00:00Former PQR Deputy President Rafizi Ramli has fired back at calls to suspend him and eight other MPs from the party
00:08for pushing for a royal commission of inquiry on judicial appointments and alleged interference in the judiciary.
00:15Rafizi said suspensions would do nothing to solve the underlying issues and would not deter them from fulfilling their duties as elected representatives.
00:23In a post on X, he said the move only reinforces the perception that PQR no longer tolerates dissent,
00:30especially when MPs like Hassan Karim have criticized the Prime Minister even more harshly in the past, yet faced no consequences.
00:38Rafizi also said that the suspensions would reduce PQR's numbers in Parliament from 31 to 22,
00:44fewer than DAP, Barisan Nacional and Gabungan Party Sarawak.
00:48The nine MPs that the PQR division chiefs are seeking to suspend are Rafizi, Nick Nazmi, Nick Ahmad,
00:55Rohtia Ismail, Wong Chen, Zahir Hassan, Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan-Chik, Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, SK7, and On Abu Bakar.
01:06PQR division chiefs said the MPs' actions not only breached party discipline and ethics,
01:11but also cast a negative light on the Prime Minister's leadership and opened the door to political manipulation by rivals.
01:18Rafizi today pushed back against the group's critics, reminding them that PQR was built on freedom of speech and activism,
01:26not blind loyalty or the silencing of dissent.
