00:00U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a new trade agreement with Indonesia, imposing
00:05a 19% U.S. tariff on Indonesian goods while granting U.S. exports full access to the Indonesian
00:11market with no reciprocal tariffs, Reuters reported.
00:15On his Truth Social platform, he announced that the deal includes Indonesia agreeing
00:19to purchase 15 billion U.S. dollars in U.S. energy products, 4.5 billion U.S. dollars
00:24in farm goods and 50 Boeing jets, though no timeline was specified.
00:29The largest trade with the U.S. totaled just under 40 billion U.S. dollars in 2024, with
00:33the U.S. running an 18 billion U.S. dollars in its deficit.
00:38U.S. exports to Indonesia rose 3.7% last year, while imports from there were up 48%.
00:44Top U.S. imports from Indonesia include palm oil, electronics, footwear, tires, rubber,
00:50and frozen shrimp.
00:52Trump had previously threatened Indonesia with a 32% tariff starting August 1st and has sent
00:57similar warnings to about two dozen countries, including Canada, Japan, and Brazil.
