The Market Online speaks with EnviroGold Global CEO David Cam, as EnviroGold Global Announces Digital Simulation Completion and Process Enhancements.
Transcript
00:00Welcome to The Watchlist, I'm Lindsay Melchuk. In a world drowning in mine waste, Envirogold
00:10Global is flipping the script. This isn't just another ESG pitch, they've engineered
00:15a proprietary process that targets billions of tons of tailings and turns them into untapped
00:21metal reserves. It's called the NVRO process and it could change the economics of remediation
00:28forever. Now joining me now, yes, again, is the man I probably talked to more than some
00:34of my friends, David Kam, CEO of Envirogold Global, and his newly appointed Deputy CEO,
00:43Grant Freeman. And I would like to invite you both onto the show here more often. Welcome,
00:49welcome to Start Off though. Hey, Lindsay, great to be here. Great to see you again.
00:54Absolutely. Grant, congratulations on your new position and we can't wait to hear more
00:58about that as well. Thank you very much. Pleasure to be here.
01:03So as we continue our conversations, Envirogold is really gaining momentum in that commercialization
01:10of its NVRO process. David, the first question is for you. Can you tell us how this journey
01:17started and what technical foundations underpin the NVRO process today?
01:23Lindsay, Brock Hill, our head of R&D, and I've been working together for well over a decade
01:29on some very exciting mine-related technology. And he was working in the laboratory level,
01:35recovering metals from sulfitic tailings, and identified a couple of reactions that were unusual
01:42or not anticipated. And from that, that was kind of the genesis or the light bulb moment of the
01:47creation of what is now the Envirogold process. We've spent now three, nearly four years on deep
01:53detail R&D and filed some patents around the technology. So it really is an evolutionary step
02:00for the processing and recovery of metals from what is now a massive global waste stockpile.
02:06Absolutely. It's created quite the movement. Now, Grant, I'm going to throw this one over to you.
02:12First of all, why don't you give us a little background of you? And then, you know, the second
02:18question for you absolutely would be, you've made those recent key technical advancements with the
02:24completion of that digital simulation. Can you tell us more about what that means for the commercial
02:30readiness of the NVR process and how your team has really driven that progress forward?
02:34Look, I was previously a CEO of a copper project in Peru for private equity. In that role, I got to
02:45meet Andritz and their solution ideas. Andritz is a company that's installed over 196 processing
02:54plans, 30,000 employees globally. We're using their technology to advance our engineering studies
03:00at a much earlier stage. So the recent announcement is previously we've done a pilot plant study. We had some
03:08very good results through the pilot plant study. What we're now doing is now trying to optimize each and
03:14every aspect of that process and flow sheet. So we've brought in pre-concentration, which is trying to throw
03:19away some waste up front and put in the sulfide minerals into the processing, into the leached circuit.
03:26Basically, what we've done, we've taken that end product that the residue down by approximately two
03:33thirds. So from roughly 400,000 tons to 135,000 tons. While at the same time recovering a very high
03:41percentage, 82% gold is the lab tests and 91% for silver, while the process, the simulation tool,
03:49thought we'd get 85%. So again, the consistency of those outcomes gives us confidence in where we're
03:55going forward, reducing risks for our clients and advancing the development of our industrial process
04:03for remediation of mine waste. That is phenomenal progress already. I want to thank you both for
04:10coming on. David, thank you for also another great chat. I'm pretty sure at this point, I should probably
04:15just reserve you a standing slot here. And to Grant, I'm sure that we're going to have you back soon
04:20to chat more about this. Thank you, Lindsay. It's been great. And you'll see us again very soon.
04:25Again, that was David Kam, CEO of Envirogold Global and Deputy CEO Grant Freeman. For more on this
04:33company and its NVRO process, head to envirogoldglobal.com. I'm Lindsay Melchuk. Thank you for
04:39joining us and we'll see you next time.
