the opponent in front of him, because he's, you
01:00know, this guy, Liam Wilson's a world title fight for him if he can beat this guy, you
01:04know.
01:05So, I'm excited.
01:06I'm excited for this fight.
01:07It is a good matchup.
01:08As I mentioned, Jimenez, just looking at his previous fights, he really does move, he uses
01:13the whole ring, he's on his bike at times and he makes you come towards him.
01:18So, Liam Wilson is going to need to cut off the ring on him and try and pour in that pressure,
01:23which we know he possesses.
01:25And in the early stages, it is Wilson just inching forward and certainly looking the bigger
01:33man in this ring as well.
01:35So, Liam Wilson really has filled out after those couple of fights at lightweight Wilson,
01:43now back at Superfeather and looking huge for the weight against a man nicknamed Pac-Man.
01:51And Jimenez, who does look calm and composed.
02:00Jimenez looks nice and relaxed.
02:01I mean, they're just feeling each other out the first round, but I mean, he just, yeah,
02:04super composed.
02:05But Wilson, yeah, he just, he looks so big in there.
02:09He looks massive.
02:10He looks huge.
02:11And he's using that jab.
02:12He's got long arms.
02:13I think he's just got to stay relaxed and composed and, you know, pick the shots.
02:16Not, you know, every fight's a war with Wilson, I think he needs to go back to his boxing
02:19smarts because he's a, he's a great fighter.
02:22We've seen him do the weight really tough at times as well, Liam Wilson, but he seemed
02:27to do it relatively well this time around.
02:31Weighing in a couple of kilos, two and a half kilos less than last time out, but he just
02:38looks massive at center ring here tonight against Jimenez, who is using that lateral movement
02:46and he will do that all night.
02:52There's a body shot from Wilson.
02:53Jimenez came straight back over the top as well.

02:59You know, like he's, he's super calm in there.
03:02I mean, if he had, if he had the longer arms and the size of, of Wilson would probably be

03:11Wilson just presses forward gradually towards him.
03:19Liam, when he jabs, I've noticed, you know, every time he jabs, he pulls back the baron
03:24arrows, that right hand, you know, which can be dangerous if, like the Pac-Man just did
03:28now, and throws that left hook.
03:29And he's got to keep that right hand up when he jabs.
03:31Jet ball.
03:32So, an interesting opening round down there, Wilson just trying to work out what is in
03:38front of him.
03:39And the tricky Jimenez from Argentina.
03:42How's his speed?
03:47So, he comes off that movement with a jab to the body and then the hook to the head.
03:53Open the space with your feet, or, when you're ready, you hold your, you time him onto that,
03:59okay?
04:00As he wants that jab to the body, you can tend it, but just stay...
04:03No, you don't need to do it yet.
04:05I'm just saying, when he does throw that jab to the body, you can time that.

04:10When you get him to that rope, cut him up a little bit more as the rounds go on.
04:14And when we do stop him, just work off that post.
04:16You work off that post, it's a light work.
04:18You can aim through his chest as well as he's moving left to right.
04:20So, this one is all about cutting off the ring for Liam Wilson.
04:27Michael Zarapa, just explain to our viewers what that is and what you do to cut off the
04:33ring on an opponent like Jimenez.
04:34Well, yeah, Jimenez is moving, so, you know, you want to just try to get him in the corners,
04:37you know what I mean?
04:38So, every time he's moving around, you just want to cut it and basically follow him.
04:40See, there, Liam Wilson kind of let him out there.
04:42You want to, as he's moving, you want to put that pressure on roughly around now, as Liam
04:46Wilson's doing, but he's moving, he's moving a lot, this Jimenez, and he's no slouch.
04:52You know, he's been in the ring so many times.
04:54You know, he's got more wins than losses.
04:57And like I said, Liam Wilson's name is a world title.
05:00So, he's coming here for a huge upset.
05:02And there's that left hook I was talking about, that Liam Wilson, when he throws that jab,
05:06he pulls back that right hand.
05:07And, I mean, if you can catch him on the chin, he might be in trouble.
05:11Okay, so, interesting note there from Michael Zarapa with regards to that little chink, perhaps,
05:17in the armour of Wilson.
05:18Let's see if Jimenez has picked up on that.
05:21Speaking of left hooks, though, we know about the Wilson left hook.
05:25We have seen it against the likes of Jesus Cuadro, Joe Noyne, and famously, of course, in Arizona,
05:33against Emmanuel Navarrete, who was given 27 or 28 seconds to get back up and continue
05:41in that world title fight in round four.
05:45He sets it up with his right hand, as Wilson, often just pouring away with the right hand,
05:51and then bringing that powerful left hook behind it.
05:56And he would love to do that in what would be a true statement victory
06:01against a fellow world-ranked fighter here in Jimenez.
06:04But at the moment, the Argentinian is using the ring very, very nicely.
06:10And Wilson is really having to work to get him in front of him.
06:18And he comes forward now, Jimenez.
06:20All left hand, and he goes one and two, trying to punch through the guard onto Wilson.
06:24Wilson won't mind that, though, him coming towards him
06:26and sticking around in front of him for a moment.
06:29100%, he loves that, you know.
06:30But again, you know, he needs to have a tight defence,
06:32because Jimenez is going to come with those big shots.

06:46getting him caught for a moment, Jimenez,
06:49and trying to find him to the body.

06:59You know, Liam Wilson, he's great at opening right hand there,
07:01but he needs to faint a lot more, you know.

07:07and not landing, not having much success with it.
07:11And every time he faints, he pops that jab and lands.

24:58jimenez on the on that back foot and um you know landing the cleaner shots
25:02but it's competitive you know even though it's you know
25:05Liam wilson's winning the majority of the rounds it's a still competitive fight
25:16wilson did have a little moment there with the left hook when

26:35the pressure he'll land you know cleanly and he could potentially stop the fight

30:41again and he's starting to score with a few he goes to the body there does wilson him in he drops the
30:52hands and just rests in front of him for a moment chasing now liam wilson the queenslander
31:01and he goes to the body jimenez comes back with the left hook of his own
31:18and jimenez has fought the last moments of each round with some intensity wilson gets through with
31:26the left hook again jimenez comes back with the left hand
31:33bit around that one between wilson and jimenez
31:39and we have two rounds to play here in our car main events
31:42how do you feel physically good good proper good okay have a sit who me but hey you need to stay
31:57awake you need to stay awake okay it's not those double guards where it's just the judges can give
32:02you some of that and here's some of the highlights of the previous round it was a good
32:19action round michael at this stage of the fight should there be any concern in the wilson corner
32:25that perhaps one or two of the judges are seeing things different to what they are
32:31jimenez is jacking some of these rounds i mean look i hate to be a judge because look they are
32:34competitive rounds i mean i i'm a wilson fan maybe i'm a little bit biased but um look i think he's
32:40controlling you know he's throwing more landing more but i mean yeah jimenez is having his moments
32:45i mean he's catching with you know shots you know he's dancing around the ring and wilson's not
32:50cutting him off and putting on that pressure so i mean i'm just lucky i'm on this side of
32:53not judging indeed well still has a couple of rounds and he moves so well menez like he just
33:02you know nine rounds in you'd think you know there'd be a little bit of fatigue or or something you
33:06know he's he's hardly sweating having watched plenty of his fights in the last couple of weeks he does
33:15this for fun jimenez he can move all night and ten rounds is no issue for him as we are seeing here
33:27in round nine
33:33they'll just tangle it center ring here both trying to score and jimenez with a good jab there
33:38he scored on the inside too wilson was trying to fire that left hook
33:46crown really trying to get him going body shot from wilson
33:56left hook right hand from jimenez he comes forward too with some good shots
34:00that's better from jimenez scored straight up the middle on liam wilson who tries to go with his own
34:05big punches
34:09i think liam wilson's losing the fight when he stands and tries to trade with him
34:13you know when he's on the outside flicking the jab and trying to cut off the ring i think this is
34:16where he has his best moments but when he stands out tries to trade i think jimenez gets the better
34:20round of it well this is certainly better from jimenez at times scoring right up the middle
34:27picking his punch as well and taking his opportunities finding the openings on wilson and
34:32scoring good jab though from wilson misses wildly and he goes to the body well as jimenez was trying
34:38to work over the top
34:42there is no fatigue on jimenez that is for sure he's right up on his toes and
34:50he moves to his right as the wilson corner enjoyed a little shot that got through there
34:55they stand and trade for a moment again jimenez don't look good at times when they do that

35:25wilson trying to find him it's a right hand over the top that gets through from liam wilson
35:33so we will head into the final round of this one
35:36but edson jimenez will take confidence out of what happened in round number nine a solid round for
35:41the argentinian
35:47oh i'm sorry he has to he has to he has to go for it he's worth every round
35:51and it's not a hook you're coming high on the hook it's not here it's not there or under here okay
36:09you don't have to do this either it's not right right under left hand up it's just a left by itself
36:13or left up here same as dib here deep and it's getting to this keep believing that that's right
36:19well we head into the final round of this one and no doubt that was a solid round for
36:30antin jimenez so who knows what the judges are doing with this one the wilson camp very confident
36:37they are well clear but you just never know because antin jimenez has shown a touch of class
36:44at times and he certainly had his moments this one could well be close on the cards but perhaps
36:52the wilson camp are correct and they are well clear what do you think no definitely i i i i
36:57got to disagree with that i don't think wilson's won every round i think um you know it's it's a
37:02super close fight like i said i hate to be a judge i mean i'm giving wilson you know winning this fight
37:08but jimenez has had his moments and definitely i've given him rounds as well so um it's a super
37:14close fight i've got wilson up you know a couple of rounds maybe two rounds but it's definitely a lot
37:18closer than what people are thinking does it help that lam wilson has been attacking or going forward
37:24more is that perhaps what these judges are looking for yeah like i said depending on what they're
37:29judging i mean i i see that he's he's stayed in the center of the ring he's uh you know wilson's been
37:34the bully i mean you know jimenez has done the the slickness and dancing around and the counter fighting but
37:40i feel like wilson's been the um you know the pulley and and and pushing him out and landing
37:44those um you know those cleaner shots yeah and he did in round nine as well and he's coming on
37:52he's trying to here in round 10 and he's fought in solid spirits at times also so if we do last
37:59throughout this round the scores will be interesting wilson certainly trying to press forward and
38:07still with something meaningful as he has done all night jimenez just uses the ring so well
38:18chopping shots there from wilson jimenez to the body wilson tries to go to the body as well
38:23there's a good shot from jimenez good right hands
38:26wilson is right there but he can't find him there's a good right hand from wilson though
38:33get another now he chases inside the final minute of this fight such an important one too wilson just
38:43bangs the gloves together challenging jimenez to come and meet him jimenez is moving around like he's going to
38:53fight i don't know he must that must be something different to what we do i mean he's in the last
38:59minute if you're trying to to make a statement win or body shot wilson and he's chasing now
39:08with desperation lamb wilson he really wants to score with something big and he gets through with that
39:12left hook but stop stop oh what has happened here get up get up you you listen okay frustration no doubt
39:23let's listen to phil austin you keep your head to yourself you do not throw him around do you understand
39:28me you knock that off okay so excuse me a warning on the head from wilson and jimenez went down hard
39:36time to have a look at that after this round is complete but certainly
39:46some intensity at center ring and jimenez claims victory and he was moving around like
39:55he was confident and they celebrate and they jump for joy well these scores will be fascinating
40:03no doubt people at home have differing views on what they just have seen and certainly the two
40:11corners have very differing views the argentinians are celebrating like they've just produced a major
40:18upset but we know in the corner of lamb wilson and his trainer ben harrington they were very confident
40:24they were well clear as well
40:25it doesn't matter what anyone thinks because it'll all be up to three judges who have watched
40:33a 10-round contest ringside who do you think as we watch these highlights is going to be victorious
40:42when stephen palos reads those scores like i said it was a very close fight i mean you know they both
40:46had their moments i thought like i said leon wilson um you know pushed it pushed the fight pace uh and
40:53controlled but they both had great moments but the last round him in there as i told you was moving
40:57around like he he'd won the fight like he knew he'd won the fight so it's interesting because
41:03the judge depending on what the judges are judging i mean are they are they judging uh
41:07activity or dominance or you know it we'll find out in in a couple of minutes
41:13we certainly will it was a contrast of styles we knew that liam wilson was going to have to cut off
41:20the ring on a man who moves all night in edson jimenez perhaps the scores will tell us how successful
41:29or otherwise he has been in doing so certainly we didn't score with any of those trademark
41:37left hooks we're not real big ones anyway despite scoring with plenty of individual shots
41:43but we do go to distance in what is a very important fight for them both the world number
41:50four and the world number 14 big things ahead for lamb wilson if he gets the result here but it could
41:57be life-changing if it does go to edson jimenez who jumped for joy at the end of the 10 rounds the man
42:04who knows it all is about to tell us all it is stephen faos ladies and gentlemen centering after 10
