00:00Monica Kidder was found dead in her cell by apparent suicide within the past hour.
00:24She is now believed to have orchestrated the massive Zero Day attack in apparent retaliation.
00:39Push a quote from an FBI source familiar with the investigation.
00:43Got it?
00:44The Bureau had become increasingly concerned with Kidder's radical rhetoric in the weeks before Zero Day.
00:51The possible explanation I can think of is that Kidder tonight opted to end her own life,
00:56as she must have concluded the evidence against her was overwhelming.
01:00I think this is as close to a confession.
01:02Did we do this?
01:04Did we?
01:05We? We didn't do anything.
01:09And if you're worried about the death of a autistic sociopath, you haven't been paying attention.
01:14Jesus Christ.
01:16This only breaks our way if the trail stops at her.
01:19Shut the fuck up, Jerry.
01:20Please.
01:21I mean, does anybody actually think that this is going to play?
01:24That Monica Kidder is the end of all of this?
01:26She had the means and the motive.
01:28She did do the things that she's accused of.
01:31The rest is becoming truth, and that's all that matters.
01:33It's not the truth.
01:35My father is not gonna go for that.
01:37Do you know something?
01:38I know him.
01:39I know that so long as there is a single loose thread, he's gonna keep pulling at it.
01:41We have this under control.
01:43Have we ever had any of this under control?
01:46One minute of system shock.
01:48That's what you said.
01:49A few months with the right power and the right hands and the country's back on track by Christmas.
01:53You have been wrong about every single thing.
01:56I'll be the first to admit that things have not gone to plan.
01:59But here we are, and we have to remember what we set out to accomplish.
02:04To cut off the political fringe on both sides.
02:07To expose a vulnerability that has been mistaken for freedom.
02:11To restore a shaken faith in our ability to govern.
02:14And despite your father's every attempt to fuck it all up, we are finally close to being able to do all of it.
02:20And what we need to do is take a breath.
02:23Come tomorrow, there will be no more loose threads to pull.
02:26It's being handled.
02:27Handled.
02:28Like Monica Kidder.
02:30We have to come clean.
02:32Anything else we do at this point will make it worse.
02:35I'm going to remind you, Alex, that we have partners in this.
02:38And their idea of coming clean is not something you want to contemplate.
02:45I know you're struggling with this. We all are.
02:48But we owe it to the American people to finish this.
02:54I'll call a car and get you home.
02:56No, um...
02:59No, I'll get my own ride.
03:03We've just heard from a source within the FBI, and I'm going to quote it because I want to get it right.
03:16The Bureau had been increasingly concerned about Kidder's radical rhetoric in the weeks before the Zero Day attack.
03:22Where there are off-stated concerns regarding the proposed regulation of Panoply.
03:27How long have they been out for?
03:30Then find whoever's in charge of maintaining your cell cameras.
03:34He's right here.
03:35I'm putting you on speaker, Mr. Pennington.
03:37Go ahead.
03:38Now that we're in Panoply's system, we can see exactly how Kidder modified the NSA's design and how she spread the malware so widely.
03:44Kidder's apps, they're on 80% of the phones in America.
03:47So they push the bug out via automatic updates to those apps.
03:50From there, it jumps to any device that it comes into contact with via Bluetooth, USB, anything.
03:55The coding itself is extraordinarily elegant.
03:58It has an AI engine that lets it learn new operating systems.
04:01Could she really have done this on her own?
04:03She has the technical expertise.
04:05She had the help of a few hardcore loyalists.
04:07No question she was capable.
04:09No, that's not what I was asking.
04:11There's no reason to doubt this isn't exactly what it looks like.
04:14Sociopathic billionaire doesn't like Uncle Sam taking away her toys, so she tears the whole house down.
04:20And then she conveniently hangs herself before anybody can ask her any questions.
04:24Give us a call every hour with an update.
04:26Yes, sir.
04:27Everybody seems to be getting on board with this.
04:29Last night you said that she was too smart.
04:32To take this kind of a risk, yeah.
04:36It's Alex.
04:37Mom.
04:38Your father's here, too.
04:40Um, I'm coming up to the house.
04:42I need to talk to you.
04:43To both of you.
04:45What's going on?
04:47You okay?
04:48I'm fine.
04:49I'm fine.
04:50I-I...
04:51I'll explain when I see you.
04:54Be careful.

09:25Hello, George.
09:26Prince 594 confirmed.
09:31Over.
09:36Prince Emmett Kelly has been retired.
09:41Over.
09:42Prince, you're coming.
09:45Confirmed.
09:46Emmett Kelly retired.
09:48Over.
09:49Proceeding with the remainder of the cleanup.
09:51Over.
09:52Affirmative.
09:53Over.
09:56Seems like they bought it.
09:58You're a dead man.
10:00For the time being, anyway.
10:03When the lights come back on,
10:05we'll spread the word on social,
10:07push out some blurry video.
10:09CIA isn't authorized to operate on U.S. soil.
10:15I'll overlook it this time.
10:18What are you doing here?
10:20When you arrested Kidder,
10:21I thought it was about time we had another chat.
10:24It's a good thing I did.
10:26Let's just say,
10:27President Mitchell and I have had an interest
10:29in you and your well-being.
10:31We had strong reason to believe
10:33the zero-day plot involve actors
10:36from inside the government.
10:38At the highest level.
10:40Dryer?
10:42We thought it was possible.
10:46How far does it go?
10:48Or who else?
10:49We're not sure.
10:50But far enough,
10:51we couldn't trust the normal channels.
10:53We needed someone out of the game like you
10:55to find out for us.
10:56Hmm.
10:57To be honest,
10:58I was starting to think we made a terrible mistake.
11:00At Langley, I tried to bring you in,
11:03but it was like you didn't hear me.
11:05Then at the presser, you bring up Proteus.
11:08After Valerie came to see me,
11:10I started to put it together.
11:11George, if someone is using Proteus on you,
11:15it isn't us, and it never was.
11:17I know that.
11:19These next few hours,
11:20this is the end game.
11:22I need to know that you're okay, George.
11:25I need to know that you're on the couch now.
11:40Billy, go up to your room.
11:42What?
11:43Mom?
11:44Go, go, go.
11:51Hi.
11:53These men will keep us safe,
11:54but we need to come inside.
11:56Where's George?
12:03It's just a few blocks.
12:04I think it's better if we walk.
12:05All right.
12:06I'll be right behind you, sir.
12:14That's right, ma'am.
12:15We should be pushing out the grid patch shortly,
12:17hoping within the hour.
12:18Okay, after that,
12:19comms is the priority.
12:20Credible information combats panic.
12:22We need to tell people help is on the way.
12:24Ma'am.
12:25On that,
12:27there's been some radio traffic.
12:29Claims that something happened to President Mullen.
12:35Power then comms.
12:37Keep the team focused.
12:38Thanks, Daniel.
12:39I can come up with you.
12:40No, I'm just gonna grab some stuff,
12:41and then I wanna head upstate.
12:42I'll be waiting right here.
12:43Thanks.
12:44Thanks.
12:45Thanks, Daniel.
12:46I can come up with you.
12:47No, I'm just gonna grab some stuff,
12:48and then I wanna head upstate.
12:49I'll be waiting right here.
12:50Thanks.
12:51No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
12:55Oh, my God.
13:25You wanted to tell me something,
13:30but I can't imagine anything that makes sense to me now.
13:41Okay.
13:50We...
13:51We were trying
13:55to fix things.
13:56We? Who was we?
13:58You and Dreyer?
14:01It wasn't just Dreyer.
14:02By the time he came to me,
14:04there were already a dozen members behind him
14:05and from both sides.
14:06So it was their idea.
14:09Kidder.
14:11Hmm.
14:11She said that she could scare people
14:13in just one minute.
14:15She could remind everybody how vulnerable we are,
14:17how fragile we are, and that makes sense.
14:19It does. It makes sense.
14:20That if you can remind people what's really important,
14:23then maybe they'll tune out all the noise
14:26and the bullshit and the lies
14:27and we can go back to actually hearing each other.
14:30So we let it happen
14:31because it made that point for us.
14:33It made it better than we ever could have made it,
14:36but I did not know that anybody was gonna die.
14:38I didn't...
14:39Yeah.
14:41So you associated yourself with Robert Linden.
14:46Fucking Linden is a parasite.
14:48I didn't know Linden was involved in this.
14:50Think about it.
14:51When is the last time the country
14:52was able to solve any of its problems?
14:54When?
14:54Because we haven't passed a single piece
14:55of legislation in 18 months.
14:58You wouldn't believe all the things
15:00that Dreyer said that he was willing to work with me on
15:02if he didn't have to worry about
15:03all these nuts in his party coming after him.
15:05It went too far.
15:10When Mitchell gave you the commission,
15:11then we were just stuck.
15:12This is not the answer.
15:14We took a big chance
15:14to change things for the better.
15:19Yes, a change for the better.
15:20What you do about that is you work at it.
15:22Just look around you.
15:24The world that you think you understand,
15:25it doesn't even exist anymore.
15:28The worst part about that is
15:29I used to think that you couldn't help it,
15:32that you didn't know how broken everything is,
15:34but I think I'm wrong.
15:36I think you do know.
15:37I think you do know,
15:37and you don't want to solve.
15:38Things are always broken.
15:40We try to fix them.
15:41Faith in the process,
15:42it's just a massive fucking dodge,
15:44so you don't have to get your hands dirty.
15:45That's true.
15:46So you don't have to help any real people.
15:48Easier said than done.
15:49You don't have to solve any actual problem.
15:53I did.
15:53You did it.
15:54I did what I knew was right.
15:56You're just oversimplifying everything.
15:58Maybe we all could have done more.
15:59You're damn right we all could do more,
16:01but we do our best.
16:04I hear you, okay?
16:07I hear you.
16:08Tell me what to do right now.
16:11Tell me what to do right now.
16:13I'm sorry.
16:13I'm sorry.
16:14If you tell me what to do right now,
16:16I will do it.
16:16I will do it.
16:18Dad, please, please.
16:22I promise I will do it.
16:24If you tell me what to do,
16:25I will do it.
16:28Okay, okay, okay, let's focus up.
16:55I want POMs up next.
17:14As the commission continues its work
17:17to restore down systems.
17:19Cyber experts predict that this second attack
17:21was the last gas from Kidder,
17:23a poison pill triggered from beyond the grave.
17:26Perhaps with the assistance of...
17:27Sorry, I'm just now receiving an update.
17:31We have breaking news now,
17:33and it's terrible, if true.
17:36As the lights come back on in many cities,
17:39we are hearing reports
17:40that commission head George Mullen
17:41was the target of an attack
17:43near his home outside New York.
17:45A much-beloved former president
17:46may have been the victim of an attack
17:48by radicalized supporters of Evan Green.
17:51Who you will remember was detained...
17:53No word yet on the condition
17:54of former first lady Sheila Mullen.
17:57If you are just joining us,
17:58that is former president George Mullen
18:00currently missing and feared dead at this hour.
18:03You have to fear dead quickly.
18:04Yeah.
18:05Mom?
18:05Oh, Lily, honey, I...
18:08Hi.
18:10Um, I'm Sheila.
18:13Um, come, come join us.
18:14This is my friend Sheila.
18:16I just...
18:17Your thoughts, Jonathan,
18:20if these reports turn out to be accurate?
18:22I didn't always agree with George Mullen,
18:24but I don't think anyone can dispute his patriotism.
18:27This is a guy who came out of retirement to serve.
18:30I'm sorry.
18:31I'm told we have House Speaker Dreyer.
18:32Let's go to that.
18:36Devastated, heartbroken,
18:37if these reports turn out to be true.
18:40George Mullen was devoted to defending America
18:42from the kind of misguided extremism
18:45that motivated the zero-day attacks,
18:47and that apparently has cost him his life.
18:49George and I served on opposite sides of the aisle.
18:52We argued often, fought even,
18:55but we always agreed on one thing,
18:57that this is the greatest country on Earth,
18:59and it's worth doing anything to defend it.
19:02And if you'll excuse me,
19:03the president has called me to the White House.
19:04What happened to the commission, sir?
19:06Mr. Speaker, what about the commission?
19:08I expect the president and I will be discussing that,
19:10but right now, all our thoughts should be
19:12with the Mullen family
19:12and the millions of families affected by tonight's attack.
19:16If George Mullen has, in fact, been assassinated,
19:19it's a terrible loss from which we will not soon recover.
19:22But his death is
19:23but one casualty in the war against our enemies,
19:28a war that has only just begun.
19:32This way, sir.
19:33Anytime.
19:50Hello?
19:53That was touching.
19:55You and I need to meet.
19:58In person.
19:59Beautiful.
20:26And the light it is.
20:27You and I.
20:29We're actually on the same side.
20:31You know that, don't you?
20:32All I know is that you're gonna go to prison for a long time.
20:34A decade ago, maybe.
20:37Today, I'm not so sure.
20:38Treason's still a capital offense?
20:39Treason implies a betrayal.
20:42Everything I've done has been out of loyalty.
20:44Loyalty to the same things that you claim to care about so deeply.
20:48And the thousands of people that died in these attacks?
20:50You violated your oath.
20:52And you've done irreparable damage to this country.
20:54No, I gave it a last chance to save itself.
20:57How many years do you think we have left?
20:59With half the country caught up in a fever dream of lies and conspiracy,
21:02the other half shouting about pronouns and ranking their grievances.
21:06Destroying democracy is not the way to save it.
21:08Has chemo destroyed the patient when it rids them of cancer?
21:11And so you decide what the cancer is?
21:13You know what the cancer is.
21:14The white nationalists ranting about being replaced.
21:16The anarchists shouting, abolish the police.
21:18The delusional that think an election is open to interpretation.
21:22Not to mention that clowns like Evan Green who dole out their poison online and on television
21:27just to make a buck.
21:28And the commission can solve all that.
21:30Properly utilized, its powers can.
21:32Temporarily and surgically deployed.
21:34If Mitchell had made the obvious move, the smart move, and given me the reins, we'd already
21:39be on the other side of this.
21:40Every dictator that ever seized power always said it's just temporary.
21:44And you know what was left when they were finished?
21:47Graveyards and ruins every single time.
21:50Stand there and pass judgment on me all you want.
21:53But what's happening in this country isn't a rough patch, it's an emergency.
21:56If we don't do something drastic soon, we're finished.
22:00Your daughter understood that.
22:01My daughter has made a lot of mistakes, but the biggest one is believing you and that
22:05you care about anything other than yourself and your own power.
22:07Your daughter's a hero.
22:09I know what she thinks about me deep down, but she was willing to put all that aside for
22:13the greater good.
22:14She saw what we could accomplish if we worked together.
22:17You should be proud of her.
22:18Call your lawyer.
22:19Tell him you're being arrested.
22:21Not tonight.
22:24You want to disband the commission.
22:26To end all this and slowly euthanize the country, I can't stop you.
22:30Maybe you really are that blind.
22:32But here's what's gonna happen.
22:34I'll step down when my term is up and I'll make sure the others do too.
22:37You've already got Kidder and you can hype up Lyndon's role all you want,
22:40because he's never coming back.
22:42It ends there.
22:43Bad guys lose, everyone goes home happy.
22:46This isn't a negotiation.
22:47It isn't?
22:51Because...
22:53Any other way, you're putting a rope around your daughter's neck.
22:59Like you said, George, treason's still a capital offense.
23:03Are you really willing to do that to your daughter?
23:06Is your wife willing to let you?
23:08Is your wife willing to let you?
23:09Is your wife willing to let you?
23:10Is your wife willing to let you?
23:15Is your sonless?
23:16Or is she decisive ?
23:17You're not willing to let you get positive or not be made.
23:18You don't want to let you.
23:19You've got no Tiffany.
23:21We're going to let you beside you.
23:22Please come.
23:23Miss.
23:24Absolutely.
23:25Come.
23:26Maybe we do this.
23:27Bye-bye.
23:28Let me finish.
23:32Beautiful.
23:33You gonna get condiciones if we can come.
23:34Let me kick.
23:35I want you to win all the props.
23:37I can move over to 2-パック
23:38Let me minus 2-8 minutes.
23:40But this is my character on Facebook,
23:43joining us now commission spokesperson melissa cornblow thank you for having me as you can see
24:09by the quick restoration of services after the second attack the american people can rest assured
24:14that the zero-day malware is no longer a threat former president mullen will be delivering the
24:19commission's final report tomorrow at which point he will be addressing the steps that we've taken
24:24to ensure our country's future cyber security as well as our conclusions about who is ultimately
24:29responsible morning sir we just got a call president mitchell was touring some recovery
24:36sites in the city today apparently she wants to come by and see you here at the house yeah around
24:4211. not our only visitor today alex wanted to see me later
24:47what are you going to tell her the same thing that you did that i love her
24:55well i meant about tomorrow that you haven't slept or eaten in days and i don't know anything
25:01george whoever she is and whatever she's done we raised her and we have to take some responsibility
25:14for that
25:15i can't lose another child
25:22i can't lose another child
25:42i can't lose another child
25:46Madam President.
25:56So this is what purgatory looks like?
25:59Yeah.
26:00Sit over here.
26:03I hope you don't mind the imposition.
26:06I find that my office has a tendency to discourage candor.
26:11From both its visitors and its occupants, apparently.
26:14You could have said more in that first meeting.
26:19Maybe.
26:21But when sharing information,
26:24what we suspect, what we know, what we can prove,
26:28those are all very different things.
26:30And ultimately, all less important
26:32than what the listener is willing to believe.
26:35What do you think the American people are willing to believe?
26:38The question of the hour.
26:40I hear that the commission's report
26:45is still a work in progress.
26:48I'm guessing that you're facing some terrible decisions.
26:52Is that why you're here?
26:53To make sure my judgment isn't clouded?
26:55Actually, I'm here to say that I'm sorry.
26:59Yes, I held some things back,
27:01but I had no idea it might turn out to be this personal.
27:07People trust you
27:08to do the right thing.
27:11Whatever you say in that report
27:12will be the truth in their minds.
27:16The truth is truth.
27:17Maybe.
27:18Maybe.
27:18The last time you spoke to a joint session
27:24was to announce that you weren't running again.
27:27I heard the rumors then
27:29that it was about more than just your son's passing,
27:33about an affair,
27:35to be that reckless,
27:38and with your own chief of staff,
27:40and then to lie about it to the American people.
27:44I never bought it.
27:46Not for a second.
27:47But later, I began to wonder
27:52if there was more to it than just an affair.
27:57If you kept it all quiet,
27:59not for your own sake,
28:02but to protect someone innocent
28:05who didn't deserve all that pain.
28:10And this I can believe,
28:12because the truth
28:14is the truth.
28:17But it's not always
28:19the most important thing.
28:26Now, you once told me something
28:28that I never forgot.
28:29You said that our job
28:30is to govern the country
28:31as it is,
28:33not as we wish it was.
28:35The public finds out
28:38how deep this really went
28:40right at this moment.
28:41I don't think we survived that.
28:45We have an obligation
28:46to protect the American people.
28:49Maybe our guilty conscience
28:50is the least we can bear for them.
28:52You stopped a coup.
28:56We pinned this on Kidder alone.
28:58It doesn't bother you.
28:59The people might never know that.
29:00Treyas' office is already telling reporters
29:03that he's retiring,
29:04leaving on a high note.
29:08Unlike you,
29:09I want a second term,
29:10and the road to that
29:11just got a whole lot easier.
29:13There's a lot of good to do still.
29:16Mistakes I've learned from
29:17that I can correct.
29:19That's the truth
29:20that matters most to me.
29:26Four more years?
29:30I promise there'll be enough time
29:32for unfinished business.
29:47Amen.
30:17I don't know.
30:47I don't know.
31:17I don't know.
31:47I don't know.
32:17This is quite the high-class delivery service.
32:26Report on the investigation into the zero-day cyber-attack on the United States of America.
32:31I don't know.
32:32I don't know.
32:33I don't know.
32:34Go ahead.
32:35Take your time.
33:06I don't know.
33:07I don't know.
33:08I don't know.
33:09I don't know.
33:10I don't know.
33:11I don't know.
33:12I don't know.
33:13I don't know.
33:14I don't know.
33:15I don't know.
33:16I don't know.
33:17I don't know.
33:18I don't know.
33:19I don't know.
33:20I don't know.
33:21I don't know.
33:22I don't know.
33:23I don't know.
33:24I don't know.
33:25I don't know.
33:26I don't know.
33:27I don't know.
33:28I don't know.
33:29I don't know.
33:30I don't know.
33:31I don't know.
33:32You've seen advance copies of the report confirm that Monica Kidder wants the mastermind
33:38Additionally, Mullen is expected to propose new cyber security measures for Congress to consider.
34:01Good morning, sir.
34:08Just over a month ago, each of you answered a call to service.
34:35And in just the last week, in a few short hours, you brought us back from catastrophe,
34:41saved countless thousands of lives.
34:44This country and I personally owe you all an enormous debt of gratitude.
34:49Thank you, thank you, thank you.
34:58Oh, Mr. President, how are you feeling?
35:15Never better.
35:16Good.
35:17I added a few more footnotes.
35:19Sir, if I may understand the investigation uncovered additional angles.
35:24This is what we're going with.
35:27Okay.
35:33That's been an honor, sir.
35:35Me too.
35:43Lab examined all night.
35:45And?
35:46Debris of indeterminate origin.
35:49Could be an electronic device that was attached to the feeder.
35:52Could be junk that accidentally fell into the seed at the factory.
35:57Hmm.
35:58All the stress, all the pressure, all at once.
36:03Being back at the White House where Nick passed.
36:07Doctors say that could explain it.
36:10Top secret neurological weapon or just a tired old man with too many demons.
36:20Does it really matter?
36:23And, uh, Lily?
36:24I told her everything, the truth.
36:33Whatever happens now, it's gonna be up to her.
36:36Yep.
36:37You sure about this?
36:40I am.
36:41I'll be watching.
36:43I'll be watching.
36:44I'll be watching.
36:45Mhmm.
36:46I'll be watching.
36:47I'll be watching.
36:48I see you.
36:49I'm watching.
37:02I finally got a bird.
37:03I'm watching.
37:04I'm watching.
37:05I'll be watching.

41:36Those are the facts
41:37Those are the facts, but not the truths
41:46It's funny
41:51When you lose someone
41:56Someone you really love, something that really matters
42:08They're never really gone, they're never really lost
42:14They won't let you know, they won't let you know, they won't let you know them
42:17And you know what?
42:47They don't let you know you don't let you know, they won't let you know, they'll do you know, they won't let you know what they're not here4
43:03real. The greatest honor of my life was when the people of my district chose me to represent
43:13them in the United States Congress. My greatest regret is that I did not live up to the faith
43:20they placed in me. I betrayed my oath and I lost my way. I realize now the way to silence the voices
43:29that are poisoning this country is not by throwing them in a cell. It's to stop listening.
43:37The way to solve our problems is to look for common good, not wins. The way forward is to
43:47confront hard truths, not hide from them, which is why I will not hide. I will turn myself in
43:57and face justice.
44:12The Zero Day attack was a conspiracy led by House Speaker Richard Dreyer.
44:16He was joined by members of this body from both sides of the aisle.
44:25Among them, Congressman Jerry Benson, Congresswoman Barbara Rawlings, Senator Max Trilley, Senator
44:40Pat Bishop, and Congresswoman Alexandra Muller.
44:46But they are not the only ones. There are most certainly more conspirators from within
44:52government and outside. We must find them. The Zero Day Commission ends tonight, but not
44:58its work. It is my hope that President Mitchell will now use every constitutional tool she has
45:04to bring this country's enemies to justice, no matter who they are. May God watch over those
45:11who now pick up the fight, and may he always bless the United States of America.
45:15You self-righteous son of a bitch. I hope you're proud of yourself. You just destroyed the country.
45:20Every time we can do the right thing, it's another chance to save you.
45:23Mullen has delivered an absolute bombshell tonight, upending everything we thought we knew about
45:37the Zero Day attack. We're now receiving reports that Congresswoman
45:40Alexandra Mullin may already be in custody. As FBI sources indicate, the director will appoint
45:46a task force to investigate Speaker Dreyer and other members of Congress now implicated in the
45:51conspiracy. Leaving the country to now face a difficult but essential task of confronting
45:58the enemy among us and bringing them to justice. An extraordinary turn as Mullin has spared no one,
46:04including his own daughter.
