Transcript
00:00all right yes ma'am thank you so much sammy um the secretary rubio has taken a lot of ownership of
00:06if not pride in the reorganization of the state department which as you well know resulted in the
00:10layoffs of over 1300 uh employees last week do you know does the secretary plan to address the
00:17workforce directly about this what i can tell you is that without forecasting uh his actions
00:25uh or uh any remarks is that the secretary is as you all know is very vocal and likes people and
00:33engages with them as often as he can uh he cares very much about this department and to the point
00:39where look he undertook something that others had talked about or wished could be done but just didn't
00:47it was important enough for him so that the people who are here could have a work experience and the
00:53result of the products they produce and the the passion they have for the work that that it could
00:59actually be efficient that it could get things done uh within an amount of time that makes it relevant
01:05so it's his phrase is the uh at the speed of relevancy so i i would uh uh he he speaks to um uh many of us
01:14a lot all the time uh and i would expect of course um uh that to be the case he's been busy as we all
01:20know uh but he's uh certainly engaged in this regard and is up to date uh constantly on the
01:27nature of where things stand but just respectfully i mean it's the department he oversees right of course
01:32you have a lot of this process and i think that we've reported well i think that what i think to not
01:37don't move too far ahead of the fact that i'm not going to state when or how or whether he will what
01:45i've said is that he he speaks to us all the time he loves the department obviously uh this is uh this
01:51is his uh his home uh and i think that uh on this issue and many others the people who run this
01:59department uh who make this department uh relevant and possible um all of us whether we be political
02:06people or a career people or foreign service officers we'll hear from him of course
