Taylor Swift's dad had to go under the knife for a heart procedure ... and she was by his side in the hospital ... but now he's feeling fantastic, TMZ has learned.

00:02Taylor Swift has kept a secret

00:05that seems almost impossible to keep.

00:08She's kept this for more than a month, maybe two months.

00:12Her dad had a serious medical emergency a while back.

00:17He went in for some kind of test

00:21and they found severe blockage in a number of his arteries.

00:26He had a quintuple bypass, five,

00:30and this was secret until today.

00:34And I think you have to give an assist to Travis Kelsey

00:38in helping her keep this secret.

00:41But yes, Scott had the quintuple,

00:46God, I'd never even heard of it,

00:47but had a quintuple bypass surgery

00:49because to deal with this severe blockage,

00:53which I can only imagine the doctors must have said,

00:55if you don't have this now,

00:57there's a very high likelihood you'd die.

00:59Oh, clearly. He did not have a heart attack.

01:01We're told he did not have a heart attack.

01:03But this is explaining a lot.

01:05This whole, remember, we've been saying for months,

01:07like it was odd that suddenly Taylor and Travis

01:10were living in Florida for the summer.

01:14And we were like, why Florida?

01:16And it seemed like Travis had a bunch of teammates

01:19come down there and other players,

01:20and he was working out.

01:21And we thought, oh, they just decided

01:23they want to work out in Florida.

01:24That's where her dad is.

01:26And that, and somehow,

01:29which is really amazing when you think about it,

01:31Taylor was going from the home they were renting

01:34to the hospital, presumably,

01:37and then I'm assuming the rehab center,

01:39and then I'm assuming her dad's home,

01:42and somehow undetected.

01:45Think about a hospital that has doctors and nurses

01:49and patients and families.

01:50But most important, other patients.

01:52Yeah.

01:52And that somehow all went under the radar.

01:57Yeah, and I got to imagine, you guys,

01:58this must have been super heavy for Taylor to deal with.

02:02Her family has had a lot of health issues over the years.

02:05If you remember, her mother, Andrea, had breast cancer.

02:08She also had a tumor in her head.

02:10And now she's dealing with her father,

02:13you know, going through this major surgery.

02:15This is a quintuple bypass surgery,

02:18which I don't even think I've heard

02:20of a quintuple bypass surgery.

02:22I mean, obviously a major surgery.

02:25And the fact that the biggest pop star in the world

02:27was there by her dad's side,

02:29without really anybody knowing,

02:32is pretty remarkable.

02:33And like you guys mentioned,

02:34she had been staying with Travis nearby.

02:37I'm sure she was leaning on Travis for a lot of support.

02:41I mean, their relationship has gone through

02:42so many twists and turns, you know,

02:45highs and lows.

02:46Everything from Travis winning the Super Bowl

02:48to Travis losing the Super Bowl,

02:50to now Taylor having to deal with,

02:52you know, this health issue that her father

02:54underwent, this major surgery.

02:56But we are told that Taylor's father is doing great.

03:00He's in great spirits.

03:01And, you know, it was kind of a preventative measure

03:05that they took.

03:06So there were a lot of rumors

03:09when they were down in Florida.

03:11Are they together?

03:12Are they having trouble?

03:13Because we never saw them going out to restaurants.

03:16Well, now we kind of,

03:17now you can connect the dots and say.

03:19Yeah, she was, those times we weren't seeing them,

03:21she was going to the hospital,

03:23going to the rehab center.

03:24Whatever secret moves she did to,

03:26it is really remarkable.

03:28And kudos to her and to Travis to be able to do it

03:30because we know that wherever they go,

03:33and not just paparazzi,

03:35but fans will always see them wherever they go.

03:38And they were able to do this undetected.

03:40I gotta say, that's remarkable.

03:45It is remarkable that nobody knew this until today.

04:34she would have put the tour on ice.
