00:00Hey, this is Jackson Wang and this is the Why Autocomplete Interview.
00:06Yeah, I googled myself and wild all over the place.
00:16Does Jackson Wang write his own songs? I mean, for this album, releasing this year called
00:22Magic Man 2, I spent one year writing all of them, converting from personal diaries to
00:30music. And the reason for that is because a lot of the songs in the past, which some of them I wrote,
00:35some of them, you know, it's a lot of people, the team effort, but I took a year off
00:42because I actually never made a song for myself. I understand all that commercial performance,
00:48music, but what do I want to say as a person? You know, so that's why this album is personal to me.
00:55Does Jackson Wang replies to DMs? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I do. Sometimes, sometimes.
01:02Does Jackson Wang live in LA? No. I live in Shanghai with my parents and I also live in Seoul.
01:10Does Jackson Wang have tattoos? I do a lot. I have 13, 14, 15. I'm a big fan of Buzz Lightyear,
01:17so I got them, like, on my legs. But then we drank so much and the tattoo artist was so drunk.
01:24It looked nothing like Buzz. It's so bad, do you want to see it? Hey man, hey, don't laugh, okay?
01:30And don't get me wrong, he's a very, like, famous tattoo artist. Just so drunk. Yeah. Okay, next.
01:44What is Jackson Wang? Let me guess, what is Jackson Wang known for?
01:49Fandom name. For me, I guess it's Jackie, and for the group, it's Agassi. I got seven.
01:55Yeah. Second one. What is Jackson Wang famous for? See, this is the top one. The funny thing is,
02:02I'm involved in a lot of, like, different categories. K-pop, C-pop, 80 Rising. Just a lot.
02:10I don't even know. Whatever, you know? I'm just Jackson Wang. What is Jackson Wang's net worth?
02:18Chinese name. It's Wang Ja'er. And in Cantonese, it's Wang Ga'i. But Jackson is my real name.
02:26Passport. I don't have that, like, AKA bullshit. It's just Jackson Wang. And my mom named me Jackson
02:34because she was a fan of Michael Jackson. And she wished, you know, her kid could dance and sing like him.
02:41What is Jackson Wang's first language? I don't have one. I don't know. Maybe, um, Cantonese? I speak a lot,
02:51but I'm not fluent in any of it. Mandarin, Chinese, Cantonese, Korean, English.
02:57I think I could just... Hey, I'm sorry. Am I supposed to do that? Okay. Hey, thank you. Thank you.
03:06When did Jackson Wang debut? Hey, easy. 2014. January 16th. When did Jackson Wang become a trainee?
03:18That was, uh, 2011, July 3rd. I arrived in Korea. I got casted. I was, at that time, I used to be a
03:26professional athlete, professional fencer. And I was prepping, uh, London Olympics. And I got casted
03:33in school. Which, honestly, honestly speaking, I was lucky. Cause I was just playing basketball
03:38after exam. And you're supposed to go home after exam. But I stayed. And whoever that was playing
03:43basketball with me, they weren't as good looking as me. So thank God they were there. You know,
03:49you got no choice, but I was the only one. Literally only three people on the court. So I'm thankful to them
03:56to this day. When did Jackson Wang go solo? I don't remember. I think I was 23. I didn't go out.
04:07Like, I just did my own thing. And lucky, lucky enough, uh, the, the, the company that I was in
04:13was JYP. And they allowed me to do that. So I'm still grateful to this day. When did Jackson Wang
04:20come to India? Two years ago, I think? Yeah. Two, three years ago. Two, three years ago. Yeah.
04:28Mumbai for a music festival. And it was dope. Okay. Okay, cool. Jackson Wang's
04:37tour. Maybe after the album, Magic Men 2. And I think this time I want to travel to more cities,
04:43deep in Europe, deep in South America. I also want to go to India, Indonesia, also Africa, if I can.
04:50You know, some, some cities were really crazy where you can feel the crowd that they're ready to die
04:56with you, you know, like, and they're, they're partying and they're not even shooting. They're not
05:02even holding onto their phones. They're not even shooting videos. They're, they're just there to
05:06party and to have a good time. Jackson Wang's new album. My new album is Magic Man 2 dropping this year.
05:14And it's a self-serving album is what I want to say as a person.
05:18Jackson Wang, red bracelet. Oh, this one. So in Chinese culture, if your sign is matching with
05:30the current year, so if this year is the year of the dog, and if my sign is dog too, there's a saying
05:37that you got to be careful that year. Either you're going to be super successful, or you're going to
05:43GG, like you're going to die, like you're going to fail, like some shit is going to happen to you.
05:47So in order to prevent that, your parents need to give you a red bracelet to protect you. And we
05:54got to wear red underwear, whatever, just red. And it's supposed to fall off naturally. So this is
06:00from the previous year of the dog. It's still, it's still there. I'm just waiting. I'm waiting for it
06:06to fall off. Jackson Stanford University. I received a scholarship in Stanford right while I was prepping
06:14for London back then. So before giving up everything and went to Korea. Jackson Wang Oolong perfume. This
06:24is a perfume that I been using for more than four, four years, four or five years. I prefer Oolong tea
06:34because it feels it's like nature, natural smell instead of like fruity and like cologne. Like
06:42that's too strong for me. Last one. Okay, let's see this. Where does Jackson Wang live now? Shanghai
06:51and Seoul, Korea. Where does Jackson Wang grew up? I was born and raised in Hong Kong and also
06:58Shanghai. My mom's from Shanghai. My dad's from Guangzhou. For 13 years, it's just back and forth from
07:04between Hong Kong and Shanghai. 14, 15, I was in Budapest for fencing and then Sicily for seven,
07:11eight months and then went back to Hong Kong for exam. And that's when I got casted. Jackson Wang,
07:19where did Jackson Wang go to school? In Hong Kong. It's called AIS, American International School.
07:27How to style Jackson Wang hair. I would wear a hat. I like wearing hats, beanies. Yeah,
07:36I like to wear them because I feel like when you do your hair, it's too serious, especially for like
07:42lifestyle content. But if performance, like performing, then sure. Or red carpet.
07:48This is, this better be a good one, man. It's the last one. Don't disappoint me. Okay, wait, wait, hold on.
07:58Oh, okay, safe. Was Jackson Wang at Coachella 2024? I was, yeah, I was. Hey, I'm so blessed. I'm so
08:04grateful, you know, being able to perform for three years. So grateful for that. Hopefully not this year
08:11because I don't have songs to perform. Maybe next year if I, if they invite me. Hey, thank you so
08:18much for having me. It's an honor to be on Wired Autocomplete Interview.
