00:00I would say the team that enters with the most optimism is the Washington Commanders,

00:04at least to do something we have not seen in a very long time.

00:08Obviously, something Washington did last year, led by Jaden Daniels in a record-setting rookie season.

00:14The Commanders reaching the NFC Championship game for the first time since 1991

00:19before getting blown out by the Birds.

00:22Here are the odds for the Commanders each and every step of the way.

00:26To miss the playoffs, not the most likely outcome.

00:28That is to make the playoffs, minus 134 to make, plus 110 to miss.

00:33To win yet another playoff game to get to the divisional round, plus 180.

00:38To reach the NFC Championship game for the second time in two years, plus 440.

00:44And DRS, it is funny to say, for the Commanders, what would be that next step of growth?

00:49It would be winning the conference crown and playing in a Super Bowl that is 19-1.

00:53So the buy or sell question to you, DRS, Washington is more likely to miss the playoffs this upcoming season

01:01than make the NFC title game for a second straight year.

01:04I'm going to buy that, and here's the reason why.

01:07Because I do think the Washington Commanders do make the playoffs, but the question is not asked

01:12if they make the playoffs.

01:13It's what's more likely to make the playoffs or make the NFC Championship.

01:16It's hard to make the NFC Championship.

01:18It's hard to make the Super Bowl.

01:19It's hard to win a Super Bowl in advance, specifically if you have only one buy,

01:23which again means you must win your wild card round game and also the divisional game

01:26before you even wind up in the NFC Championship game.

01:29You saw last year Washington was able to do that.

01:31Donnie, why can't they do it again?

01:32They just did it.

01:33The expectations are they're supposed to be better this year, fortified,

01:36coach with another year in the system here, young quarterback, another year in the system.

01:40It all makes sense.

01:41But let's understand this.

01:43Look at the teams that made the playoffs last year in the NFC.

01:46Lions, Eagles, Buccaneers, Rams, Vikings, Commanders, and Packers.

01:50There's only one team in there that has a question mark, and that's the Minnesota Vikings

01:54because they're going from Sam Darnold, who was very good in the regular season,

01:57racked up 14 regular season wins, then sort of, you know,

02:00petered out, if you will, in the playoffs.

02:03But if you are looking and say, all right, let's just say the rookie isn't as good as

02:07Sam Darnold and they get knocked out of the playoffs, that's only one team.

02:10Like the expectations for all those teams to be back in it are very high.

02:14Now, as you say that, well, can anybody actually like invade that playoff market

02:18who didn't last year?

02:19You take a look again.

02:20The Seattle Seahawks had 10 wins.

02:22Expectations for them, I don't know, changing over from Geno, going over to Sam Darnold.

02:25Does that make a difference?

02:26But they won 10 games last year.

02:27Atlanta Falcons, who won eight games, their expectations are higher this year.

02:31They re-upped on defense here, got a couple pass rushers.

02:33Michael Penix coming around the block in year number two.

02:36But also, the Falcons, eight and nine, excuse me, the Cardinals, eight and nine as well.

02:41They're supposed to be a little bit better this year.

02:42Then comes these next three teams.

02:44The Cowboys missed the playoffs last year, Ben.

02:46The San Francisco 49ers missed the playoffs last year.

02:48The Chicago Bears with monster expectations.

02:51There are teams that are chomping at the bit just to get into the playoffs here,

02:54which if you miss the playoffs this year, you're probably going to have 10 wins again.

02:58So making the playoffs is going to be hard, which I think they can.

03:01But also what I'm saying is, Ben, that playoff field is going to be unbelievably talented

03:05and unbelievably deep.

03:07And if I don't think Washington is the one seed, that means, again,

03:10two playoff wins are going to be required to reach the NFC championship game.

03:15It's not a slight on Washington.

03:16It just tells you how deep the NFC is expected to be this year.

03:20And I think they make the playoffs, but I'm just going with the odds.

03:22I don't think they get to the NFC championship game.
