RHS Flower Show Wentworth Woodhouse
Transcript
00:00I have designed and created a show feature known as the Miner's Garden at Wentworth Woodhouse Flower Show this year.
00:13The garden is a journey back in time to the 1950s, 1960s when coal mining was thriving around here and coal mining was a really happy place.
00:21The coal miners liked nothing more than to come out of the blackness of the pit and get straight to the garden
00:26where they grew fruit, veg, food for their families and lots of cut flowers to make the house look bright and beautiful
00:33and I think that's just a total contrast to the blackness of where they worked.
00:36It's quite an honour to be here today. I have been asked to do this project because I am a Yorkshireman
00:41and I have a connection with Yorkshire. This is the first ever Wentworth Woodhouse Flower Show in Yorkshire
00:46so I feel quite special to be here and to have done what I've done.
00:56Hello, my name's Helen Cook and I'm the County Commissioner for Girlguiding in South Yorkshire.
01:10We're here today at Wentworth Woodhouse at the RHS Flower Show because Girlguiding are launching a suite of new interest badges
01:17for young people to work on and one of those is the Girlguiding gardening badge for rangers who are aged 14 to 18.
01:24So we've got some young members who are rangers from Doncaster and they have designed this garden over the last few months
01:32and put it together and earned their ranger gardening advice. They've got their hands dirty, they've helped us design this.
01:37So we've got different flower beds in different colours representing the themes of the Girlguiding programme
01:42and we've got some hanging baskets representing our rainbows, brownies, guides and rangers at our young member sections throughout the organisation.
01:49To show what the young people have achieved through this, they've learnt lots of new skills that they've talked about
01:54taken back to their families and their own gardens and they've made new friends and worked together and learnt a life skill.
02:01And to be able to showcase what Girlguiding can offer young people through our garden and the collaboration with RHS
02:06it's been an absolute privilege.
02:09It's been an absolute privilege.
02:11So this is their easy play tides will give them to their health and work by changing their functions.
02:12It's like gimme taifers at strange developments and Glitter can a little end, these rooms do not earn but express why in them could be sustained.
02:16You've never felt like Jesus and there's one of them estou to share.
02:22So again, I hope that God returns to us, that God's friend has a good meaning of God.
02:28So normally this Jeanne Walker is not the business model.
